[For the record, I refer to them as the CTRL-Left]

Victor Davis Hanson

A tease:

A final tenet of the Alt-Left is its ease with Big Money—in rejection of the 1960s leftist notion that small is beautiful, simplicity is revolutionary, and lucre is proof of exploitation and criminality. Today, an inverted orthodoxy is that billionaire grandees from Wall Street to Silicon Valley to Hollywood have been flipped from robber barons to social justice mavens (read they are so wealthy that they are personally exempt from the deleterious ramifications of their own ideology that falls on the poorer and less influential). There is nothing odd about an Alt Left activist consulting his ample stock portfolio, insisting on granite and marble in his kitchen, or preferring Mercedes to Lexus; the old left wing idea that life emulates ideology is passé.

Anything once deemed exploitative and autocratic—the military, hugely endowed private foundations, an imperial presidency—for the Alt-Left is welcomed as expedient, on the premise it can bypass legislative logjams and fast track or fund moral agendas such as transgendered restrooms, women in frontline combat units, gay marriage, or climate change.

For now, the Alt Left has crushed its Democratic opposition. Bill and Hillary Clinton have mostly renounced their political positions of the 1990s—from opposition to gay marriage, work requirements for welfare, closed borders and enforcement of existing immigration law to support for more police, tough sentencing, and drug enforcement.

So true. But aren't both parties guilty of endorsing the first one?

If you had asked, "Aren't the institutions, groups and people named endorsing both parties?" then the answer is a resounding no. We've posted the lists of top donors many times and the Democrats are the ones hauling in the big money and hobnobbing with the stars, Wall Street tycoons and tech nuevo-rich.

Hearkens back to the time the Dominican Friars were actively selling indulgences. It also more or less confirms my long held thesis that the democrats always were the party of "big business." They've just dropped all pretense of being for the little guy now.

That's pretty much what Biden was saying recently, we didn't tell the middle class what we were going to do for them. The problem being that the rich establish Foundations, get tax "indulgences" written into law and finance the Democrats who will protect them by writing those laws. It is now, what are we going to do to the middle class to help us fund the SJWs who are attacking their way of life...

Thanks.
But there are several contradictions in american society (and possibly in the european or australian ones too, since I haven't explored these as much as the forum allowed me to look into the american one) that baffle me:

1.From what I read online, it looks like most of the international -and possibly american- community awakened, and decided to take a stand against the corporatist- neoliberal establishment that sucked them dry for years. As reflected by Brexit, Trumpism and the popularity of nationalist parties in europe (which carries huge risks too).

(not to equate neolib- globalist - corporatist with capitalist - internationalist, since the first is a malignant version of the second, which would be good).

2.Yet you still hear members of the alt -left and especially the young promoting neolib. - globalist - corporatist exploitative ideas, which are cleverly disguised under a veneer of socialism for all and social justice.

Are they just a vocal minority (I can see how the GB might have attracted so many of them),
Or what % actually think this way IRL?

... their mentors and the aforementioned rich who realize, as VDH posits that calls for more government intrusion into our lives gets things done, to others, the deplorables, those who still believe in rugged individualism (of course the rich protect themselves by financing, supporting and even joining government). If you can use government to destroy their way of life, then you force them into dependency and behavior control. The new emerging left believes that they are an "evolved' culture and as such knows how to abrogate human behavior.

The left get's over 90% of government employee donations as well.

The problem is that the curtain is being pulled back. Believe it or not Bernie was instrumental there.

I was one of them until two years ago, but as someone said the internet allowed me to hear other ideas.
They seemed to have successfully compensated for that, by a systematic indoctrination in schools and colleges.

It's worrisome that so many youths -our future- are followers.

The best thing Gov't can do for the "Middle Class" is to cut their taxes and regulations so they can return to being the productive powerhouse they used to be. That of course, would be counterproductive and reverse their 50-year efforts to construct the well-oiled soft tyranny they oppress us with today.

Yes, a point I usually do not fail to make, which is also why we see so many of their heads going after conservatives and conservative groups; they have to protect their power and lavish pay and perks, so they do their part to finance the party of big government. Same with the Unions.

Bernie might be the single most important factor (well, there's Lizzie too) in reawakening the "Reagan" Democrats as to the hostility the party felt towards them and Hillary then banged that coffin lid shut with her basket full of deplorables comment.

Ah yes, the Chief still considers himself to be teh prototypical "rugged individualist".

I disagree. You have shown an open mind to other ideas, they shout them down. That was discussed in the article too.

You and I think that, but the CTRL-Left does not see it that way, in fact in some corners, and I've even seen President Obama address this issue, they have an antipathy towards the Middle Class because they fled the cities and left them with a tax base which is unable to sustain Social Justice spending on the new true constituency of the Democrat Party, "the unassailable victim."

"I was just a dumb fuck until 2 years ago when I decided to follow a prairee nigger, now I'm a bigger dumb fuck" - Paki Guy

Ok, my last random blurt since I feel that I'm clearly out of my depth here.

What's great about this article & thread is that they did something that Left leaning public intellectuals like Noam Chomsky /Chris Hedges don't:
((and I'm referring particularly to an excellent link by Rightguide in BB's thread)).

Both NC and CH are very vocal against the establishment /corporations and particularly the evisceration of the middle class. On the other hand -and this is the biggest contradiction in their message- they openly support and ally themselves with a party that is clearly corporatist and pro- establisment.

Because they have trained themselves to hold conflicting ideas comfortably compartmentalized.

;) ;)

Oh, good. Can't wait for the utmost authority on hypocrisy to post a list on other people's hypocrisy.

For which the Democrats will never forgive them. Obama and the Democrats have been at war with the American majority all along.
