Jason was tired. He had been up to his eyeballs in paperwork for the last three days as well as trying to juggle all the orders that were coming in and going out. Normally he would have his competent secretary Helen to deal with all this but she was off having her second litter of babies. It was a joyous time for the pack and he could not have her working at a time like this. Heaven knew how dangerous it was for them to give birth at the best of times. She was off for the next three months to have her babies and raise them until they started walking. One of the advantages of being part wolf was the short pregnancy, and that your babies developed quickly in the first year. The disadvantage of course was that you tended to have four to six kids and mortality rates could be high. So far though in his pack there had been no deaths with the three pregnancies that had occurred. He put that down to having a doctor within the pack and her guidance during them. He was not above listening to good advice from lesser ranks within his pack when he needed it unlike some other Alphas and it had proven invaluable at times and this was one of them. They now had 15 healthy children added to the pack and more on the way with Helen's second lot on the way.
Of course he wasn't really thinking to kindly of her right at this moment. She was supposed to have arranged for her replacement and she had assured him she had. A girl from within the pack called Debbie who had filled in for her before last time she had been pregnant and a few times she had been sick was supposed to have come in. However that Monday when she didn't show Jason had waited until lunch and then had hunted out her number and called her home. He got her roommate and was informed she was on a holiday retreat and wouldn't be back for another two weeks. She looked at her friends calender and she had marked down the job for next month. Jason thanked her and then started to panic. He knew no one else in the pack could do the job and some of the things he had to do were pack sensitive so having an outsider here would prove complicated but he could not run his business without someone to do the paperwork and answer the phones.
Finally he relented and called a Temp agency explaining exactly what he needed. Someone for 3 to 4 months, that could answer phones and book meetings, could balance books using his computer system and make sure his stock was being routed correctly. Of course he would be helping with the last two but he wanted an independent person as well, he found it better to have two sets of eyes to catch any discrepancies.
The agency said the thought they had just the person he was looking for and would send her out on Thursday. He sighed at the delay but it was the best they could do. He was to look out for a Sasha and she would be there at 9am sharp. Jason thanked them and new he would have to stay late Wednesday night just to get the books in some semblance of order so she could start with a clean slate. Looked like he was sleeping on the cot in his office again.
