Well, Abs has her own hangout, the boys have their lounge, Vella has her mood swing thread, so I'm calling dibs on this one!

Rules: There are none, really. Simply post your most vivid (or unvivid) dreams at random. I should mention that this isn't limited to just the erotic ones-- silly, bizzare, scary, freaky, whatever strikes your fancy at the time also most welcome.

If this thread does well, I may pick and choose those that really catch my eye and attempt to dissect them. www.dreamdoctor.com offers a great dream dictionary for those interested in interpreting their own.

In addition: Please don't hesitate to engage in the occasional description of your lucid, sleep paralysis, night terror or sleep walking experiances. Would love to hear of any other unexplainable occurances also, and I will do my best to assist in turn.

The accounts do not have to be in complete sentences, point form notes are fine too. Maybe it will even inspire you to elaborate on it later and submit it in story form!

I'll check back in a while, and if no one has contributed yet, I'm going to sentence you all to hearing about my erotic dream involving Gary Busey (ugh) and his ice cream shack. For the love of god, think of the children!

I play home pharmacist every night with benadryl due to sleep paralysis. If I take enough, it's not a problem. I don't know if it keeps it from happening or if it keeps me from remembering, but frankly I don't care either way. Life would be much easier (or at least kinder to my kidneys & liver) if there were a doctor that would just prescribe sleeping pills long term. In all honesty, I've been to cowardly to even ask. Odds are they won't believe me and the odds are even longer that they would risk a malpractice suit by giving me a script.

I'd love to know more about some of my dreams, but most of the time I don't get enough sleep to be able to remember them. The sleep of the dead and all that.

However, the other night as I was recovering from being ill and having an absurdly stressful week in life, I had a nightmare. It wasn't really a nightmare in the end, but it was odd and not in a good way, all the way through.

Okay, I know snakes are bad, but there were lots of snakes. It was almost like a family reunion setting. Most were friends and family, but my ex was there. Anyway, these snakes that were all through my dream were just hanging out. Not bothering anyone and really no one took any notice of them. The end of the dream, however, has them begin attacking two or three people around me and finally one of them flies (yes, I know how odd it sounds) onto my head. I got an instant headache from it and though I was thrashing about in my dream the damn thing wouldn't come off. No biting or any normal snake behavior. Just leeching to my head and giving me hell.

WTF?

The medical system where you are must be far more evolved than the one here. Where I am located, the docs are more than content to place and keep you on some form of prescription.

As with any medication of that nature, (Benadryl, Tylenol with codiene, Neo Citron,) your body will quickly build an immunity to it and, as a result, no longer prove effective as a sleeping aid or a cold/flu/pain aid.

The problem is that most medications, including those that are prescribed (and I speak from personal exepriance here) are highly addictive, to the point where our dependancy to them becomes purely pyschological. This means that even long after the actual physical effects have worn off of us, our mind still maintains that until we indulge in that crutch, we absolutely will not be able to sleep/function properly.

What can even worsen the situation is our tendency to increase these dosages throughout time. Not to lecture, but sometimes medications like Benadryl can also start to produce a reverse effect which can actually worsen your condition.

I suffer from sleep paralysis too, and I have found training myself to dream lucidly offers me the control I need to snap myself out of that state in most cases. There are several free sites available for more information if you ever want to give it a shot. Good luck to you, and I hope the Benadryl doesn't start working against you!

I had to really dissect yours, because it wasn't the typical dream. I'm going to attempt to give you both the Prediction and Symbollic interpretations.

Symbollic:

Snakes: In Indian tradition, moving snakes symbolize the stirring of kundalini. In Freudian terms, snake is a phallic symbol. Jung, however, interpreted snakes as symbolic of the conflict between conscious attitudes and instincts.

Flying: For Freud, once again, this indicates sexual activity. Jung suggests that flying symbolizes confidence, liberty and transcendence. In modern terms, flying dreams symbolize exceptional ability.

My interp: Given these two conclusions, it almost sounds as though your dream was more sexual than evil. That hardly suprises me, you pervert!

Prediction:

Another resource I recall (it was a book of which the title escapes me,) makes mention that a dream of snakes leeching on to your head denotes that you will be persuaded to give up some possession of great importance with the false impression that it will effect you in a positive way, only to later find out you have fallen prey to an evil advisory.

My interp: I assume this is basically stating to keep your friends close, your enemies closer, and beware of decisions based on haste, but this is only my personal interpretation.

Family: Foretells of harmonious and happy days ahead, unless illness or gloom has befallen one or all of those involved in the dream.

My interp: Once again speculating, but I'm assuming the snakes would signify dissapointment in this case.

Head: (*resource: 10,000 Dreams Interpreted) To dream of your own head signifies nervous or brain trouble.

Head aches: To dream your head aches denotes that you will be oppressed with worry.

My overall interp: Never leave the house again, and go on happy pills!
