Stella!

Yes, I have learned that our very own Stella Omega has gotten herself a nice new MacBook Laptop. Which means she is now..."One of Us! One of Us!"

So I'm calling a meeting of all Apple Computer Users here on the AH to a special lodge meeting. Don your robes and funny hats, bring that special "cider" that you've been brewing up in the garage, and the "herbs" you've been growing in that corner of the backyard, and prepare for an initiation ritual! Oh, and don't let me forget to teach Stella the secret handshake and knowing "nod" *prior* to partaking of the special cider and herbs--we don't want a repeat of what happened last time.

And yes, refreshments will be served.

Which is all to say, :rose:Congrads on the new laptop Stella! :rose:

P.S. You do know that this means we're expecting you to write a lot more stories

I think you are being discriminatory against the rest of us, 3113, so I'm putting you on ignore. :p

Hallelujah! Another brethren, or is that sisteren, joins the cloth.

Says the 22 year Mac user. :D

We're willing the share the herbs and cider, but you have to listen to our pitch about why you should switch to Mac ;)

Excuuuuse me? I've been a mac user since the first apple, I'll have you know!
(yeah, thse were the days-- COMPUTER ART!!! never mind that it looked like drunken spiders. In Kindergarten. And the very first computer adventure game; "Hitchiker's guide to the Universe" where you typed in responses that really couldn't deviate much from the book...

I've been flogging a G3 tower for FIVE, count 'em (5) years-- and I bought the thing used. For too long I've been holding my breath and doing one of those OCD dances that pitchers do,while I started it up in the mornings.

Last week, things came to a crossroad; my boss needs me on the internet, and was going to buy a computer for me. A used desktop mac is around 500 bucks, and I need something at home too. A query on craigslist apple orum suggested a macbook, for sturdiness reliability, ease of replacing stuff. So, he helped me fund my very first laptop all my own!

and I'm sitting on the sofa while I surf--

It's like having the pony you always wished for!

I stand corrected. But it is still your *first* Mac Laptop. That has to mean something.

So can we still break out the "cider" and have the ritual? Pretty please?

That's where mine is, too. Turned off. I'm in the office at the desk. It's more comfortable in here where everything is.

Hey, I'm always up for rituals of that nature!

Whoo-hoo! Rob, light the apple-shaped candles while I get the Leopard-spotted blindfolds! Brothers and Sisters, we are going to christen Stella's new laptop!

We need some slogans to chant now. And banners.

Yay!

A question for more tech-savvy cult members:

I need a printer and scanner and have no room for both. I'd like to get one of those all-in-one machines. Customer reviews at the Apple Store website have me worried about Mac compatibility, installation etc. I pay attention to those, having learned from experience that even Apple doesn't guarantee the full compatibility of products it sells by other manufacturers. (I bought a flash drive from Apple a few years ago that infected my iBook with Ebola or somesuch; thought it was a fluke until I read an online review of the product by other Mac users who'd had the same problem.)

Is there a relatively idiot-proof printer/scanner that's easy to set up and is as compatible with Mac as it is with PCs?

I'm a technophobe, people. If I still lived in Miami I'd take my MacBook to the Apple Store, let the staff do the installation and demonstrate the basic functions of the printer/scanner. When I came home, I'd just plug-and-pklay.

Here in Savannah, however, my nearest Apple Store is on Mars.

Suggestions?

I'd like to do wireless printing via the Airport, but that's the least concern.
