The AH Coffee Shop and Reading Room 09

It’s 3rd person close/limited, and it’s literally how most popular novels are written these days. It’s the opposite of uncommon :)

And yes, you’re doing it right. I’d italicize the Fuck, since it’s a literal thought, but it’s not strictly necessary. If that’s how you prefer to write, you’re on the right track.
Well apparently I don't read enough popular stuff :ROFLMAO:
Shows what I know

Honestly I probably just didn't consider much how the exact formatting of people's thoughts were done in things I read before I started writing more than occasionally. Which is a rather new development.

...Now I feel like an idiot. 😅

I started over in first person. I even tried to do first person past tense, but got one paragraph in and my character was pushing me aside and taking charge. She wants to tell me her story as it happens. It will be up to me to decide how to tell it to Lit, I guess, but for now this is how it's rolling.

Only got 300 words but that's all I had before I started over, so it's good. The goal is to get a sijo on page 1 so that a reader sees it fast and gets used to them, and both versions did that.
When I'm dashing out notes for a story they usually come in present tense. It could be first or third person. It flows better that way. I've never used present tense narrative in the final draft because I find it limiting. I rewrite everything to past tense.

you could just feed her to plot bunnies...no, they're vegiaryiand aren't they?
While there are a handful of obligate carnivores in the world, as far as I'm aware there are no obligate herbivores.

All placental mammals at the very least, (with the exception of most of the humans) eat the afterbirth.

So yeah, you could very easily feed a useless narrator to the plot bunnies. You just gotta convince them that they want to eat her.

My lawn mowing service didn't get any income for the past three weeks so I guess that's it for the year.

Yep. The invoice I received this week for mine said outright, "Final service for the year. Thank you." He doesn't offer plowing, so if I need that - haven't yet - I'll have to call around. I already gave him the heads-up that I may not have him do it next year because of the planned house construction on the property making a mess of things.

My latest Barstow chapter has grown legs, and introduced another new character who has potential for being in the standing cast. Currently 13K, and I'm only just starting the orgy scene. Where all this creativity is coming from I haven't the foggiest, but it just keeps flowing. So much for ending the series, I suspect.

Favorite quip:
"... Somebody somewhere was smiling down upon us with that one."
"Smiling? Nuh uh. Belly laughs."

I've started a fresh pot of coffee and there's a cornbread on the counter. For those who use milk with it, it's in the 'fridge. There's also cream cheese and butter if you want it.

What is the lowest-stakes half-baked theory people believe? I have two. One is that most American microbrewed IPAs have the overhopped flavor profiles they do because so many of the people running them are high all the time and need the overstrength flavors to feel something.

I like Blue Moon Beer, but have once in a blue moon.

I believe that the America dairy industry is lying about the nutritional value of milk products. My daughter's pediatrician insisted she needed to be drinking 48 Oz of milk A DAY at 3 years old, in order to get enough calories/fat. You will not convince me that, barring other reasons why the kid isn't being fed, a toddler needs to be drinking a quart of milk every single day.

But, low stakes, because shes no longer a toddler and Im not in charge of feeding other people's kids.

Well, part of it is that humans really should continue getting mothers milk until they're two to three.

But yeah, there is a conspiracy out there, cause we could get the needed amount of calcium from non dairy sources, like broccoli or other dark green veggies.

I fixed it for you.

You're welcome.
