I've kind of been playing with this idea in my head for a while now, maybe it's about time to see where it can go :)

It's a high fantasy style RP with an entire world to explore (the map provided only outlines the Human realms so far. I'll have more drawn later)

Here's a quick map (with some places and whatnot): http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r108/elvenchild03/Cleavage SRP/AgeofFalseInnocence2.jpg

There are a variety of mythical races in this world, including High Elves, Dwarves, Minotaurs, Dragons, Griffons, Gnomes, Goblins, etc (If there is a particular race you might want to play feel free to ask me). It is important to note that not all races will be available to play right away, but they'll start becoming a factor once the story moves along, and I do have an ending in mind but that's always subject to change as the thread progresses.

Current Setting
The two most powerful human nations, the Emerald and Sunstone Realms, are currently at war with one another. No one is sure who first started the armed conflict, but what started with a few skirmishes has now grown into an all-out war. The war has raged on for nearly three years now, and tensions are still just as high as when the war first started. Fighting has thus far only been limited to their immediate borders.

The Sunstone Realm is ruled by King Xavier and Queen Lilandris, and they make their abode in Icewind City, a heavily fortified city that boasts no enemy has ever yet stepped inside its walls (excluding diplomatic envoys and/or prisoners). Icewind City has recently undergone heavy construction, and its tall, white walls can practically be seen for miles on a clear day. Knights ride back and forth on their horses and ensure order and stability within the realm.

The Emerald Realm is under the rule of Lord Bates, a strong and charismatic leader that feels it is both his destiny and right to rule over both great nations. Lord Bates rules from his castle in the ancient city of Maevrin, which boasts an impressive population of at least 200,000. Maevrin is known throughout the world as the City of Water, because of its many canals that serve as the only means of transportation.

Where the story begins
Currently both sides are preparing for a heavy engagement at a place known as Hayden Meadow. Fighting has not yet commenced, as both forces are currently building up their strength. The Emerald soldiers are currently based in Greyfield Tower that overlooks the field from the south, and the Sunstone forces are encamped in Rosehollow Point.

Alliances
Certain races have shown considerable favor towards particular factions. High Elves tend to show favor to King Xavier and his warriors, whereas the Dwarves and Dark Elves tend to align themselves with Lord Bates. It is not uncommon to find their forces fighting alongside the humans at any particular point, but they tend to distance themselves as much as possible.

Characters
I'm pretty loose as far as what kind of character you want to play, and while I will allow multiple characters I'd prefer to keep the number per person rather small. Currently the thread only involves the following races to be played: Humans (either side), High Elf, Dark Elf or Dwarf. The list of available races will increase as the thread progresses. I'll try and get a character bio sample out as soon as I can ^_^;

(Just a quick bio, I'll probably spruce it up a bit when I have more time)

Name: Cassandra Grace
Age: 28
Race: Human
Class: Battle Mage
Height: 5'8"
Weight: 109 lbs.
Hair: White
Eyes: Blue

Appearance: http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/...e SRP/sample-752d2c05bb43a842b6e87a61569a.jpg

Cassandra wears a variety of outfits depending on what the situation calls for. At more formal events she is not above dressing to impress, and when she rides out into battle she wears a special white chain mail that only the Knight Elite are allowed to wear. It is said the armor boosts her natural abilities and provides far more protection than the standard plate mail does.

Personality:
Cassandra is extremely confident in herself and in her abilities. She strives for perfection, and is not one to give up in a fight easily. She would rather die for her country than retreat from the battlefield. Her courage has been a source of inspiration for others, and soldiers flock to her banner when they are thrown into disarray. Cassandra has no sympathy for the enemy, and she is a fierce opponent on the battlefield.

Biography:
Cassandra Grace was born in the village of Eastmill in the year 1248. Her parents are currently deceased, and she has one sibling: her brother Michael. Her father Thomas served faithfully in the Royal Guard for most of his life, retiring only to provide for his family. Cassandra's mother Elizabeth had passed away giving birth to her second child, Michael. Thomas did the best he could to provide for both his children, but it was more than the old knight could bear. He died nearly three years after the passing of his beloved wife.

Cassandra and Michael were put into an orphanage. She tried her best to look after her baby brother, but they became separated from each other a year later when Michael was given off to another family.

Cassandra cried and cried until the tears just stopped flowing. A few months after Michael had been given away Cassandra found herself in the arms of a new family, and they lived in Icewind City. The Grace family was a very wealthy family that prided itself on its devotion to the King and Queen, and they provided Cassandra with a sound education and discipline, and even though she was not their birth child they treated her like family.

It was on her sixteenth birthday that Cassandra discovered she could use magic. She wasn’t gifted like many mages of the realm were, but she could still conjure elemental spells such as fire and frost. Under the proper guidance of High Elven sorcerers, Cassandra began harnessing her abilities, using with deadly accuracy and magnitude. While she was training her spells she was also learning how to fight with weapons. She became increasingly proficient at wielding staves and swords. Cassandra started learning how to use her spells to increase her fighting skills, and she became one of Sunstones first Battle-Mages.

Graduating from the Royal Academy at age 22, Cassandra enlisted herself in the service of the king, and because of her abilities and her fierce determination she became a Knight Elite, serving as an active commander of their armed forces during times of war. Cassandra has the proud distinction of being the first female member of the Knight Elite. She is currently stationed at Rosehollow Point, preparing for the upcoming battle at Hayden Meadow.

Hope this bio is okay, mirrored it off Tears' style

Name: Kiara Mistmantle
Age: Immortal
Race: Dark Elf
Class: Warrior
Rank: Ranger General
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 114 lbs.
Hair: Grey
Eyes: Red/Black

Appearance: http://i306.photobucket.com/albums/nn276/MysticJade08/7e5c6aa610a442139350dd57a38c0c05.jpg

Kiara's skin is charcoal grey, and she has a variety of tribal markings covering parts of her face, arms, and legs. Her grey hair falls just above her shoulders, and she keeps her bangs away from her face to prevent her vision from being obscured. Her dark armor seemingly reflects her cold nature, and she wields a dark and jagged edged broadsword.

Personality:
Kiara is cold and calculating, and while she doesn't mind getting her hands dirty now and then, she'd prefer to manipulate others and work from behind the scenes. She can be either ruthless or forgiving, depending on her mood (she tends to favor the former). Trained at a young age to despise her enemy, Kiara shelters none on the battlefield, and only retreats if defeat is imminent.

Biography:
Kiara is a fairly young Dark Elf, but she exhibits the cruel cunning that normally takes centuries to develop. Her parents were former slaves, and she grew up living the life of a servant to a family of High Elves back when slavery was still being practiced. It has since been outlawed throughout the realm, but she still feels a bitter resentment towards them for it.

Her father Kydrolis died after being severely beaten to death for refusing to follow his masters orders, and Kiara was forced to watch him being buried. From that day she swore vengeance against all High Elves, and to those that they ally themselves with.

Along with her mother, Kiara escaped their bondage and fled on foot. They remained low for quite a while, until they reached neutral territory. They took a ship that was headed for the human realm, and it arrived in the port city of Maevrin. Kiara instantly fell in love with the town, finding it one of the most beautiful places in the world. But it was also a place of corruption, and she quickly learned the treacherous ways of the humans. In Maevrin she became under the employ of Lord Halder, and she served alongside his loyal knights.

Even since that time she has loyally served each of Halder's successors, right up to the current ruler of the Emerald Realm, Lord Bates. She has moved up in the ranks, however, and is the current Ranger General of his forces near Hayden Meadow. During times of peace she acts as one of his closest advisors.

Kiara looks good. Welcome aboard ^_^

Name: Biagio Highborn
Age: 27
Race: Human
Class: Mage
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 179 lbs.
Hair: White
Eyes: Red

Appearance: http://www.dodgenet.com/~moonblossom/Elric/elric1.jpg[/url]

A long haired albino with penchant for wearing black, the sword he carries is his father's cursed blade. Everytime it's been drawn, every single time, somebody's been killed. For that reason Biagio keeps it close to him but latched into it's sheath accept in the most dire occasions.

Personality:
Being a mercenary Biagio has seen both sides of this war, and finds the morals of all to be wanting. It hardly matters to him though money, he loves the money and as long as the right amount of money is offered he'll do just about anything. He enjoys the thick of battle and has used his magic as his primary offense. His preference for using necromancy along with his appearance has gained him notoriety and several nicknames. His favorites were Ghost, Death on the Battlefield and Hallow.

Biography:
Coming soon.

Name: Mich Lionsfoot
Age: 26
Race: Human
Class: Battle Magus
Height: 6'
Weight: 140 lbs.
Hair: White
Eyes: Blue

Mich is never seen with out two tokens of his current rank, an offense and a defense. These tokens are a dwarven axe and dark elven cloak, gifts from Lord Bates' allies. Apart from the dark and fiery axe and the shadow wood cloak colored like the night sky, he changes his dress based on the occasion. (Sex is often nude, no socks for example.)

Personality:
Mich's trust in his men never wavers, and he is confident the bond of officer and soldier. Ever the adapter, he understands no plan is wholly perfect, and so he leads from the front lines to adapt quickly. He is willing to die for his lord, but a speedy retreat and a new plan can win a battle that dieing can not. His drive and cunning have been a source of inspiration for others, and all soldiers know he is the one who can save them when all seems lost. On the battlefield Mich shows no sympathy, fiercely fighting for his Lords ideals.

Bio:
The red cape is symbol most tied with him. There are the knights who were blue and those that wear red. Those that where blue change the world to help those in need, those in the red cape sacrifice themselves to help those in need. Mich wears the mantle of blue and Lord Bates wears a long red cape.

From the time he was six he has dreamed of two figures. A female form of white and blue, the embodiment of happiness, and a knight with a red cape, the form of sorrow. With the death of the knight, the blue eyes of the second form must bare the sorrow. It is for this reason Mich acts the way he does.

Mich moved to the city of water at a young age of roughly four, leaving behind all that seemed familiar to him. His parents were of noble decent and did all they could to spoil him like an only child, but some how they did not.

His studies were similar to those of other nobles, although he payed little attention to much of it, playing chess and the study of poetry had a larger effect on him, and of coarse sword play as with any young boy.

On his fourteenth birthday, he discovered be could use magic. His family quickly hired a gnome teacher, who was promptly fired when it became clear Mich had little skill with illusions. A new Dark elven teacher was brought in to instruct him on the finer points of spell casting. As an added bonus the elf was also a skilled fencer, and the two skills would help him later.

He manged to graduate from a dwarven military academy, some how. This allowed him to become an officer, between his skills he managed a quick rise in rank to Knight Champion. Of coarse the fact that his parents have often met and discussed strategies with Lord Bates has some effect on his rank, even though he has had far less contact with his lord and master.

Mich is currently moving with a group of knights and calvary to Hayden Meadow, where he will report to his direct superior Kiara Mistmeadow for the first time.

Actually I should have the same number of posts as you by Saturday or so ^_^;

And do you mean are you and I fighting? I hope not =(

ROFL, still drawing a blank on pertinent information on Biagio. Least as far as anything that has any real bearing on the game.

If I may interject. Start by stating who is family is in terms of wealth and fame, if they alive or dead, and then how he became a merc. Alternatively he has three nick names how did he get them.

I don't know you average 14 posts and by that standard you'd have 42 more posts by Saturday which is less then needed. Also we are disallowing me to post in theory.

The amount of posting should go up after noon tomorrow, as I have no more finals to study for ^_^

I will win in the end using my normal strategy. Slow and steady posting that continues when the competition leaves lit, and hiring a hit man to make the competition leave.

Well you're already far behind me then because I've already ordered a hit on you.

Run run as fast as you can, i've sent a Gingerbread Man after you.

My point was that I try in general not to put anything on the bio that wouldn't be common information. We're supposed to learn about the charachters via interaction. Asking questions, not well no need to ask that I already read the bio.

I think I'll focuse on the merc and nick names thing, hopefully I'll have it up when I get home from the office. Till then have fun!

Using the bio for in game interaction is essentially god moding or so goes my opinion. But the entire metagame knowledge concept is foreign to some players so I see your point. I just always put bios. Unless of coarse I am playing DnD.

I usually consider Godmoding=charachter that cannot be harmed. I don't really have a term for using OOC information IC. I do see your point but in my experience it is difficult/impossible not to use that information if you have it. It leads to one of two things, either the charachter doing something that would/could be viewed as unnatrually brilliant because they instantly knew what questions to ask to get to their goal OR they end up really tip toing around the issue because they don't want to screw up.

I was told Meta-game knowledge is the proper term for items like making gun powder when your character is as dumb as a brick and before the discovery of gunpowder. Beyond that the term makes since to me so I use it.

The great asset of bios in my mind is two fold. First it forces me to think more deeply on the character. So I can control the character better and drop hints at past events in posts and such, which is useful for a roleplaying sight but less so for the kick down the door style dnd games. Secondly it allows cross player ploting, "oh you sacked this village? my character comes from that village." That makes the two players more active because they want to reach that point of story in which they can drop hints or finally have one character notice the connection.

In short bios help me with plot.
