I am not one who focuses on scores or readers. However, this morning while I was deleting a series of hurtful comments left by who I can assume was Hans Gruber's stunted cousin, I noticed 2 things. First off, someone had lowballed the scores on all my stories, at the same time. Secondly.... I got my first "H". So as mad as I want to be, I also want my kudos.

So what is the SOP for celebrating first-time mild literary success? I can afford neither cocaine or high-end gigalos, but I may accept them if offered. Long story short, I am a hypocrite for being so pumped about something that I tell people doesn't matter. It only has 10 votes, so it will probably be gone tomorrow. Maybe I will settle for a pat on the back or a foot rub.

Pat. Pat. Pat.

Congratulations.

There's nothing wrong with tooting your horn in celebration. Have fun with the success and take the opportunity to advertise your stories if you want to.

I clicked on the link, and there are no stories listed on your submissions page, only poems. Do you publish stories under a separate name?

If you want people to see your stories you should link to them as well.

Thanks Simon. I never look at my scores, but that bright Red H caught my eye.

Mostly poems, my alt posts stories but has never gotten higher than 4.41. This is my first ever H

Your first Red H?

Buy yourself a box of chocolates.

Your second and subsequent ones? Make yourself a cup of coffee and meditate on how easy it is to lose them,

Thanks Oggbashan, I think I'll have a minute before I get another one. I'm definitely feeling the chocolate though.

I just got my first one a few days ago too.

High five my fellow celebrated Author. I posted props to you in your thread. That is actually how I got the idea to do this. I probably could done it in the Poets Hangout, but all five of us already know.

Those are just for contests right?

The Green E is an "editor's choice" (Laurel) award, bestowed by her upon submission and posting--stories that she particularly liked when she was processing stories through to the file. Not related to contests.

Ok here is a stupid question. Laurel is a person right? But she reads and reviews every submission, how is that even possible? I just can't imagine that there are enough hours in the day.

Congratulations, treat yourself to some snack and.dri k and muse on how Lit voters manage to be even more arsy and downright weird than the general public.

I've been watching the scores on my winning Valentine's story plummet since the contest ended (4.92 to 4.35, I think, though it's 4.5 again now). They can take my red H but they'll never get my blue W!

Getting a well-rated poem is definitely an achievement! Celebrate and get on with your next writing project...

Laurel is amazing...

Thanks, I will. Your story is a winner, not for the score, H or W, but because you took the time and effort to put yourself out there. You left yourself exposed to the scrutiny of horndogs and snobs. Most of which don't have the balls to do the same. That alone should be worth a 4.5.

And BTW Chaparoning Matthew was hot AF

So she is flesh and blood, not just Lits Oracle?

She started this place so she could read some good old porn, uh, erotica. The place has kind of grown. Just recently, I think she started to use a reader program to do quick scans on what she can't get too. Don't ya just hate it when the thing you are passionate about gets too big to handle.

Green Es are given by Laurel for things she really likes.

Blue Ws are for a win or place in the themed and monthly contests.

Green Es are rare. I just counted there have only been 26 since 1/1/2017. Considering how many stories have come out since then, they are a rare sighting for sure.

That's why I lubricate. Just kidding. I just always thought Laurel was some kind of program. That's really amazing.

She would only have time to scan them. Presumably when one pops up that looks particularly inviting to her, she gives it a deeper read.

Her Green Es are based on more than just on the quality of the story, though. In my sr71plt days, she awarded my stories 11 Green Es until the day she didn't like me pointing out areas of the site that needed updating and she declared me to be a troll. After that, no Green Es. I don't think that was because my stories got worse.

Congratulations, and sorry to hear that.
