In this category, please nominate the poet who affected you the most in 2007. Whose poems did you seek out and enjoy? Who made laugh/cry/etc.?

Poet must be an active Literotica member (meaning their account is still currently on Literotica – it has not been removed or cancelled) who submitted stories during the year 2007 (and those submissions must still be on the site).

One nomination per member, please. If multiple nominations are made by a member, only the first listed will count.

I'm not crazy about the concept of this award, since it seems to make some people tense, but at least this year I think there is an obvious nominee. Lessee:
  • Poet must be an active Literotica member. Check.
  • Poet must have submitted poems in 2007 that are still on site. Check.
  • Poet must have affected you (i.e., me) the most in 2007. This is more difficult a call, of course, but, what the hey: check.
  • Poet was one you seek out to enjoy. (I know, I changed the preposition slightly. Sorry.) Oh, baby. Check!
  • Poet made you (again, me) laugh/cry/etc. Golly. I'm blushing here. Um, check.
See how easy this is? It should be no slam on all the other wonderful poets here at Litlandia for me to nominate unpredictablebijou for Most Influential Poet.

I mean, I've tried everything to get her to sleep with me, so maybe this will work.

Sheesh.

No, no, I am serious. Just check out her excellent poems and think about all the discussion she has prompted. About poetry, Jack. Poetry. That stuff with choppy and odd lines with the confusing, literary syntax and obscure references. Yeah, that stuff.

That other stuff is just gravy. Tasty, but bad for you.

Got to change my mind and give my nomination to Angeline.

{I'm torn between her & bj and since T gave his nod to bj, I'll give mine to Ange.}

While she's had a light year submitting, she has been an outstanding reviewer, offering excellent helpful comments in her reviews and PC's; she shows us the way constructive criticism should be offered, a fine standard to which we could all strive.

I nominate Angeline -- just because I can. And she's a hell of a poet, bless her heart!

I feel many poets qualify, but I need to go with the poet who's been influencing me all year and well, the choice is winnowed to only one grain... I nominate Angeline and for all those reasons Tee-Zed eta: (except to get her to sleep with me) mentioned for upbj.

Whatsamattau? You think I snore? Well, someone says I do, sometimes, But nevermind.

I nominate Champagne1982. Champers has been here as long as I have, her growth over the years into a wonderful poet is substantial and I can't think of another person here in our little world who puts more time into helping others with their poetry, willingly jumping into challenges, and generally making the Lit poetry world a good place to be. It's Champ's turn. :)

There are many ways to spin this one. The lit member that have influences most poets? The lit poet whose poetry have influenced most? The lit poet whose poetry have influenced me the most?

I go for option three.
And nominate vampiredust.
A consistently poetic, eye opening view of the world, of a consistent quality that I keep trying to achieve, but never quite manage to master. I mean, really.

I think I nominated him last year too, but it bears repeatin'.

I seriously, seriously considered voting for TMV. Here's why: I have to go with influential on a personal level, the poet who most inspires my own writing. In this case, TMV's hostile, argumentative gibberish has been a consistent and powerful inspiration for me to leave the board entirely, refocus and go write something. In that sense, he wins. Not that he doesn't have competition, of course.

But although there are many incredible poets, and influential ones, and each of them deserves recognition, on a personal level I have to give my vote to

vampiredust.

vampiredust's flexibility and innovation with language and image has routinely blown the top of my head off. I am immersed in the words themselves and carried away by the tonalities.

When I read vampiredust's work, I hear myself say, quite often, i want to be able to do that. That defines inspiration, influence. Everyone else does that to me too, it's just that V does it more often than anyone else. This year, anyway.

What was the Ubiquitous one's quote "Big Fucking Yawn" .
I nominate Senna Jawa, he's done as much over in New Poems as she has. In other words Nothing. Your dip into the standard fare amuses me, so much so I almost nominated you. But Senna amuses me more. And he has written with intelligence over in threadwhoredom. A rare commodity.

P.S. thanks for the "curmudgeon" tag, yeh babe, that was yours, made it real easy for me to say this. Otherwise, ho fucking hum.

Fuck the deferential hierarchy around here, you can check out her dimwitted "reasonable" stock response when some asshole stepped way over the line, that right, way over. In real life someone could have gotten killed over it.
Is this reasonable to post this here? Just as reasonable as the responses I've seen over in threadwhoredom. Congrats to you on moving on up in the hierarchy.

Next year, if I see that you've managed to improve your language skills to the point where you can write at least one post without a comma splice, a spelling error or a fragment, you'll get my personal vote, sweetie.

money - mouth, motherfucker.

Senna Jawa.

1. because he writes well.
2. because when he argues a case he is usually right
3. when he argues wrongly it's still good enough to make me think
4 His work is enduringly honest and authentic.(which is 1 above explained)

but I think Angeline will win because she is a fine poet and a great teacher.

Well UBJ- you could follow a thread, instead of jumping in as the the spokesperson for the worst of the status quo around here. Next year we'll see if you can improve your logic skills to the point where maybe you have something a little more constructive to say than your PR in the defense of the indefensable, OK dearie.

What was it you called Elaurd, "a gold plated dickhead"; what he wonders is the feminine version of....:D

wow, man. No more threadjacking. Humored it once, but this is silly. This moves to the poetry area.

good luck to all in the running for this thing.

WickedEve.

Do I need to put an explanation? It is so obvious. Best damn poet in the place, among many many talented people, none of whom will take offense by my distinction because they know I love them too. But her inspiration and influence.... it is tangible. She is contageous. How do you spell contageous. She never sucks the life out of this place, always adds a spark of something, at times like a static that zaps your fingers unexpectedly, or just adds a tension in the air that makes the hairs stand up on your arm and you want to return to see when the real shock will come.... sometimes it comes like the paddles they use to revive the dead.

Okay she has won before, I don't care, she deserves it.

Even though I want to nominate twelveoone because he cracks me the hell up he is so ballsy.

Oh, stop before I end up loving you! :D
Go for number boy because I don't have poems up anymore.
I like 1201.

Angeline

Angeline is my nomination. Not only is she a skilled writer whose poems are a pleasure to read, but she also gives generously to countless other writers and everyone in the poetry forum. I can't separate these two things when I think of her impact as a poet.

Thank you, Angeline, for your knowledge and advice. You certainly helped me. Your positive influence on this site is impossible to measure. :rose:
