Thanks to Snoop for the inspiration...

Yeah. The 80's. They rocked. I barely grew up in 'em but I love 'em anyway.

What do you remember? What do you love? What do you hate? What crazy thing is coming back in style? What embaresses you now to think about?

Yeah. The 80's.

Also, from SnoopDog...

The early 80's as an off-shoot of 70's punk . . . kewl.

But as one got into it, it sucked in a major way. I mean really, pastels, parachute pants, technotronic, big hair, cougar boots and T.J. Hooker? Gives me major shivers, even now.

It got better around '88 though, thank fucking god!

That's why I got married in '85.. Definitely a good time to stop worrying about keeping up with the times. LOL

LOL, I think I woke my neighbors :D

LOL I got married in '88 and you can so tell it was the '80s by the pictures. Big puffy sleaves and gawdy colours.

Best thing about the '80s, big hair and peter pan get away boots!!

Dont forget the legwarmers, Members Only jackets and Izod shirts. :D

Well, I was born '81 so I don't really experienced the 80's. But I can recall that at that time in the world there was a lot of bad clothes, hairdo's and some music going on.

As for all the good things I guess for me those are the childhood memories. Cute tlevision shows (Hey, the Fraggles kinda started this thread, :D ), some really good music, and of course the 80's ended with an event that of coursefor me and my country was very special.

I was born in the early 70's, so I remember the 80's very much. I like the fact that I'm still hearing 80's tunes on the radio, and also love the bell bottom look (late 60's and 70's). I'm just glad they're not in those funny looking stripes anymore :D

Hey! I LIKED parachute pants!

The 80's were the greatest decade ever! Music took a downward turn after the 80's, and people started taking themselves far too seriously. I was the decade of tacky excess, and I for one raise a glass and toast the whole damn thing!

(Harumph. I"m going to go play with my Rubix Cube now and listen to some Twisted Sister, thank you all very much!)

Fraggles, V, Fame...
Ski pants (tights), legwarmers, shoulderpads...
Trance Dance, Anki Bagger, Lili & Suzzie, Nena, A-HA, Alphaville, Europe, Milli Vanilli...

Ahhh, the nostalgia...:)

(OK, so I was only a kid back then, but it was still FUN!)

I actually started to collect as many of the big 80's music hits as possible for the mp3 disc from beyond. I got a couple hundred I think, and I still have a list and a half to go!

What song do you think (like it or not) best sums up the 80's?

I would have to say Dead or Alive's "Right Round" would have to be up there.

:D

I don't know if it sums it up, but I love "Take on Me"
the song from The Breakfast Club (the name which I can't remember all of a sudden)
And 80's Madonna. She rocked.

Madonnas a good call for summing up the 80's. Specifically, "Material Girl" I think sums up the preppie 80's very well.

"Take on Me" was by A-ha.
