i watch snip-its of the show while flipping through channels just to laugh at the religious zealots. i wonder what isn't evil in their eyes. today i actually heard the main old guy say that low fat diets are evil becuase they're not biblical...what the fuck is that. he didnt' even cite any specific scripture or give any specific reasons why or anythign like that. i can't believe that ppl actually send them emails to find out what is okay to think. can't people who are supposedly all strong in their convictions think for themselves or do they need a crotchety nasty old religious zealot telling them what to do and think all the time?

i consider myself a christian but a very open minded one. i consider anyone who sincerely believes in anything anyone in the 700 club says is a close minded idiot who needs to step back and look deeply at what it is htey actually believe in.

just my two cents. what do all of you think?

I want to know what the hell close minded means.

close minded, you seriously want me to tell you what that means? otay... if you're close minded then to me that means that you cant see the possibilities right in front you and you can't open yourself up to really experience life.
in the case of hte 700 club i see these ppl as closeminded becuase if it isn't in their description of what they think the bible says to them specifically then automatically tis evil and of hte devil, like meditation for example. they see it as evil, why can't you meditate and focus on your prayers and opening yourself up to gods love. or something like that. see what i mean? not everything is so damn black and white. life is colorful and there isnt always a clear border between everything.

he's mocking you for not saying "closed" minded misti, pay no attention it's a nit pick.

weevil, behave!

No, shut up. She actually thinks the term is "close minded"

That's a pretty thin nit-pick. Personally I would have ragged her for the use of "ppl".

That grates.

I'd agree if it was a typo. But she actually thinks it's close minded.

Gotta disagree with you here bud.

Due to differences in regional dialects, "close-minded" might be the accepted form of the phrase where she comes from. Sort of like "irregardless"...it's becoming so common that it'll be accepted use and in the dictionary as a completely legit word in a few years, if it isn't already. In other words, there's wiggle room there.

No wiggle room on "ppl". That's conclusively grating, no matter where one hails from.

Now, what other inane crap can we argue about?

The hyphen ?

Is it the hyphen that's bothering you?

closed-mind·ed, adj. -- Variant of close-minded.

close-minded
ADJECTIVE: Not tolerant of the beliefs or opinions of others, for example: bigoted, hidebound, illiberal, intolerant, narrow-minded. See ACCEPT.

And sort of like irregardless it's wrong and it annoys the hell out of me.

Boy, I'm going to be great with a kid won't I?

Don't get me started on how Americans have butchered the English language.

They can spell colour "color" all they want and it's still wrong.

I personally take the time to get up and turn off the television. The 700 club is hazardous to my sense of humor.

TY, but you should realize it's just my online personality. I'm not sure how much longer I'll be able to keep up the facade.
