The 6th Harry Potter-book will be titled Harry Potter & the Half Blood Prince.

It's been confirmed by JKR herself.

Question is, who IS this half-blood prince? It's not Harry nor Voldemort, JKR says.

The HP-fan world is buzzing with guesses and rumours.

Are you sure that's only just been announced Svenska, the title sounds familiar and I'm sure I've heard it before!!

Yes, I'm sure. JKR has confirmed it.

And yes, Seamus Finnigan is a halfblood. So is Dean Thomas and Rubeus Hagrid.

Hmmmm, Maybe it's just been confirmed then, but I'm sure I've heard the title before.

Having thought about it, if I remember correctly, I think she's had names for the books since first writing them. I suspect she has now simply confirmed the books title.

Does this mean it's any nearer print I wonder???

Well, every day she works on it, bringing it closer and closer to Print Day. But it's still a very, very long wait. I think she let out the title just to tease us - she knows very well how anxious we are for news and rumours about the progress of the book.

Apparently, there are loads of clues in book 2 that hints towards this book - she's even put in a chapter in book 6 that was originally meant to be in book 2, but she removed it from that one because it didn't fit very well. It fits in book 6, though.

And it's kind of intriguing that the 6th book is going to be about a half-blood prince, when we learned in book 2 that Tom Riddle was a half-blood. Yet JKR sats it's not him, it's not THAT easy to figure out, she says.

*goes off to re-read the passage about Justin Finch-Fletchley's family background*

Hmmm, another good year yet then!

At this rate, the films will have caught up with the books by the time we reach book 7.

Oh well, worth the wait, all the same.

I'm curious to see how the movie makers are going to film the Weasley twins grand exit from Hogwarts.:D

The reason why the name might sound familiar is because it was released around a month ago. Those who frequent JKR's site accessed it. More information is being trickled out about this new book through the site too.

Half-blood prince = Lupin? Remus mythologically was a prince, sort of, of Rome.

Svenska, my mother and I are CERTAIN the bloody second book comment is just to drive us all nuts... We both re-read it and its just not giving anything up.

And the title was announced a while ago... But YAY! Its closer :)

Has anyone here happened to have seen the Prisoner on I-Max?

Or think it would be worth seeing there rather than in the regular theater?

We don't know anything about Lupin's parents, so we don't know if he's a half-blood or not. The fact that he's a werewolf isn't enough to make him a half-blood, I think we're talking genetics here.

Just for the record, yes JKR was planning to have Half Blood Prince storyline in Book 2, but she cut it out completely and she says that Book 2 has no reference to it at all.

The accepted wisdom is that the latest film is the best. I'm an argumentative pratt who disagrees.

To me, as the books got longer, the films had to cut more, so got worse.

I'd recommend the Imax version to give maximum impact to the medium, so as to compensate for the inevitable ommissions.

Just my f5 penny-worth...

f5 (almost f6)

it maybe someone new

maybe the half blood prince will be someone visting hogwarts or a new kid

Latest news from JKR:

We now have confirmation from JKR herself that Blaise Zabini IS a boy.

Rats! I went for the Girl!Blaise option.

Remember the scene where Hagrid showed the class the thestrals, and Harry, Neville and one more pupil could see them? Was this Blaise Zabini? Or Theodore Nott? (Both of them being Slytherins, they may very well have had encounters with people dying...)

Having a lousy memory for this sort of thing, at first thought, I would have said Luna was the other pupil that could see the Thestrals. But isn't she in Hufflepuff or Ravenclaw??

Luna's a Ravenclaw, but she's one year younger than Harry and NOT in his class.

The person who saw the thestrals was he same age as Harry, and since Gryffindor and Slytherin hav Care of Magical Animals together, and no other Gryffindor but Harry and Neville was mentioned, I think it's safe to guess that the 3rd one was a Slytherin.
