In this category, please nominate the poet who affected you the most in 2004. Whose poems did you seek out and enjoy? Who made laugh/cry/etc.?

Poet must be an active Literotica author who submitted stories during the year 2004.

One nomination per member, please. If multiple nominations are made by a member, only the first listed will count.

Most Influential Poet

LadyCibelle -- not necessarily because of her poetry itself, because of her influence on me as a writer. I should point out that LadyCibelle seldom writes erotic poetry (the reason for the qualifier in the previous sentence -- sorry, LadyCibelle), but her other poetry is deeply hearfelt and often very moving.

As for her influence on me as a writer, LadyCibelle has become a dear friend, encouraging me at every step. I read her essay "How to Piss Off an Editor," found myself agreeing with her, contacted her and told her as much, and asked to take the challenge of sending her my stories. Suffice to say that my writing has NOT pissed her off, that she really enjoys it, and that I'm striving to do even better work because of her encouragement. I'm trying to please four women (Patricia51, LadyCibelle, Linda_s and Laurie) with the quality of my writing -- a daunting task because I'm not female and the women are very diverse, but they have all appreciated what I try to accomplish and they are keeping me going.

Various through the year but 'I Can Love You' and 'Berlin to L.A ' are two. She has inspired me constantly :D

My nomination as poet of the year can only go to smithpeter. :rose:

Modesty is such a nice quality. There are tons of great poets on here and I really do read the poetry-I can't write it worth a shit but I enjoy reading it. It's hard to choose one person, but Laurel says only one to a person and it's the first one named so, it's probably obvious where this is leading but my choice is Lauren Hynde

Consistently excellent and not meant to take anything away from the others that do so well:)

I also nominate Lauren Hynde. Her poems take my breath away, make me think, and sometimes make me cry.

I nominate annaswirls as she was/is the most influential poet to me this past year.

My nomination goes to Impressive for constantly leaving me stunned at the beauty of her words, and the apparent ease with which she captures emotions, and transfers them to the screen.

Liar
always lending a hand and writing his wonderful prose. his work always leaves me breathless.

I've known for some time who I would choose. Someone whose poetry influences me. I not only relish reading his words, but he offers excellent critiques, and he's a nice guy. :)

I don't know if I should be qualified to make a nomination, having only known this site for the last two months of 2004. However, if my nomination is allowed to count in this category, after much struggle between poets with whom I've become a bit familiar, it must be Lauren Hynde.

The poems force me to wince and struggle, sometimes, which has a stretching effect on my own craft. The comments are sharp, even if I do not always agree. This poet makes me think and grow. The courageous use of the English language is nothing short of astounding.

Lynde is highly worthy of this honor.

I deeply appreciate Impressive's nomination, but my time here during 2004 was very short. Maybe this year will bring new things for me. Lauren and others who might have gotten my nod but for a hair's breadth have inspired me to start writing (and thinking) again after a decade of silence.

never an easy choice, there are so many wonderful people here on lit. :rose:

I would like to nominate twelveoone

besides enjoying his work, he brought the Interract threads to life, and those threads have helped me so much, in looking at my work and experimenting with "things". also, he gies great feedback, honest and helpful :)

Lit awards

I nominate Maria2394. Her work is very, very erotic and very, very warm and sensitive. She my all time favorite.

the poet I nominated last year will be the most influential on me for a very very long time...motivating me to write write write and feel and live. spinning my head around enough that I saw inside myself and becoming comfortable with writing what I saw.

but I want to talk about

Wicked Eve

She not only Writes many poems, they are of high quality, varied, intelligent.

However, I do not necessarily think that this should be the key to the most influential.

I am not sure if my writing is influenced by her or not.

Eve is there, for everyone. We all know she could be successful with her writing wherever she would take it, but she stays at lit.

When someone posts a poem on the thread, she will respond, every time, even if it is difficult to find gold in a pan full of, well, you know.

She is open.

Eve is there, doing reviews, thoughtful reviews.

Keeping things peaceful with her humor when there is a struggle.

She posts mucho comments. More than I think anyone does.

She is, in my opinion, the most influential person in keeping alive the community of poets.

I wish I could nominate so many others, but I see many of them have been already--

for their new perspectives, their loyalty, friendship when things were unbearable for me, the dedication to keeping the poetry community open and productive, and always growing. For the new poets who brought with them their own styles and talents, and rubbed off on me in many ways.

snifff sniff

There are three I'd LOVE to vote for, but can only choose one.

Tarablackwood22

Impressive and The Mutt, love you guys, sorry I couldn't vote for you as well :(]

Is this supposed to be the most influental poet for me personally, or the most influental poet for the Lit community?

If it's the first, I'd say Liar.
Because he taught me how to write poetry from scratch, has an incredible way of patiently explaining the most academic things in a way that even a bimbo like me can understand, showing me the beauty in having control over what I'm doing. And no other poet's work influences me more on a daily basis. But I think that's not how I should choose my nomination, most of this has not been within the Lit frame. I just wanted to give him an official thank you-nod. :)

For the community, I would say that there are three contestants. WickedEve, twelveoone and Lauren Hynde. As well as writing some outstanding inspiring poetry, they have been paramount in keeping the community active in different ways. 1201's hard work in the interact threads and his straightforward honest comments, Eve's constant presence in the forum and on the PCs, Lauren's rescurrecting of the gunfights, and readiness to pull a workload for the group and the forum activities.

There are more of you that would qualify, but I think those are a notch above the rest in sheer effort.

Since Eve and Lauren have a few nominations already, I'd like to use mine to second Maria2394's nomination for twelveoone.

Active author....
So if they don't post anymore they aren't eligible?
If possible I'd nominate Tarablackwood22.
She did post in 2004 but has since semi-retired I think.
She did more for me through her writing, suggestions, editing and nagging than I can explain.
I miss her and her writing.

:rose:

Otherwise I nominate Angeline
she is one of the few poets here that, no matter what she writes I will read it and say
" Jesus that's good"
and read it again and always take something away with me that I will use the next time I write.
She also has helped with editing and encouragement and has helped me see things in writing I'd have never seen without her eyes.
:rose:

I only read and vote on poems. I can't write them and feel even less qualified to comment on them.

I have 2 nominations though ... I enjoy both and read both.

My Erotic Tail

Tathagata

This is difficult almost to the point of silly; there are so many talented and devoted poets here that to single one out for recognition becomes an unwarrented swipe at the others. Writers like annaswirls, jthsierra, angeline, tathagata, wickedeve, jd4george, maria2394, neonurotic, champagne1982, liar, lauren hynde, 1201, boomerengue, etc. etc. etc. all show talent and devotion to the betterment of the poetry community here. They all contend for "most influential" in some capacity.

With that caveat I nominate... Pat Carrington. He has been quieter of late, but his work on the Passion and Construction threads consistently awes and inspires me. Additionally, he has been gracious in his assistance and insightful in his comments. It is the combination of his skill, his dedication to the community and his helpfullness that leads me to regard him as the most influential poet currently at Lit.

Angeline, I reckon, is the sure bet.

(Any Mint Julips at this event?)

A ten way tie perhaps. I dont know-

Everyone is influential-

but my cash is on her.

:)

Damnation and hellfire, this was a tough choice.

I the poets that have influenced my writing this year are too many to mention, and damn diverse in style and voice. Many who we don't see as much of now as earlier this year. Tarablackwood, Pat Carrington, Perks, Linbido, echoes_s...the list can go on.

But if I have to single out one name (and that's what I'm here for), that name belongs to one who is still a regular; Annaswirls.

This is so hard, but I'm going with Impressive. Her words just speak to me. Amazing words, big heart, wonderful person.
