Mental health experts explain why Joe Biden needs to throw the book at Donald Trump

President-Elect Joe Biden has continually said he hopes to reforge a bipartisan governing consensus when he takes office next month. He has called for a more collegial atmosphere in Washington and “reaching across the aisle” to get the nation back on its feet.

No doubt there is a need for healing divides and finding a common language. Pathological personalities do not respond well to conciliatory gestures, as this may be experienced as coddling, indulging, and giving license to further transgressions. This has been seen with Donald Trump and his cronies, who have used others’ allowance to expand a subculture of violence and abuse. Instead, what gains respect with these personalities are firm boundaries and limit setting, despite their protest.

While I do not disagree with the points in the article, It does soft soap the whole argument at the base of the issue. America was formed as a Country of Law for everyone. However, we don't apply the law equally and some times have gone way over the line to be unequal just because of "Cultural Heritage" or the mistaken idea of Class privileges.

Trump & Co is the result of allowing him to get away with his shit for the last 50 years. THe law has failed us, many times over, but now is the time we either hold Joe's feet to the fire and demand he let the full force of the law finally prevail on the PeeResident.

We need to make sure that the Law will be upheld and Trump & Co face the music. To do any less would mean that America is a fraud.

Joe Biden doesn't have to personally orchestrate anything on getting Trump behind bars where he belongs and where the American people need to see he's been put, and so far Biden is playing it right. All he need do is put in an AG who will actively pursue the law with both Republicans and Democrats. The president should be hands off of this process and Biden has very explicitly and properly and publicly said he'd be hands off. A good and diligent AG and DOJ will be going after Trump and associates--along with state AGs and private civil litigants, naturally. The already are.

However Joe should appoint an aggressive AG, not a limp dicked appeaser, and give him the instruction to use the full extent of his power to enforce the law equally from the TOP down.

Well, yes. Him or her. I think that was included in my post.

Smith & Wesson shares surge on strong gun sales

Shares of Smith & Wesson jumped Friday after the gunmaker reported record quarterly revenues on a surge in sales during the contentious US presidential election.

Revenues more than doubled in the quarter ending October 31 to $479 million, resulting in profits of $52.2 million during that three-month stretch.

Since the start of the year, nearly eight million Americans have purchased guns for the first time, with about 40 percent of them women, according to the company. Gun-owners own an average of eight firearms.

Shares finished at $15.91, up 5.2 percent.

With the recent breakup of Remintgon-Marlin and other gun companies sagging, despite record gun sales. It is a least one bright spot for the economy.:)

Trump attacks 2 GOP governors on flight to Georgia rally: ‘Republicans will NEVER forget this’

Republicans have been “working frantically behind the scenes” to keep President Donald Trump on message during his Saturday campaign rally in Georgia, but the efforts do not seem to be working.

Aboard Air Force One on the flight to the rally, Trump attacked two GOP governors: Brian Kemp of Georgia and Doug Ducey of Arizona — and seemed to threaten political retribution for the pair not going along with the president’s debunked conspiracy theories about the election.

Trump holds large rally in Georgia — one day after the Peach State set a new coronavirus record

President Donald Trump departed the White House on Saturday for an evening campaign rally in Georgia — despite the coronavirus pandemic.

Trump is ostensively making the trip to support Sen. David Perdue (R-GA) and interim Sen. Kelly Loeffler (R-GA) in the January runoff elections that will decide control of the U.S. Senate. However, Republicans fear Trump will use his speech to continue bashing GOP Gov. Brian Kemp.

“The Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH) reported 4,947 net new confirmed infections and 1,429 net new antigen positive tests — or 6,376 combined cases — on Friday. The state also reported 43 confirmed new deaths attributed to COVID-19,” the newspaper reported. “The seven-day rolling average of confirmed and antigen positive cases is now about 10% greater than the summer surge of confirmed cases in July. The positivity rate for the gold standard molecular PCR test is now 12%, the highest it’s been since early August. Experts say a rate over 5% suggests the state’s testing isn’t capturing the breadth of new cases.”

Pictures from the rally show a large crowd without social distancing and few masks.

As expected Trump ran off the rails in Georgia tonight.

Trump makes multiple false claims in first campaign rally since election loss

Trump makes multiple false claims in first campaign rally since election loss

In a rambling, unfocused speech on Saturday, President Trump aired grievances about the November election during a campaign rally ostensibly meant to boost Georgia Senators Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue ahead of their runoff elections on January 5. In his first campaign event since losing the presidential election last month, Mr. Trump continued to deny President-elect Joe Biden's victory, instead peddling falsehoods about voter fraud and baselessly claiming the election was rigged.

Mr. Trump began the rally by incorrectly saying that he won the state, and was going to win the election, even though results have been certified in Georgia and several other states for President-elect Joe Biden.

80,000,000 voters can not be wrong, dipshit! :)

Biden's feet should definitely not be held to any fire.

Firstly any federal prosecutions will have to consider whatever use Trump makes of the clemency powers. I anticipate that Trump will pardon himself, his family and his friends. Possibly he may wish to extend clemency to associated Trump corporate legal personalities. Unlikely to succeed but great potential to bog down federal tax disputes for years; I wouldn't put anything past him. Biden should appoint a diligent AG and stand well back. He must not make Trump a martyr. The DA in NY appears to have the best chance of nailing Trump.

I do not think that many people appreciate the damage which has been done by Trump and his cohorts, to DOJ, obviously but also fundamentally to Defence, State, and especially the CIA. The day Trump preferred the advice of Putin to that of the CIA was infamous. Institutions don't recover from that kind of traitor's behavior overnight.

The extent and depth of the repair work required is enormous. Biden has more important agendas than revenge. My chief worry about Biden is that he may place too much reliance on the (non existent ) goodwill of the GOP. They are already considering how to gerrymander 2024.

I hate this loathsome turd with the white hot fire of a thousand suns.

This past election was the BEST run I've ever seen in my life. Not a whiff of scandal. Perfect deadlines. D and R states alike. Even Florida. All during a pandemic. It was beautifully done. A lesson in how democracy runs. EVEN these R douchebags like Brian Kemp towed the line and did their job.

And this piece of rancid slime has been doing nothing but trying to convince people the opposite is true by taking a whizz every single day all over this process. Just literally acting like a 2 year old who takes off his diaper and wipes it all over his crib and the walls, i.e. American democracy.

Putin couldn't be happier. Sow doubt about democracy.

He should be arrested and charged with sedition.

Let us hope that from week one on, you diligently hold President Biden to account.

That would be a real public service to our posters.

Biden should appoint a diligent AG and stand well back.
That's why I suggest Preet Bahara or one of the many others who were personally slighted.

And this piece of rancid slime has been doing nothing but trying to convince people the opposite is true ...

He didn't get the most votes so it MUST have been a massive scam. If he had gotten the most votes, it would have been a perfect election.

Trump flops in another Georgia lawsuit — here’s what they messed up this time

Another lawsuit on behalf of President Donald Trump flopped on Monday, this time in Fulton County Superior Court. The suit was filed over the weekend asking that the judge invalidate the presidential election in Georgia and either order a new election or have the GOP-led legislature select electors. That makes a win/loss rate of 1 to 48 cases thus far.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Trump’s campaign ran into trouble for failure to pay the proper filing fee or fill out the paperwork correctly.

$170 Million raised but Trumpski tries to stiff the court? Typical!

"ran into trouble for failure to pay the proper filing fee or fill out the paperwork correctly"

Which doesn't address the merits of the case, or lack thereof.

Got booted in MI too by the way. Tough words from the Judge there.

A federal judge in Michigan denied ex-Trump campaign lawyer Sidney Powell’s request to decertify the state’s election result and slammed her claims of a vast election-fraud conspiracy as an assault on hard-fought voting rights, saying the “people have spoken.”

The suit against Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer and Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson is one of those Powell, who is no longer associated with President Donald Trump’s legal team, filed last month on behalf of Republican voters and referred to as releasing the Kraken, a mythical sea monster depicted in the 1981 fantasy film “Clash of the Titans.”

“Plaintiffs ask this court to ignore the orderly statutory scheme established to challenge elections and to ignore the will of millions of voters,” U.S. District Judge Linda V. Parker said in a ruling Monday denying Powell’s emergency motion to block election certification and force inspections of voting machines, software and security footage of polling places. “This, the court cannot, and will not, do.”

JackLuis is right - you are wrong.

This is not revenge - it is upholding the rule of law and its equal application. We need a tough AG that will not fuck around and prosecute crimes.

we should welcome a tough AG prepared to follow the rule of law against any and all the shits involved. however, they should be doing it as a course of their job and NOT at the demand/command of joe b. there has to be that separation to restore trust and confidence in the d.o.j as well as the role of president.

That is what both JL and I stated very plainly

Any pussy footing around, pardons etc are completely unacceptable. Prosecution needs to be to the fullest extent of the law and be regardless of party.

The worry is 'joe b" is going to be a pussy and/or make bad decisions and demand/command DOJ back off because he is so worried about "healing".

Pathological personalities do not respond well to conciliatory gestures, as this may be experienced as coddling, indulging, and giving license to further transgressions. yeah, sorry, you did... but his initial post using the phrase about holding his feet to the fire threw me off, especially as it was used as an 'either' and then i didn't see that completed.

but now is the time we either hold Joe's feet to the fire and demand he let the full force of the law finally prevail on the PeeResident.

joe seems to have made it quite clear, though, that it'll all be down to the doj and he won't be influencing how strongly/weakly they go after the guilty (or suspected). IF it pans out that he's telling them to play softball behind the scenes, THAT would be the time to hold HIM accountable.

can a convicted felon run for president? hope that's not the case!

To clarify my position, I think that BIden should be aware of what Obama did do by not pushing the DOJ to pursue War Crimes of the Bush admin and Cheney in particular for his torture and rendition crimes. Barack just let things lie and we ended up with a Trump.

If the Bush's had been prosecuted and it made clear that this sort of thing was not acceptable in a lawful society, many Republicans would have become much more bipartisan for fear that they too could face the full force of the Law.

But Noooo, he and Nancy were afraid that it would be too controversial and he could have been held accountable for terror bombing Americans with out due process, just because they were in Yemen, where freedom of expression is allegedly illegal.

You either enforce the law or declare that only blah people face retribution for being blah with out permission.

By the way, there is no statue of limitations of War Crimes!:)
