As the Trumptanic starts it 181st Voyage can it avoid reef of BLM, the whirlpool of Covid-19, the shallows of Jurisprudence, and the increasing guano showers sure to come?

Last week it seemed it hit every shitberg and sandbar as the Captain couldn't steer a straight course from the Port of Grift to the port of Re-election. Has the Captain lost his compass and sextant? In the unfamiliar waters of government, the Captain refuses the advice of experienced pilots and lookouts.

Follow the voyage of the Trumptanic as the Captain raves at shadows and orders erratic course changes in the unfamiliar waters of election season.

#TraitorTrump and ‘TRE45ON’ trend nationwide as outrage grows: ‘The biggest scandal Trump has faced’

President Donald Trump was greeted with outrage on Twitter after returning to the White House from a day of golfing.

The hashtags #TraitorTrump, #TrumpTreason and #TraitorInChief all trended nationwide on Twitter on Saturday. The phrase “TRE45ON” also trended, with the letters “a” and “s” replaced by the number 45, as Trump is America’s forty-fifth president.

Here’s some of the commentary on the bombshell New York Times report that Russia put bounties on US troops in Afghanistan — and Trump did nothing in response:

Wow. @realDonaldTrump put his relationship to Putin ahead of the lives of American soldiers. So he’s not only an incompetent, ignorant, misogynistic, sociopathic, lying racist, he flat out committed treason. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/06/26/us/politics/russia-afghanistan-bounties.html

Many people don't love him.

Trump has been a blackmailed asset of the Russian government, openly doing Putin's bidding, the entire time he's been in office.

Yes, I keep saying it--because it keeps being true.

Trump didn’t respond by putting bigger bounties on Russian soldiers? How uncharacteristic.

‘Treason on the links’: Lindsey Graham buried for playing golf with Trump after Russian bounty bombshell

One day after expressing concern that the Trump administration might have been aware of an offer by the Russians to pay a bounty for the murder of U.S. military members by terrorists, the South Carolina Republican was seen heading out for a round of golf with the embattled president.

Following the bombshell report from the New York Times, Graham tweeted, “Imperative Congress get to the bottom of recent media reports that Russian GRU units in Afghanistan have offered to pay the Taliban to kill American soldiers with the goal of pushing America out of the region.”

Those concerns didn’t seem to be enough for Graham to keep his distance from the president who was implicated in the report, with CNN’s Kaitlan Collin’s tweeting, “Dressed for golf, President Trump just left the White House with Sen. Lindsey Graham.”

That, naturally, set off Twitter users wondering what the two would be talking about on the greens with one commenter labeling it “Treason on the links.”

"We can only speculate how terrible the blackmail must be to support this level of betrayal."

"the other two players in their foursome are almost certainly Russian spies reminding Trump and Lady G about the kompromat they have on them.
Treason on the links."

"Graham will come back swearing Trump didn't know about the bounties and that half a dozen IC & DoD heads must roll. Mark my words."

The US intelligence community knew in January about Russian bounty on American soldiers

Trump’s claim he was ignorant of Russian bounty on US soldiers ripped apart by ex-CIA official

The best-case scenario is that Russia has dirt on Donald Trump

If Russia has dirt on Trump, that may be the best-case scenario. Because what are the alternatives? That he’s such a narcissist that Putin’s praise so flatters him that he’s willing to overlook Russia putting bounties on US troops’ heads? That he’s thanking them for meddling in the 2016 and 2020 elections on his behalf? That it’s just an act of trolling or revenge against the intelligence community and the FBI for embarrassing him with their reports of Russian interference and subsequent investigations? Or is he looking to assure that Russian cash continues to flow into his businesses after he leaves office? Maybe he still has high hopes to get that Trump Tower Moscow deal off the ground.

If the Commander-in-Chief is continuing to do Russia’s bidding after being informed that they’re paying people to kill US soldiers because they could destroy him, or possibly land him in prison, that would at least be an act of self-preservation. The alternatives are pettier, and would show that not only can he be bought off, but that he can be had cheaply.

‘I never heard this’: Trump’s former intel chief denies knowing about Russian bounty plot

President Donald Trump’s former acting Director of National Intelligence denied on Saturday knowing that Russia was reportedly offering bounties for the killing of U.S. troops in Afghanistan.

Richard Grenell served as Trump’s acting DNI from February 20th to March 26th despite having no intelligence expertise.

DNI for "over a month" and he didn't hear that?

Ambassador McFaul reveals damning flaw in the White House denial over Trump’s latest Russia scandal
“Why on earth would the [White House] wait 24 hours to respond with this given how damning the story is?” she wondered.

Ambassador McFaul, who also worked for the National Security Council, had his own question.

“And, if true, why on earth was the president not briefed on his intelligence?” McFaul asked.

Incompetent DNI???

Republicans demand answers from Trump on the Russian bounty on American soldiers

Republican leaders are demanding answers from the White House after it was reported Friday that the Russian Federation put a bounty on the heads of American soldiers fighting in Afghanistan, Bloomberg News reported.

According to a New York Times report Sunday, the American intelligence community members and commandos were aware of the information in January. President Donald Trump said that neither he nor Vice President Mike Pence knew about the information, despite multiple intelligence briefings over the past six months.

Top Republican Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) tweeted that if Trump’s claims were true, Americans deserve an explanation of “who did know and when,” and asked if information had been contained in the Presidential Daily Briefing.

"If reporting about Russian bounties on US forces is true, the White House must explain:
1. Why weren’t the president or vice president briefed? Was the info in the PDB?
2. Who did know and when?
3. What has been done in response to protect our forces & hold Putin accountable?"

Trump admits he wasn’t in on ‘high-level meetings’ about Russian bounty on American soldiers because it wasn’t ‘credible’

It seems the president has uncovered where the intelligence faltered in the reporting of a Russian bounty on American soldiers.

Trump tweeted late Sunday that “Intel” never told him about the story because they didn’t find it “credible” enough to tell him.

It was revealed that the intelligence officials believed it was credible enough to have “high-level meetings” at the White House in March about it. However, it seems that the “high-level” didn’t include the president and vice president.

Trump and Pence's clearances weren't high enough for the meetings?????????:)

John Oliver unleashes on Mike Pence for ‘open and stupid lie’ about US victory against the coronavirus

Vice President Mike Pence told the country this week that the United States successfully flattened the curve, and all is well on the coronavirus front. The comment came as President Donald Trump came back to Tulsa, Oklahoma, with eight staffers who had contracted the virus. Ahead of his massive rally last Saturday, Tulsa experienced a huge increase of COVID-19 cases, helping the state to a record number of cases.

Oliver then attacked Pence for choosing to obit the recommendation to wear a mask to help slow the spread of the virus.

“I will just never understand why or even how Republicans have made not spreading disease into a culture war issue,” Oliver said. “Honestly, this was a missed opportunity for them. You could have printed ‘Make America Great Again’ on a billion red masks and dropped them out of helicopters. People would have worn them! You’re not even capitalizing on a natural disaster correctly, you f*cking idiots!

Trump and Pence can't even apocalypse right!

Bloomberg editorial board issues scathing attack on Trump for trying to beat the Constitution

An editorial from the Bloomberg News editorial board makes the case that despite all of the attempts President Donald Trump has made to take down the democratic systems outlined by the founding fathers, the country still stands.

June 19, Attorney General Bill Barr announced that U.S. Attorney Geoffrey Berman out of the Southern District of New York was “stepping down,” though it soon became clear that he was being fired. Trump was aiming for an “acting” replacement but was bested by the process, which put the deputy in charge while the new DA is being approved by Congress.

The Trump saga has proven that the "Resilient System of the Deep State" is too much for the incompetent. Yet it also points out that the system is weak and can not effectively protect the people from the malicious mendacious mediocrity that is our current PeeResident, mostly because of the pitiful "patriots" in Congress who fail to use the power they have under the law to prosecute his law breaking.

The House was slow to press the PeeResident's mob with subpoenas and sanctions, out of fear that if they lost they would not be re-elected. Fear of controversy is another phrase for cowardice. They didn't demand the full Muller report or take action to defund the DOJ when Barr stonewalled them. They did not use the courts to enforce their will on the Executive branch.

Of course the Senate was complicit and completely corrupt. All the Rethuglicans failing to do their duty to the Constitutional oath they took. Moscow Mitch failed to do his duty to the people in his haste to butter the buns of the 1%.

The PeeResidents poll numbers are declining, but it will take decades for his polls to reach the depths of Congressional disapproval.

This is not new, it has been increasing since the days of the Reagan Administration. The President ignores the law and the apologists make excuses to not throw the bastard out on his ass for fear the it might be 'controversial' to enforce the law at the highest levels.

Of course the "people" get blamed for not holding the government responsible, for not electing "good" politicians, for ignoring their duty to vote. The press is criticized for not doing their jobs of holding the pol's feet to the fire, but they are held back by the publishers who need profits.

Yet the Courts have failed us as well. It is understood that Judges are biased and bought, selected for their particular bias, bribed by lifetime appointments and little effective oversight.

As good as our system is it has failed. But I'm not bitter, much.

A dereliction of duty: Bombshell NYT report reveals the Trump-Russia story is far from over

The news late yesterday was chilling: Russians have been paying Taliban militants to kill Americans in Afghanistan even as peace talks with the Taliban were under way, intelligence sources told The New York Times.

And Donald Trump has known about this intelligence since the beginning of March and has done nothing about it.

Actually, the more you roll this disclosure over in your mind, the worse it gets.

Fox News abandons vehicle in Seattle protest zone after hitting Black man: report

Activists in Seattle said on Monday that a Fox News team hit at least one protester with a vehicle.

The incident was said to have occurred inside Seattle’s Capitol Hill Organized Protest (CHOP) zone.

“A Fox News reporter shoved a woman in CHOP,” one witness wrote on Twitter. “Protestors surround her to protect and demand an apology from the reporter and in response this individual laughed. They have now abandoned their vehicle.”

According to the report, “the reporter and camera man actively drove into a black male protestor” while trying to flee the scene.

Video captured by Converge Media showed a black truck abandoned in a crosswalk in the protest area.

“I came in front of the car and he kept driving!” a protester explained to Converge Media. “He would not stop his car. This is a crosswalk. I’m pressing charges. Assault with a vehicle. That’s a deadly weapon. I’m suing Fox News. You’re going to pay this Black man.”

Nothing that's happened in the past affects the likelihood of what will happen in the Trump era . . . unfortunately. This is all new ground.

Trump Worried About Being Remembered As Loser, Haha Too Late

It's a day in 2020, so it's time for another blog post about Donald Trump's thin skin and his weak body and just his general malaise about life. Y'all heard he's losing really fuckin' hard, right? He is. This tweet just confirms it.

LOL sad.

So yeah, in 2016 the polls were a little off, at least some of them, and the Trump campaign is clinging to that like a gun and a Bible. Mostly though, the polls weren't that wrong, and were within the margin of error. What nobody saw coming was Trump pulling out a tiny squeaker in three states, after his campaign chair passed internal polling data on those three states to the Russians, and after then-FBI director James Comey busted in 11 days before the election -- around the time most of the big polling slows down -- and injected new "concerns" about Hillary Clinton's email "scandal" into the race.

in other words, in 2016, the polls were not wrong on the level of "The New York Times and Fox News and CNN and everybody else say Trump is losing by more than 10 points, now watch him win in a landslide!"

Don't worry, though, because Trump is going to fix it, and here's how:

Trump, who vented for days about the [big loser Tulsa rally], is starting to take a more hands-on role in the campaign and has expressed openness to adding more people to the team. [...]

Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner, who effectively oversees the campaign from the White House, is expected to play an even more active role.

Hahahahahahahahahahaha Trump is going to help more and Jared, Crown Prince of Failure, is going to help more and that's how they're going to fix it hahahahahahahahahahahahaha.

White House Declares Flawless Victory Over COVID, Except For One Or Two Flickering 'Embers.' No, Really.

Does spray tanning cause brain damage? Asking for a suspiciously orange White House press secretary who just claimed the coronavirus pandemic has reached the stage of mere "embers that need to be put out" in the United States.

OH, YES SHE DID.

"Kayleigh McEnany, while coronavirus cases are exploding across the nation, is still out here saying "we are aware that there are embers that need to be put out""

Alright, let's run down those corona "embers," shall we? Maybe roast a marshmallow or two over the last flickers as we congratulate ourselves on a job well done?

Or ... maybe not?

https://amp.cnn.com/cnn/2020/06/29/politics/trump-phone-calls-national-security-concerns/index.html

In hundreds of highly classified phone calls with foreign heads of state, President Donald Trump was so consistently unprepared for discussion of serious issues, so often outplayed in his conversations with powerful leaders like Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Recep Erdogan, and so abusive to leaders of America's principal allies, that the calls helped convince some senior US officials -- including his former secretaries of state and defense, two national security advisers and his longest-serving chief of staff -- that the President himself posed a danger to the national security of the United States, according to White House and intelligence officials intimately familiar with the contents of the conversations.
This explains why all of those perfect calls ended up on a secret server.
