The ‘fate of Trump’s presidency’ hinges on what happens over the next two days: report

According to a report from Politico’s Playbook, Donald Trump — already reeling from the fallout from the coronavirus pandemic that has paralyzed the country — needs Congress to come up with a financial package this weekend that will save the economy or his re-election may be in doubt.

As of Saturday morning, MSNBC was reporting that no deal between the Republicans and the Democrats appeared to be in sight, which could be bad news for Trump

“Among the unresolved issues are increased unemployment insurance payments, significant financial assistance for hospitals and health-care providers to treat coronavirus victims, and a proposed ‘State Stabilization Fund,’ which is intended to address billions of dollars in looming revenue shortfalls suffered by state governments during the emergency. But Republicans believe that Democrats won’t block any rescue bill over fear of the potential political fallout,” Politico is also reporting.

As the nation waits for "The Decider" to get his shit together, "Dithering Don' denies responsibility!

Trump is still ‘cherry-picking’ the coronavirus numbers to make himself look good

Writing for Politico on Saturday, Anita Kumar noted that President Donald Trump suffers from a “scoreboard mentality” that requires him to break down the world into numbers and earn the best ones — and that mentality has not equipped him to offer meaningful leadership in a global pandemic.

“President Donald Trump is always keeping score,” wrote Kumar. “Sometimes it’s a simple brag — boasting about the highest State of the Union TV ratings in history, trumpeting that he appointed more judges than George Washington, inflating the number of electoral college votes he won in 2016. But cherry-picked numbers are also central to how Trump comprehends a crisis and crafts a positive narrative. As the coronavirus raced around the globe and seized the world’s economy, he has cited numbers to suit his own story that the pandemic would quickly pass and that his administration was in control.”

It is hard to steer the Ship of State with out a rudder and only one screw!

There’s a massive leadership gap at the top on coronavirus — and that absence is already deadly

One of the arguments in support of the Affordable Care Act that Chief Justice John Roberts cited, when he sided with the court’s majority to uphold the law as constitutional, was the idea that health care cannot be solely left to the states. A disease, after all, does not respect borders.

So far, everything about the coronavirus pandemic is playing out as predicted. If the United States only follows the limited guidance given by the Trump administration, then the current trajectory will likely lead to over 9 million people infected and nearly 1 million deaths. Traditionally public health has been left to individual states, but the fight against COVID-19 is a global crisis that calls for a coordinated effort. Instead, it’s the clearest case yet that the federal government, under President Trump’s addled leadership, is tragically leading from behind.

Negotiations lag on $1 trillion stimulus for virus-hit US

US lawmakers urgently negotiating a $1 trillion emergency package to salvage an economy ravaged by the coronavirus missed a Republican-imposed deadline to reach an agreement by the end of Friday.

Senate Republicans were seeking a rapid deal in order to hold a final vote Monday on a bill aimed at allocating vast sums of federal dollars to American households as well as for industries that help form the backbone of a suddenly teetering economy.

Negotiations stalled despite Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell setting a Friday night deadline.

Mitch and the Party of NOPE! still fucking that chicken!:eek::eek:

Airlines threaten to ‘take draconian measures’ against 750,000 employees if Congress doesn’t pass bailout

The chief executives of the largest US airline companies asked Congress Saturday for urgent help avoiding widespread layoffs among the industry’s 750,000 employees.

“Unless worker payroll protection grants are passed immediately, many of us will be forced to take draconian measures such as furloughs,” the CEOs said in a letter to leaders of both houses of Congress distributed by the Airlines for America trade group.

Robert Reich says airlines ‘shouldn’t see a dime of taxpayer money’ in a coronavirus bailout

“As a former secretary of labor, I can tell you that the airlines don’t deserve a $50 billion bailout,” he explained. “In the last 10 years, they spent 96% of their cash flow to buy back shares of their own stock in order to boost executive bonuses.”
“They shouldn’t see a dime of taxpayer money,” Reich concluded.

Oh look,A Flying Fuck Tussle!

Trump had a game plan to destroy Joe Biden in the general election — but coronavirus has ruined it

“President Donald Trump’s top political advisers in recent weeks envisioned unleashing a massive advertising campaign against Joe Biden to define him for the general election before he had a chance to recover from the primary,” they wrote. “Then the novel coronavirus arrived.”

“The strategy, mimicking the playbook of Barack Obama’s 2012 reelection campaign against Mitt Romney, was aimed at crippling the lesser-funded Biden before he could unify the Democratic Party behind him and marshal his forces for November. “The reprieve is a blessing for Biden: Rather than spending valuable time fending off an assault, he is free to present himself as a steady leader amid a national crisis and to regroup for the general election.”

Funny how a world wide pandemic:eek: can disrupt the plans of even the most...eh, innovative?

‘OVER MY DEAD BODY’:
GOP senator appears to be a ‘no’ on AG Bill Barr’s reported plan to detain indefinitely without a trial

President Donald Trump’s administration is receiving harsh pushback on a plan to suspend civil rights during the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.

“The Justice Department has quietly asked Congress for the ability to ask chief judges to detain people indefinitely without trial during emergencies — part of a push for new powers that comes as the coronavirus spreads through the United States,” Politico reported Saturday.

Lee, a libertarian-leaning Republican, was an attorney prior to his political career. His father was Solicitor General under President Ronald Reagan and founding dean of the law school at Brigham Young University.

Barr’s plan is also receiving harsh criticism from the left, with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) saying “absolutely not.”

We're all Party of No, on that Billy boy.:D:D:D

Here’s why Florida spring breakers could be ‘super-spreaders’ of COVID-19 coronavirus

With many colleges closed, epidemiologists are warning that students who spent spring break on Florida’s beaches could become “super-spreaders” of COVID-19 coronavirus, Politico reported Saturday.

“As Florida officials move to expel the hundreds of thousands of spring breakers who ignored calls for social distancing, public-health specialists are nervously wondering what will happen once the party’s over,” Politico noted. “For much of this week, revelers continued to cram four and five to a hotel room, swarm beaches over hundreds of miles of coastline, and then gather shoulder-to-shoulder in bars and clubs – almost a model process for spreading contagious diseases.”

“Now, with their campuses likely shuttered, most spring breakers will return to hometowns across the country where any exposure to coronavirus could set off a contagion, public-health experts warned. They called for greater vigilance in those communities and sharply criticized Florida authorities for their slowness in closing beaches and nightspots,” Politico explained.

I suppose some students feel they might as well party now b/c Next Week they may be dead!
:eek::eek::eek:
Of course, they might be right?

Corona Virus bringing Europe together!

Sewing face masks goes viral in Europe

What do prisoners, a former first lady and textile makers have in common? All have threaded their needles to combat a dire global shortage of face masks that risks the health of millions amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Just a week ago, the small Czech company Nanospace was producing bed linen using nanomembrane — a textile with a very fine web of nanofibres — to protect allergic sleepers from mites.

But as the deadly novel coronavirus started reaping its grim toll in Europe, Nanospace workshops began churning out 10,000 nanomembrane face masks per day for two hospitals in the southern Czech Republic.

Tens of thousands of Europeans are joining forces via social media to sew masks as millions are confined to their homes under lockdown measures imposed to prevent COVID-19 infections.

A Czech Facebook group called “Czechia sews face masks” went viral, drawing over 33,000 members over the last week as Prague ordered citizens to wear masks outdoors and closed borders to stem the spread of the virus.

Crude reality: price crash means oil firms must slash spending

Confronted with a dizzying drop in prices, oil firms face a real challenge as they try to cut investment spending in order to survive a coronavirus-induced collapse in demand coupled with a Russia-Saudi Arabia price war.

Investment in oil exploration and production was set to hit just over half a trillion dollars this year according to the French research body IFPEN, as firms sought to maintain and expand output.

The main international benchmark, Brent crude, has fallen from just shy of $60 per barrel to under $25 this week, before regaining some lost ground.

The main US benchmark, WTI, tumbled from nearly $54 to just over $20.

Not all of the drop is due to the coronavirus.

The price of oil had been supported for the past couple of years by production limits agreed by the OPEC oil cartel led by Saudi Arabia and a number of other producers including Russia.

However Russia and Saudi Arabia failed to agree earlier this month on deeper cuts to take account of falling demand due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Vlad is not happy!

Virus relief bill would let Steve Mnuchin hand out $500 billion ‘slush fund’ to secret recipients: report

The White House on Sunday reportedly refused to back down from its demand that a coronavirus relief package include $500 billion, which would be provided to corporations at the discretion of Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin.

PBS News Hour correspondent Meredith Lee reported on Sunday that the White House was standing firm on the proposal after some Democrats called it a “slush fund.”

A Democratic source told Igor Bobic that the bill would permit the Treasury secretary to withhold the names of corporate recipients for up to six months.

If Munchy wouldn't obey the Law on the tax returns, why would we give him $500 Bill, to play the market?

This smells like a Jared!

Trump is ‘furious’ with New York Gov. Cuomo because his pandemic press conferences are overshadowing him

Appearing on MSNBC’s “Am Joy” on Sunday morning, Vanity Fair reporter Gabriel Sherman told host Joy Reid that Donald Trump is “furious” with Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-NY) because his daily press conferences on the coronavirus pandemic are getting rave reviews — while his own are being panned.

Speaking with the host, Sherman explained, “My sources who are in touch with the White House, several people told me that one of the things driving [Trump’s task force press conference apperances] this is that the president has been furious and frustrated at New York Governor Andrew Cuomo who has been holding these very widely well-received early morning press conferences and, in the president’s view, has sort of hijacked the news cycle.”

Well poop, Donald! Everryone would love you if you weren't suck a DICK!:):):D:D:D:D

Ya' think Trumpski luck was bad!

Harvey Weinstein contracts coronavirus in Rikers Island prison: report

Convicted rapist Harvey Weinstein is in isolation after testing positive for the coronavirus.

According to the Niagara-Gazette, the ailing and aging Weinstein is being housed in the notorious Rikers Island jail, where there are reports of two cases of the virus. It’s unclear if Weinstein was the first case or if he contracted it from that case.

Pudgy is going to wish he had it before this is over....:)...:D

A procedural vote on the Republicans' $2 trillion economic stimulus bill failed in the Senate last night after Mitch McConnell brought up the measure even though he knew he didn't have the votes to pass it. The vote to expedite legislation fell far short of the 60 votes it needed, with a 47-to-47-vote tie. Complicating matters for Majority Leader Mitch McConnell was the fact that five Republican senators are now in quarantine and unable to show up to vote. Rand Paul's trip to the Senate swimming pool yesterday may mean the virus could spread.

Republicans and Democrats agree on many of the broad goals in the bill, like support for small businesses, money to shore up hospitals and state unemployment systems, and checks that would be sent to all Americans to help them get through the economic downturn the coronavirus pandemic has caused.

But one huge part of the proposal, a $500 billion fund that could be distributed to states and corporations at the Treasury Department's discretion, lacks safeguards against bad corporate behavior — like taking the money and then laying off most of their workforce. Democrats weren't about to support that, and wanted to add at least some of Elizabeth Warren's proposed limits on how the bailout money could be used. Instead, McConnell forced last night's vote, and scheduled a second vote today even though negotiations are still ongoing.

Rethuglicunts fuck up everything!

US Surgeon General Warns Coronavirus Outbreak ‘Going To Get Bad’ This Week

On Monday morning, U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Jerome Adams warned Americans to prepare for the COVID-19 outbreak to get even worse as soon as this week.

“I want America to understand this week, it’s going to get bad,” he told NBC News’ “Today Show” host Savannah Guthrie. “And we really need to come together as a nation.”

Adams said that “there are not enough people out there who are taking this seriously” and urged Americans to stay home.

“Everyone needs to act as if they have the virus right now,” he said. “So test or no test, we need you to understand you could be spreading it to someone else, or you could be getting it from someone else.”

Trump is taking charge of the problem, so no worries?

Trump Haters' Finest Hour

Interesting thread only one poster with a plethora postings so far, trying to convince all of us that Pres Trump is a disaster. All I know is that at the moment of this writing five Republican Senators can not attend and vote in the Senate because of the Chinese virus. Thus Mitch McConnell needs some Democrat votes to pass the bill that would provide instant cash relief for middle class and poor Americans. My adult son and his wife both have been laid off by their employers indefinitely, but at least they’re saving day care expense they incur in raising my granddaughter. Thus receiving $3,000 from the govt would sure come in handy, but the Dems as I write have been successful in stopping the bill from coming into law. This is for you Trump haters is your finest hour.

Bod:

The Deamonrats are objecting to Rethug's stuffing $500 Billion of Corporate graft into the act that would not help the suffering people. I don't know why Rethug's always want to fuck around with important legislation by stuffing it with pork for their donors.

They could just give each state a Billion dollars to support the fight but Nooooo! THey want to give the Munchkin a half trillion with no oversight to slip to the Corporate interests and will hold up the rest of the aid that is directed at helping people.

A thinking person would conclude that Mitch is not interested in helping anyone but himself and Trumpski, who is looking to cover his hospitality and golf establishments which are losing money faster the usual.

Bad Rethuglcunts, BAD!

Wow what superior ideas you spout! So the Dems don’t want any monies to go to businesses who employ people. Do you mean the Dems object to giving monies to small businesses. With the shutdown because of the Chinese virus these small businesses can not recover without the kind of help the Republicans are proposing and without that help they’ll be out of business and their employees will be without their jobs. I suggest that people without jobs is the quintessential definition of people that are suffering. So the better idea, you say is for the Federal govt to just give a billion dollars to each state. So CA with a population of 39 and a half million perhaps not counting their illegals either would receive 1 billion dollars and WY with less than 600,000 souls in their midst would also receive a billion dollars. Brilliant! Just brilliant!

The Chinese Virus

Oh yes you Trump haters take your cue from the Dems and their faithful lackeys the MSM who have labeled Trump a racist for calling the pandemic as the Chinese virus. And yet there is no outrage or condemnation of the government of China uttered by you Trump haters. It is known that the Chicoms kept news of the outbreak of the virus for three weeks and refused medical assistance from other countries. All known medical experts outside of China have asserted that had China not kept the rest of the world dark for those crucial three weeks this virus would have been more effectively controlled and less lives would have been lost.

I have one question for you who criticize the Pres for using this so called racist terminology. Exactly how many lives would have been saved had the President refrained from calling this virus the Chinese virus? Hmm? I guess in your woke world it is better to be dead than thought a racist.
