I don't think the fantisizing is the actual point here. Sure, most people do fantasize about younger girls, or some guys. (Me, I like older, not younger) But since there are laws against it, and since they don't want that shit here, they make it against the rules here. Big deal. I was 9 when I got my period (and an "A" cup bra...no training bras for me). By 11 I was 5' 7" and a firm "B". Yes, kids grow up fast, especially girls. (Commonly girls enter puberty between 8-10, and boys 11-13.) But, the fact still remains that in the U. S. of A. 18 is considered to be the minimum legal adult age. If a person over 18 has sex with a person under 18 they can and often will be arrested for statutory rape. (Even if your city/state claims a consent age under 18. Excuse me but did I say I agreed with the idea? There is no need to get bitchy really, I just thought it was a relatively valid point to make; I totally agree with the rules, regardless of where they are based. Maybe next time you could word your reply a little less harsh to someone simply making a passing comment.

Seriously though, how different do 16 and 18 yr olds really look? Not very, as people often regard 13 and 14 yr olds to look the same age then really does it matter raising the age in your story for the sake of the law? Of course men fantasize about younger girls but then they do about legal aged girls too so making the characters 18 isn't really going to affect your story too much.

I do this stuff for a living(not send emails) and the legal age is generally 18 anymore, with certain exceptions in some states and even when 18 is the age, there are exceptions, ie. pregnancy for one, but the above is correct, generally even there you need parental consent.

There are 50 states, plus districts. The age is different in each state, as each state governs it's own laws on the matter.

The legal age for marriage without parental consent in 48 of those states is 18. In one state, it is 19. In the last state, Mississippi, the age is: 17 for men, and an amazing 15 for women.

The age for parental consent starts as young as 12, and goes up to 18. Though, some states also have no age limit, so long as a parent agree's to the marriage.
