That was Fast

Expected two or three days, you know, to mentally prepare.
And there it was: Approved.
The old jitters that I'd forgot.
The familiar, "somebody look." Then, "No, don't!"

Shouldn't have put that intro, "this is my first poetry attempt..." not to mention the glaring 'suck' that should've been 'sucks'. completely obtrusive.
Next time.
Hope.

Do the approval jitters ever subside?

Splish splash anyhow! :p

for me, your comment above the poem was unusual, but good. it reminded me to word my critique in such a way that it is not possible to misread the tone. i hope i managed that much for you. :)

giving and receiving critique online without the poet/author feeling hurt themselves, is one of the most difficult things to do. some poets have fairly thick skins and others 'know' the people who are giving critique and can therefore understand the 'tone' that is portrayed with their suggestions.

to grow as a poet, it is the most important thing to see the critique for the advice that it contains, not for the emotional personal havoc it can wreck upon us if we take the comments personally.

i also congratulate you for turning the voting off on your poem. that is probably THE BEST thing you could have ever done. now you can concentrate solely on your poetry.

From my relative inexperience (been submitting off and on for 5 months), it doesn't go away, but it does get bearable.

By the way, the two to three days does happen occasionally. Also, if you submit illustrated poetry (something I've not done yet) the lag can be a lot longer.

Keep writing, and keep sharing. :D

You can edit your poem if you want to resubmit it without the intro. (Not that it bothered me, but you can if you want to get rid of it.)

I never have approval jitters here because I know they'll accept whatever I submit. It's all the other places that get me freaked out. :D

You post like an 80-year-old virgin who has an unhealthy attachment to her cats.

Not rating, since Eve already did...

I guess my jitters are related to what you all will think of it, and will anyone comment, and will they vote.

Our jitters are cousins?
