Ever have one of those days when you have something bothering you, not enough to really get you down, but just enough to kind of sit at the back of your mind all day and let you know it's there?

I'm having one of those days. The aforementioned thing is nothing that earth shaking or devestating, and I can't do anything about it, but that's the frustrating part.

How do you get rid of that nagging "bothered" feeling?

Porn?
Porn!
Ahhhhhhh... Wait, must go to work now. No porn for Never.

If I really can't do anything about it, I distract myself by doing something else. Like coming to the Lit bb! I can usually find someone with a problem much worse than my own here. Or I can find a party thread, or a deep discussion of some topic. If none of those are appealing to me, there are always the stories to read.

If whatever it is bothering me is REALLY bad, I'm more likely to go shopping for big ticket items. I've gotten a few nice pieces of jewelry and a dining room table, among other things, exactly that way.

A shower with Yummy smelling soap

and/or

Purchase/Check-out a new book that you know nothing about... judge it completel by its cover! You will become totally enthralled in the story, you will lose the nag... I hope!

HTH!

I have those days often, Patryn.

And you know what I do? One of two things.

Like Cheyenne, I go shopping. New things always make me feel better (at the time, at least). In fact, last week I was just walking around the mall, killing time with my roommate, wondering how the Hell I was going to pay all the fines I have (see "Why are all cops such assholes" thread) when we "happened upon" the shoe section at Foley's. I wasn't going to spend any money... nope. No money. But then I saw these awesome Tommy Hilifger go-go boots... my God... I loved them. I had to have them. 120 bucks, just like that. It's not a dining room table... but is probably equivalent on my budget. I'm going to end up working a hell of a lot of overtime to make up for it, but it made me feel better, and that's what matters.

Second. I work out. I go to the gym or to my TaeKwonDo school and train. It relieves a lot of stress, gives you confidence, and gets your mind off of things.

Hope these help!

I hate days like that

Those days are, unfortunately, all too familiar to me, as well. If you can't figure out what it is, you'll only drive yourself screwy by concentrating on it. Find something that you truly enjoy doing no matter what kind of mood you're in (reading, painting, or playing guitar for me) and do that. If you try and do something that you're only doing to distract youself, you will realize it on some level and it won't work at all.

Basically, get away from it and come back to it later. Things tend to get clearer with some space.

Online shopping (kids to young, so no malls for me). Nothing make me feel better than some new cosmetic/body/hair product that I imagine will make me look good. The two latest purchases were Philosophy Supernaturals gel color and Origins Body Gloss. What's even better is that both are wonderful and even sitting here typing about them, I'm still glad I got them.

All the above are good idea's Patryn, but one sure fire way to let go of any thoughts that might be bothering you, is to have a massage. One that a professional will do for you, the kind that make any worries disappear in an instant.

Carl.

I know that feeling. I been pretty down this week... yes, a massage helps a lot! There's a great holistic place near my house that is wonderful and affordable - I go a couple times a month, and it takes care of physical stress and ickiness.

Also, walking on the beach helps, or cruising down the coast. If you're not near the beach, you can go to the mountains, the boonies, or even to a local park. Just walking - anywhere - for a half hour or so can help clear out the ickies. It's mentally stress-relieving, as well as physically cleansing.

Chocolate's a mood elevator also. If you can get a massage, then take a 30-minute walk along the beach to Haagen-Daz, then you're set. :)
