What is the rationale in favor of it? Is it a bathroom thing? Who thought it was a good idea?

My state is banning official travel to NC. Why punish a whole state because of the actions of a few politicians? Isn't that isolationist? We have plenty of gays and such we could send down there to talk some sense into those people.

Is that just a catch all catchphrase now?
Yes. I have strong religious beliefs that all motor vehicles owned by registered Republicans in USA should be painted fire-engine red. Full disclosure is Gawd's Law. My religious freedom entitles me to take such holy action.

My next holy revelation will probably involve hand grenades. That'll be fun.

I'm just curious as to the rationale of the law. Religious freedom? Sound like a bullshit catchphrase like "Tolerance". There is an anti discrimination component. Do they feel that existing law already offers protection?

No. "Religious freedom" ranters want folks they disapprove of shamed, outcast, destroyed, not protected.

"My religion tells me to hate all them niggers-queers-greasers-bitches-atheists-jews-chinks-goths and By Gawd I'm gonna have the LAW on my side even if I gotta write it myself. Hand me a crayon, Leroy." [scribble scribble] "There, now I got me my religious freedom back. Let's go burn some crosses, Leroy." [shuffle shuffle] "Fuck, where did my robe and hood go? Amanda, did you use those to plug that leaky vent again? Well shee-itt..."

Hypocrisy at it's finest! My governor had not problem visiting Cuba, his socio-political wet dream, yet he bans official state travel to NC.

To be fair, you can't expect people to interact with 'the gays'.
What if they spread the gay to people?
I mean children are really what's important here and as we all know, if a child sees someone doing something that isn't on the right side of the US' particular brand of freedom then they will immediately and irreversibly become just like the person they saw.

If we can't trust laws to shame gays, what can we trust?

I don't mind the gays. Most of them are pretty nice. I don't like their parades. They seem like freak shows to me for the most part, you know, with the "Village People" outfits and all. Drag queens. It's "icky" to me when they kiss in public. But other than that, they're fine.
