Some 12 years ago my wife bought me a new watch. It was a beautiful Titanium made by Fossil. She bought it for me to celebrate both my Birthday and our finally finding a place to live after our living in a tent for way too long. (If I had known then how much the watch had cost I would have had her return it, there was no way I would have kept it. Before then I had never owned a watch that cost more then $10.00)
I have worn that watch ever since, included in my diving. (Yes it's a dive watch.) Over the years the watch has needed a new battery several times and I have always brought it back to the sales shop for this. Never have I had a problem with it.
This last time however something went wrong. When I went snorkeling several days after the battery replacement the watch leaked. (In less than ten feet of water no less.) I wasn't happy but these things do happen.
I took the watch back to the shop and had them open the case. It was apparent that the gasket that seals the watch was missing, as in not there at all. (That explained the leak.)
That evening I sent an E-Mail to Fossil explaining the situation and asking if they still repaired this style of watch. (They stopped making it ten years ago.) I asked for the price of the repairs if they did fix it even as I told them I wasn't trying to fasten blame to anyone. I was more than willing to pay for the repairs because the watch holds memories for me. (I didn't even tell them which store I had the battery replaced in.)
This evening I received a reply back from them. I was told to send them the watch and they would replace the inner workings free of charge.
Needless to say this reply made my day.
