November is special. We get two, that's right, two challenges in one 30-day month (you can do it). There's Tzara's fine Ekphrastic Poetry Challenge and now this one, which is a repeat of a former challenge.

Write a poem in which the first and last lines come from other poems that have been submitted here at lit. The deadline is midnight (PST), Wednesday, November 21, 2007. The night before the USA Thanksgiving.

Keep in mind:

1. The poets whose lines you use need to agree to your using them. Participation in this challenge means that anyone else can use lines from any of your submitted poems here, k? The sooner you say you're in, the more time others have to read your poems and pick lines.

2. You have to credit the poets whose lines you use. So, for example, your poem has a credit line at the bottom that says something like:

Line 1: I Love Jazz by Angeline
Line 30: I Love Dildos by Wicked Eve

3. Any form or style (including illustrated poems) is ok. So, sonnet, free verse, sestina, illustrated sestina, etc. Your choice.

I know from experience that the best part of this challenge is reading others' poems to decide which lines you want to use. We get to know each other that much better. It's fun. Give it a try. :rose:

I'll start. I'm in.

Spam is, well, spam.

I is the other,

and I am on the lam.

I'm in.

Most of my stuff on Lit is not posted though. Check out the Pondering the Indelible link in my signature for more flawed jewels. If anyone wants to use one of those, pm me and I will submit it.

I don't think I am up to a terzanelle this time though. My brain hurts too much.

You may be a fool, but you're an awfully sweet one. I doubt I'll write a form poem either. I haven't been much in the mood to write them lately.

I'm in, though I've only got a few poems on Lit for you to choose from, if you pick me. I've got a few floating in the Haiku River and one in the "writing live" thread. I tried to write one for the October challenge, but it was harder than it looked!

I am in.

I have about a half dozen poems posted on Lit. The less exciting ones can be found at the link at the bottom of my sig.

I like experiments. I'll try this.

My stuff is all over the place, but my submissions page is here.

Okay Godzilla, I'll add you to the list. :)

BTW poets if I didn't make it clear before, I will now that you can use lines from the poems of anyone at Lit as long as you have their ok. Not just challengees.

I need a change of direction and new challenges so I'll give this one (and T-man's Ek-wotsit too) a go. My stuff is here.

I'm gonna say I'm in but I'm also on the standby list for ACL reconstruction surgery... << finally  so I can't guarantee I'll be completing the challenge.

Anyone is always welcome to delve into my stuff, it's here.

This, Widow's Thanksgiving, is my poem from the challenge of 2004.

Good luck Champs, on both counts (the challenge and the surgery).

And for those who missed the original challenge or the Archive thread compilation, take a quick look to see what happened on the previous Thanksgiving Challenge issued by Angeline.

I'll be pulling for you either way.

And thanks LeBroz for linking to the old Thanksgiving Challenge poems. Mine is the one by Cerriwiden.

Add me too please. I'm currently up for anything that doesn't involve writing in form.

My sig line contains my links, if they are of interest to anyone.

Question: If I find a prose piece by any of these authors that I'd like to use for first and last lines, is that alright? I've read some pretty poetic prose from you people...

I'm in too. I've had some good things come out of this sort of Challenge in the past, would be interesting to see what kind of inspiration I can find this time around. *g*

ps, Anything of mine is fine for using--poetry or prose--since I saw someone asking about such things.

Yep, all of my stuff, prose included, is allowed. If you find something on the threads, you can use that, too, although I'd want only a credit, in that case, rather than a link to the writing.

I was wondering if I should say anything about prose. I was looking at bronzeage's page and he has so many stories, and I thought why not?

If anyone would like a line from my one paltry story here, feel free.

PS: Remec! (That is all.)

I (he croaked nervously) would love to be part of this. If anyone should need them my poems are here. For the purposes of this competition you can go ahead and use anything without my permission.

Nuh-uh. By definition you just gave it...

Have you ever noticed that in the word 'facetious' all the vowels appear in order?
