What do you have to thank Lit for? For me, it's the discovery that I can write and for the wealth of experience and knowledge that I've been able to tap into (with very special thanks going to WSO and Pear for their superlative editing, from which I learned so much). I knew that I could string words together before Lit, but I couldn't write. I hadn't the fortitude or skill to write a proper story.

Well now I have. And am onto my second non-erotic novel. I'm giving serious thought to taking writing up as a career, or at least as a paying sideline to an editor's job. That just wouldn't have happened without Lit.

Thank you Laurel and Manu and Lit for everything.

What do you have to thank Lit for?

PS. "All the smut!" is too obvious an answer

I'd like to thank Lit for helping me to concentrate on studying for my exams.

Thanks lit for bringing together such a cool community of folks. :)

I'd like to thank lit for letting me submit my stories and giving me the urge to make my writing better (so i get more and better feedback*L*)and therefore to give me the confidence to actually attempt to make some money from my writing.

Cheers Laurel and Manu!

For inspiring me to try my hand at writing
for giving me a forum to post my stories
for letting me discover that others seem to like my stories

For making me not sit in front of the television night after night being bored to death by poor writing and poorer acting.

Obviously, without Lit, I wouldn't have met the love of my life.
Also, I have learned that I can write different generas. I had never written a poem before Lit.
The people here. (no, not trying to liken it to family...theres a thread already) I love the vast array of different personas here.
The AH allows me to have a voice that I would otherwise not have.
Yeah, Lit has been a very good thing for me over the last (nearly) year.
I'm hugely appreciative.

Thanks, Lit.

You've brought me a distraction from certain boredom at times, you've given me happiness, joy, excitement, and a little pain along the way, but most of all, you've given me some very special friends.

Oh yeah, and there's the stories and the writing aspect of it. I find myself pushing my own boundries and believing that I *can* do it.

A safety line when I was most in need of it, when I thought I was going under.

You all pulled me back, dried me off, and pushed me back to living.

Thank you.

Oh, and apparently some of you think I can write, which is a wonderful ego boost.

:rose:

The friends, first and foremost. The challenge, secondly.

I would've never expected to find the most interesting group of people on a smut message board. Intelligent, sexy, creative, wise (sometimes), generous, caring, and (occasionally) infuriating peoples!

L&M knew. If they built it, we would come. ;)

Thanks, L&M!

the opportunity to know others like my stories,
the motivation to write better and better,
the push to actually finish something, and
all the great people I've met, I luv ya.

Long live lit...

The self-confidence to even start thinking about possibly publishing a novel sometime in the future. I wouldn't have it without this place.

And, the friends, from all over the world, that I've met here.

Last, but certainly not least, bringing me a good man to love, and who loves me.

Ditto.

And then some.

And a little more....

With an extra helping...

a world

to exist in when the real one sucks
and something to be proud of when I have to go back to sucky land.
And the caring people

A place to immerse myself in writing.
As a mother of three with a more than full time career in birth,
I kept putting my writing off, thinking it unimportant.
Being here allows me to sink into writing culture
and find words again!

Thanks Laurel and Manu!

And thanks to everyone in the AH!

I would list names, but we all know where that leads.

But the people I have met here are first and foremost on my list. It's been wonderful to talk to everyone, and to exchange drafts and comments and a passion for writing with others.

I began, about two years ago, a fresh devotion and interest in creative writing. Since then, the most important step, to me, has been talking theory and practice with other writers. When I thought about it, I realized that the uniting feature I saw in nearly all of the "great" writers whose work I really admired was that they spent a great deal of time talking, socializing, exchanging, and debating with other writers. I've come to think that this is necessary to one's growth as a writer, and I am extremely grateful for it.

Also, thanks for getting me to own up to the problems with my current job by realizing what I really want to do. Beyond giving me more time to write, it's truly had a profound impact on my outlook and my home life.

The community here, first of all. This place has such a large number of interesting and good people. They've been a great help and support to me, and more important, allowed me to help and support them.

And for giving me the impetus to write. I've always wanted to but didn't, because I was taught not to bother.

So thanks, Lit!

Thanks Lit for letting me post my stories but even more for letting me have a place to read great stories.

Thanks Laurel for removing the 1-bombs that occasionally hit my stories without my even having to mention it.

THANKS MANU!!!!! For answering every PM promptly with a "went and looked and fixed that and thanks for letting me know it was broke" reply.

AND THANKS FOR HAVING THE AUTHORS HANGOUT where I can post stuff with other authors and nice peoples even though we sometimes get mad, and then have fun kissin and makin up.

For the good company, for the 75 bucks for my contest story, for the wordplay, for the witty flirting, for the self-assuaging feedback, for some very special friends, and lately for the inspiration to go to Yorkshire and find more than I expected.

For me finding Lit was the start of a whole new adventure.

Getting the nerve to try my own hand at writing again.
Finding out other people like what I write which gave me an enormous boost of confidence.
Learning lots of things about sexuality in general and my own in particular.
All those things gave me the courage to go out in the world once more.
And last but not least getting to know interesting, caring, bitching people from all over the world.

I'm glad I found this place.

:D :rose:

Good friends!

Feedback from the Twilight Zone!

Feedback from people entertained by the stuff I write!

People who hit on me and then ignore me once I tell them I'm married!

Pain relief during my period!

Bad friends! (I had to. Eris said.)

Contests I can lose better than the rest of you! :D

From someone who had no idea that this place existed a year ago, I am still amazed that such a wonderful outlet is available. The idea that there would be a place that would allow someone like me to let loose all the demons inside of me is exhilarating. The thought that there are actually some people out there enjoying these ramblings may well be cause for concern, but I'm still very grateful to everyone involved in this organization for all they do.
