"Brown's move to get tough on water use came after his push for voluntary conservation yielded mixed results

Residents may be about to find out as California imposes the first mandatory statewide water-use restrictions later this year.

Gov. Jerry Brown on Wednesday ordered a 25 percent overall cutback in water use by cities and towns, but not farms, in the most sweeping drought measures ever undertaken by the nation's most populous state."

Your lawns and golf courses will be missed LosDaygo.

As climate change becomes more severe, expect more and bigger draconian edicts.

Huh, who would have thought turning desert into farm land was a bad idea?

Water Pipe Line!!

I think it will take more than that.

All the restrictions in the world will not pump drinkable water or water for irrigation out of the ground.

How long to you reckon it'll be before Moonbeam declares all dope growers, especially the two-bit, dime-bag tourist type, unnecessary teat-suckers of the collective's vastly-limited water resources, playdeau?

You sure are Mister Riddles today.

Better still, solar-powered desalination, the same way Mother Nature does it.

Like so many of the airhead promoters of the CAGW conjecture who also believe in perpetual motion and magical electricity generation, you are a brain-dead innumerate.

You didn't even read the very fucking article you puked up which very clearly states that the process is NOT even close to being SCALABLE.

Every time I think it's impossible for anybody to be that stupid, you prove me wrong.

Large scale desalination is simply not economically feasible without a large source of low cost, reliable energy.

Yea, like 3ft of snow pack.

And most of our water isn't pumped from the ground.....

LOL thinks I'm a tourist ^^

And most of the 'dope' growers aren't down in the desert grandpa reefer madness, you fucking moron.

Couple a desalination plant with a nuke power plant.

It's California where environmentalism meets stupid. It will never happen. Makes too much sense.

Not even if you turned Gaia into Trantor.

It seems that one cannot truly be a part of the so-called environmental movement unless one is incapable of back of envelope, round numbers.

No one that lives on planet Earth wants dirty air or water anywhere near where they live. Those that think they are special protectors of mother Earth are incapable of seeing that hard choices have to be made and are made every day.

I would love to see an IQ sample at a green rally.

i remember back as a child, my grandparents kept a 5 gallon bucket in the shower to collect water for the plants. visiting so cal last year, lawns were still green, despite pleas for conservation. it's only going to get drier from here on out.

Seems like you're the one who didn't read it.
"Eventually, if this all goes where I think it can, California could wind up with so much water it's able to export it instead of having to deal with shortages," Mandell said, standing alongside the 525-foot-long solar reflector that is the heart of his machine. "What we are doing here is sustainable, scalable and affordable."
I leave it up to you to demonstrate exactly why he is wrong.

So solar power in California is not a reliable source ?

Well, the Earth rotates. And then there are those pesky clouds.

Solar power is available less than half the time.

Wind power only about 15%.

And there is no viable storage.

Hasn't stopped Europe from using solar power for a big chunk of their energy needs. Italy is getting over 7% of their energy from the sun.

Or.....we could just quit squandering bazzilions of gallons of good clean fresh water on stupid shit, like the lawns, car washing and golf courses. The yuppies in LA will survive without their water fountains and shit.....

Funny....it's dark out and I'm burning 23,000 watts of solar juice right now. :D No problems even on the cloudy lost coast (solar still works even in the gloomiest of PNW overcast weather btw) and it doesn't go down when a tree drops a line. Also it's 3APR and even above the 42nd we are at a 13 hr photoperiod and will be over 12 hrs until October....so no it's not available less than half the time....unless you live in Alaska you get enough sun to run solar.

I do have an LP generator for a back up back up though. So *shrug*

The real problem with solar is the toxic wast making the things creates, the battery bank maintenance is rather impractical for the average suburbanite/urban dweller and it's all up front cost so it's expensive as fuck.

Solar still works when it is cloudy , although not at full capacity .

So it still works and is cheaper than other methods .

We are discussing SOLAR .

Not needed .

Kinda needed or your shit doesn't work when the sun goes down.
