yes i am a Texan. born and raised here. some of my people
moved here in the early 1800's, no they were to busy fighting indians, outlaws and hunger while trying to raise
a family to go off and fight at the alamo.

here the deal..i see and here a lot of people ragging on
texas..on tv and some times on bb's. hell sometimes it's even funny to me.!! here's some things people who have never lived her may not know.

texas is a damn big place.when someone speaks of a town or city "over there by","up younder to","down their near" grab
a map.!!! your 1 hr.drive may turn into a 500 mile trip.

not all texans have or carry guns. i do.
not everyone here owns vast areas of land, have cattle, rides
horses.[i still have my saddle.] gets drunk all the time and
raises hell in bars and fights all the time. nor do they chase other men's ladies all the time...friday and saterday night might get al little bit out of hand.

i have tons more but if no one gives a damn or if this does not start enough bs. why waste my time.!

Things could be worse, you know. You could be living in Arkansas. Now that's a state with a bad rep!

I moved to TX about a month ago and married a great texan..a soldier to be exact!! I love it here..the weather and the people are wonderful.

Now, speaking of bad states..I'm from Iowa..That stands for I Owe the World an Apology or Idiots Out Walking Around! All that is there is corn..cows..more corn..pigs..more corn..and occasionally a chicken! Not much there..Texas is much better!

Never did like Texas.

Sure there are some fine Texans. I just never did buy into the local narcissism about a state that ain't so great.

Joke: "If God had meant for Texans to ski, he would have made bullshit white."

I am sure you are a nice person, I just never liked Texas.

hey, I was born in Arkansas, shhhhhh dont tell anyone

I think that it's the arrogance of Texas. "Don't mess with Texas" bumper stickers, t-shirts, etc. is a challenge to everyone. It's like you don't want to get along with the rest of us. That Texas is somehow 'better, bigger, badder' than the rest of the states. Well is just ain't so!

ummmm JC..........

You nailed it, Sonora!

I'm old enough to remember the one that showed up during the energy crisis in the 70's:

'Freeze in the dark, Yankee!'

Bumper stickers...

You left one out...the one that read "Please God...let there be another oil boom...I promise not to piss it all away this time!"

Oh...yeah...grew up in Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas...shhh...don't mention it.

a song reminds me of all the women in Texas...."God Bless Texas"

Texas...weather...messing..bush.. ect .ect..

well...ok...most people here think bush doing a least a fair job as gov. thank GOD his smater than he acts. he doesn't speak worth a shit in front of crowds.

as for the weather we have to damn much of it.!! a large mistake some people make is coming down when the weather is mild and saying i love.!!! than when it's over 100 deg.f &
so humid you can carve a chunk and take with you they get
upset. some times a heat stroke get's em first. when it not doing that its either raining, snowing, hailing, sleeting, tornadoing, or somthing..sometimes several things at once.

as for don't mess with texas..it means don't throw your trash out on our highways.!!! some asshole even dump their
household garbage on the road side.!!

I have been in Texas for nearly 30 years & love it. As a longtime resident, most of the people in Texas are not real pleased with the Governor, sorry, but that is the truth. He really hasn't done much while in office, except run for president. He hasn't been here much, but we tend to do all right, with or without a governor in Austin. The governor doesn't have a whole lot of power anyway. As far as "Don't Mess with Texas", it has been a successful ad campaign to help keep our state clean. If you want to go for size, we are bigger than anyone else, except for Alaska. I don't know about badder or better, but I like it here. Texas, like most states, has its own state of mind. We are not all bubbas with gun racks on the back of our trucks, there is a little bit of everything here, which is why I have turned down job offers in several states to stay here.

My one and only trip to Texas was to San Antonio in December. Wonderful city; the River Walk was spectacular and I am an Alamo freak. I did not see any other part of Texas but I did like the show "Dallas".

The problem with Texas that we Alaskans have is that they come up to our dinky state with the "Everything is Bigger and Better in Texas" attitude. Of course, it would take about three and half Texases to make one Alaska and we have grizzlies and moose and whatnot. This really rubs us the wrong way. We have a joke up there, "How do you piss off a Texan? Tell him we're cutting Alaska in half and Texas will be the third largest state!" Of course, I think this is all jealousy because Texans' regional prejudices are bigger than ours.

Texas has done one thing that no other state has that's distinguished, and that is being its own country. For a bit it was it's own country, then decided to join the Union. During that general era in Texas history Texans were some of the baddest muthahumpas on the planet. Unfortunately this attitude has carried through without the joss to back it up. Modern day Texans are just like the rest of us, wussy. Texans are no better than anyone else in this great Union of ours, worse than some because as a state, they've lost touch with the roots that made them great.

Case in point. Ozzie peed on the Alamo and ya'll no only didn't string him up or put him in jail, you let him back into the state. What is wrong with this picture? Sam Houston must be rolling over in his grave.

Texas...ok enuff nice nice

all right let's take the gloves off.!
anyone who let's bumper stickers bother them have life way to easy anyway. about the freeze in the dark bumper sticker bullshit. who cares.!!in most states people can buy our natural gas cheaper then we can.

if you know anything about oil production and the related industries you know it either wide open or your working less than 40 hours a week..if your still in business.

as far as pissing off money made in good timies if you call
buying another house to replace the one you lost; oh hell.!!
we don't owe you an explanation.!!

and as for alaska they bought you from russia..shut up.!!

hey.!! that remindes me of a story my dad told me.!!
during WW11 he was in a transport over alaska.the men were looking out the window at the miles and miles of nothing but snow and freezing tundra. then this one guy looks out
the window and said "lord god i'm glad i'm not in amarillo this morning.!!" they did not know were they were at of coarse.

anyway if you have not lived here lighten up..if you have then maybe you are where you should be.

every place has has it's share of assholes, rednecks and fools. on behalf of the great state of Texas i here by offer your state all of ours you want.

oh yesssss,OZZIE we have not hung anyone in this county for
at least 65 years..no need to start back now..you can have him also.!!

Ya'll don't like the answer to the question, then don't ask it darlin, simple nuff.

ya' just might be...

Golly...ya' know sis'...we just mighta' found ourselves a "real" Texan!

celestial body- my hubby is from waco, his dad went to baylor too. He attended Waco Christian, though, whcih I guess is no longer around. Just got to visit texas for the first time in my life in October. Beautiful.

TeresaFannin is a wunnyful Texan, she loves TX but doesn't think she's better than us

Did you start this thread to tell everyone how great Texas is? I've been thinking about that, you ask why people disrespect Texas and in general laugh at or outright dislike the Texas attitude, then you get angry when you're told why and "take of the gloves, nuff bein nice." You are an odd duck.

By the way, since he only flew over less then half of a hundredth percent of Alaska, then it's ridiculous to assume that a state that has three mountain ranges, the longest river in North America, three separate biomes, and an oil industry that is still running full steam ahead (what, jealous?) with the largest oil deposit in the nation still undry, and the next largest one untapped, would all look like the frozen tundra. We are aware that Alaska was purchased from Russian, what's your point? Most of the continental united states was purchased from France.

You are a silly little Texan and you amuse me.

Good morning KM. Thank you for the compliment. Alaska is one of 2 places I have always wanted to visit, the other being Australia. I have friends who took an Alaskan cruise a few years ago & they said it is beautiful country up there. If someone wants to get technical, Texas was really stolen from Mexico, but that was a long time ago. I think wherever your heart is, that is home & for me that will always be Texas. I admire anyone who stuck it out in the early days of our country. My ancestors emigrated to the Midwest back when most of it was the Dakota Territory. They endured blizzards, Indians, drought & any number of hardships. All of the US was originally owned by someone else, it was either bought or stolen by our ancestors.

fgarvb1-You asked a question, please don't get upset when you get answers. Everyone has their own opinion about everything, that is what makes this place so much fun.

Right on killer...

Gotta agree...this fella's posted fewer than a dozen times and most of the ones I've seen are antagonistic or disrespectful. He's not like the people I know in Texas...they'd be embarrassed.

Yep. I nailed a few myself. All cornfed grade prime.

But every state has some might fine women..

HOLY SHIT- WHAT A WONDERFUL IDEA!!!

One of the things that Texas is so proud of is that it had the brief fame of being an actual republic all by its lonesome before it became the NLBG.

I think Texas should leave the Union and the Union should let her go. There are plenty of people in Texas who would love to be the republic of Texas again.

You would see an exodus of rednecks across America heading for the promised land. I can hear it now...

"Destiny! Put a goddamn diaper on that baby an grab yer shit honey.. were're goin' t' Texas..."
