With ICU beds incredibly scarce in Texas (in no large part due to the feckless leadership of Governor Greg Abbott), Texas hospitals might have to begin triaging ICU patients.

Since vaccinated people have a much better survival rate than the "But Mah Freedumbs!" anti-science Luddites, it makes sense from a medical standpoint, but I'm sure the RWCJ crew here will yell "discrimination!"

....and BoBoVonWelfare will squeal "racism" and find some way to blame Democrats for this.

Wouldn't Texas triage put money, whiteness, and conservatism ahead of anything else regardless of vaccination circumstance?

That's Exactly what happened in Italy when mass infections caught them unprepared.
It was shocking. Italy, not Kazachstan or Botswana.

Jesus.
80 ICU beds for an 8 million population.

I don't know how the system works in the US, but is Greg Abbott the only one to blame?
Me thinks that in a pandemic there needs to be strong leadership from the top. (CDC and Fauci, executive orders from presidents).

Yes, and they are doing everything in their authority to do, with the Trumpers saying they are exceeding their authorities.

It is a third world state. They can't produce electricity in the winter because they refused to winterize their equipment...help us help us poor us...they can't fight a virus because they refuse to do the most basic common sense things...help us help us poor us. If you vote in a retard...you get what you deserve. Fuck Texas.

Aah...

Interestingly, I watched debates with Middle Easterners on youtube lately
And guess who they think was the best for the rest of the world?
Trump.

They agree that he's racist, but they think that he was far better than his predecessors.
Btw Middle Eastern intellectuals absolutely HATE Obama and Hillary, they consider them to be racist and genocidal and a hypochritical snakes.

But internally (tax breaks for the ultra-rich, creating the cult of anti-maskers and anti-vaxxers) -- Trump: what a disaster...

I've lived and worked extensively in the Middle East. I'm not a bit surprised that a lot of folks there identify with the corrupt, authoritarian Trump. I haven't seen anything in the Middle East that I would want to take as an example of a beneficial way of doing anything--other than for the accumulative benefit of a small, greedy, corrupt elite (which includes a lot in academia there).

Hmmmm......

Middle Easterners who oppress women and want to destroy anyone who disagrees with them, think the Orange Satan is good for the world???

What a surprise.

JFC

I don't despise the laypeople 'Trumpsters' for being anti-mask/anti-vaxxers.
One tends to trust their leaders, especially in such precarious times.

But Rep. politicians? Those are generally educated individuals, how can they spout such anti-scientific "my body my freedom" nonsense?
Do they know that they're misleading the public with dangerous ideas, but they're doing it anyway cause it brings them money and followers?
Or have they become cultists themselves?

I was kind of taken by this guy.
Gosh, he's mesmerizing (I was initially impressed by his interviews about Orientalism /colonialism, but I then listened to all his political lectures because he's so mesmerizing).

If you guys could just listen at least from 5.00 - 6.00 of the first video, you'd agree that he makes such a good case against Obama's policies in the Middle East:

Yes, they have become cultists to keep their salaries.

Considering how many more whites are vaccinated vs. black??

It's racist by lefty (D) standards, and (D)'s are doing this yes???

(D)'s are all for making those who don't get vaccinated, either because they are high risk and their doc says no or they just decide no, into being a 2nd class citizen.....are they not???

(D)'eez are the ones cheering this on....

That's literally what they are doing right now by triaging to discriminate against those who have not been vaccinated, which are overwhelmingly not white or rich. :D

This disproportionately effects black/brown people....and we all know what demographic inequity is ABSOLUTE proof of right??

That's systemic racism!!!

So supporting that kind of systemic racism is racist, right?? :D

Political Tourette's Syndrome is kickin' in early this morning.
Looks like we're in for a shitpisting tsunami, based on early shitpost counts....

As a matter of course, all UK A & E departments triage patients, to sort them into needing attention now; can wait but are appropriate; and those who could be better treated elsewhere.

When I attended a minor injuries unit last week, I was triaged. What I needed wasn't urgent but was an appropriate use. I had to wait while two children who had suspected broken arms were seen first. Why not?

What is the current "death rate" in Texas from Covid?

There's that laser focus again...."death rate"

If they can't get into the ICU, the death rate will rise.

If you wait on the death rate to rise to respond, you're already too late.

It's this line of reasoning hilarious...well, the get it from right wing news and radio because they are not bright enough.to think it for themselves.

Same line of reasoning....DUI's that don't kill anyone....why worry about it since no one died...shit happens don't you know?🙄

They've been movin' the goalpists since day 1
  • It's only 15 cases
  • It's no worse than the flu
  • The worst is behind us
  • It's the coloreds who are to blame for not getting vaccinated
  • Fewer hospitalizations
  • well, more hospitalizations but fewer ICU cases
  • well, more ICU cases but few deaths
  • but...but..BENGHAZI!
  • ....and where is Hunter Biden's laptop?!

Thoughts and prayers. JK.

“Pressley Stutts, a Republican leader in South Carolina who fought COVID-19 vaccination efforts, died on Thursday of the coronavirus after a weekslong battle, including six days spent on a ventilator, The Greenville News reported.

Stutts, a 64-year-old veteran, frequently shared conspiracy theories about the virus, the vaccines and the 2020 election on Facebook, including in posts made from his ICU bed.”

A "true" comrade.

This is what Texans have to live with:

Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick Blames Black Community, Democrats For COVID Spread
In an interview with host Laura Ingraham of Fox News show "The Ingraham Angle," Patrick placed blame on the Democrats and African American community as to why the numbers are so high in the Lone Star state.

https://www.newsweek.com/texas-lt-g...lack-community-democrats-covid-spread-1621312

According to the article, he stated that vaccine hesitancy is higher among blacks. This is a widely reported fact.
