There are probably more active Texans at Lit than from any other place. Texas is divided up for Lit-togethers because of the size, and has geographic "Lit Den Moms:"

SaraPet took over from BlueDaisy for San Antonio
SecretKate took over from me for Houston
Nora is Austin
red_rose took over from ARaynes for Dallas/Ft Worth
nike is Waco

Since Texas orginally included parts of what are now Oklahoma, Colorado and Wyoming, we include them in our Pan Handle group at no extra charge! hehehehe

Wanna meet some of the Texans at Lit? Here are a few places to find them:

I'm surprised there would be more Texans on Lit than Californians. California has a larger population and includes Silicon Valley. I would expect there would be a lot of Texans here because Texas also has a large population, but I would expect more Californians. I am not going to do any kind of a census, and it is not a big deal, but I wonder about your facts.

And, Britain has a larger population than both put together. :p However, I'd never attempt to claim that Dorset has a particularly large Lit membership.

Like I said in another thread... some people are so introspective, but the meaning of that word seemed to go over the top of the head of the person I was directing it at before.

Lou

Edited to add a P.S. Yes, sometimes I am like that proverbial dog with that proverbial bone.

I'm sorry you missed my qualifier.

But I stand by my entire statement. I have only ever seen one California Lit-together posted that was attended by a handful. One of the Austin parties was held at the same time and we talked to the Californians on the phone.

There have been a few threads about 2-4 Californians getting together, and several have met Laural and Manu, but the California bunch is not as publically active as the Texans.

In the past year and a half, there have been two full blown-out lit-togethers in Houston, three in Austin, two in San Antonio, one in Dallas. There's a joint San Antonio/Austin party next weekend, and another in Houston on the books right now. There have been threads on all of these. I have met somewhere between 50-60 different Litsters by attending some of these parties. I haven't seen that kind of activity from the Californians.

And I apologize for boring you as well, but have bone issues of my own at times.

someplace,

What surprised me the most was there being only one person on the GB who claimed to be from the UK. There wouldn't be an AH w/o the UK folks such as: Lou, Og, Gauche, The Earl, English Lady, Pops, et al. I'll leave it others to speculate on the factors behind this manifestation of old world culture and good taste.

Many people living outside the US particpated in the poll but (perhaps out of laziness?) chose not to post. [SEE the last choice in the poll.] For obvious reasons, the running tally in the first post could only show those who actually posted their location. While not scientific by any means, the poll has had an unusually large number of participants, which makes it passingly novel.
