A man lies dead in a room with 53 bicycles in front of him. What happened?


It's the ninth inning. The pitcher delivers; the batter hits a deep fly ball. The outfielder starts to catch it -then deliberately lets it fall from his glove. Why?

I saw that poker is the answer to the first one which puzzled me. Apparently bicycles are a make of playing card which must not have any jokers. The fact that there are 53 such cards means that someone was cheating. Also apparently the dead man has a bullet wound, which means someone shot him for cheating. Now I know what happened to the jokers.

Anway the baseball one was not answered. So here is my best guess. Not being overly familiar with the game, this may not make sense. If the outfielder catches the ball the batsman is out and everything else stays the same. If he drops it, picks it up quickly and throws it well, depending on the speed of the runners there may be a possibility of a double play, which would mean 2 outs.
