It has been established that the terrorists who created a makeship lab in London to make the deadly poison ricin were asylum seekers living on benefits and living in a free flat supplied by the local authority.

No wonder we are the laughing stock of the world and known as Londonistan throughout other security services.

On the brink of a war with Iraq, the lunatic shambles of our asylum and immigration system has left Britain wide open to attack at home

Sometimes I wish we could just get rid of half the do gooders, loonylefties, liberal wankers, and sorry excuses for lawyers who seem to be in chage of our country

rant rant

It's reverse psychology. Who the hell believes the French?

There's a shortage of cardboard boxes and all the best doorways have been taken by the drunks and junkies who've been kicked out of their local authority housing for being junkies and drunks.

Let's put 'em all in camps and then deport them...

Oh, hang on. That's what that lefty Blunkett is trying to do.

:D

This is only the Chigger's butt......

According to Scotland Yard..

We would re-iterate our earlier appeals for the public to remain vigilant and aware and report anything suspicious to police.

We are asking people to be vigilant about their surroundings, particularly in public places and if they see anything suspicious to dial 999 immediately.

We are also encouraging the public to call the free confidential Anti-Terrorist Hotline 0800 789 321 if they have any information about people or activities that could be linked to terrorism.

The Metropolitan Police is doing everything possible to combat the threat of terrorism but it is only with the help and support of the public that we can reduce the harm which it causes.

Report your friends!

Nothing new, LC.

People have been urged to report suspicous behaviour for a long time. Not only that but to look out for suspicious packages on buses, trains, in the street...

It even paid off once - a racist nail bomber left a bomb in a bag in a holdall in Brixton market, London. The bag was moved away from shoppers by concerned market owners who then urged people away from the area.

Before the police arrived, a young man took the bomb FROM the holdall and ran off with the holdall. :)

If it were not so serious it would be funny

You only have to say one word at UK ports- ASYLUM and you will get in on a temporary admission and then you can just dissppear if you wish.

There are a few camps that have had some publicity - but the inmates burnt one down last year because they were not satisfied with the room service arrangements

But how big a threat is ricin?

Nasty if it gets into the blood stream but it still takes a lot to kill an adult if ingested. Children are most at risk but not at high risk. Food safety and security has improved considerably over the last twenty years due to the attempts to contaminate food over grudges/blackmail.

It's not suitable for turning into a gas and I don't think it is particularly water soluble.

It has been used for assassination but other than that it isn't a very practicle poison. There are much better choices.

(Okay, so that isn't the point which Gord was originally making.)

the worrying thing is how many more are out there - I am sure that this is not just a one off

2 nanograms was all it took.

Take a damn sight more plutonium to have done the job :)

It does make you wonder that when Iraq kicks off what is going to happen

There has been lots of threats that there will be revenge terrorist attacks agaisnt the UK as the no 1 ally of Bush.

Are our security forces up to the job

does make you a bit uneasy especialy when you are talking about biological terrorism - shit if they got their act together it could be bad news

This will help...Jeebus!

LONDON -- A new high school said Wednesday its students will be charged for their lunches with a retina scanning device to prevent poor children who eat for free from being ridiculed in the cafeteria.

Dr. Ed Yates, headmaster of the Venerable Bede school, said the advanced eye-recognition software will be in place when the institution opens its doors to 900 students in September in Sunderland, western England.

He said the school is concerned that if students are forced to pay for their lunches in cash the poor ones who receive food for free could be stigmatized. So officials have decided to make the entire school "cashless."

The retina scanning device also will be used in the library when students take out and return books, Yates said.

He assured parents the low-intensity light of the retina scanning devices will be safe for all students.

"We think we are the first (school) in the country to use this," he said of the device. "But this is not a James Bond school for spies. ... This is not science fiction. This is technology that exists."

*Smiling, happy slaves, I wonder where the stored database will be kept and shared with? Can you spell, "O-r-w-e-l-l ?" I guess you have to have priorities, it's probably in effect in the US too. :D

So if we do take out Saddam and install a more progressive regime in his place....

I wonder how many Iraqis who fled his rule would return home?

Don't be daft, LC. NO school in Britain would foot the bill for that, and a school with students receiving free school dinners (obviously state) probably doesn't have enough money to buy the text books!

Can you spell H-O-A-X?

:D
