Terrorism in the UK

This week I had to make a business trip to NYC....just a normal thing...do it every 4-6 weeks.

This time was so, so, different! Part of me expected to see a dejected city, and a people ravaged by the nonsensical cruelty of a few imbeciles. I say only this "BRAVO NYC", you made me realise that even in such terrible days love and peace and kindness shine above all else - I have never experienced such a feeling of community - of brother helping brother.

Only one downside and it makes me write here -

When sat in a bar in Queens I was asked to donate to several "good causes" - Red Cross being only one, but I was aso asked if I donated to the "struggle in Ireland"

This makes me so sad because in the midst of the devastation of one terrorist attack I was asked to contribute to the making of another! For 30 years the UK and Ireland have been ravaged by the Paramilitary Bickering there - I see comparison in what happened to NYC and the bombing of Omagh - not the loss of life that New York has taken but is the death of only 1 son any less hurtful than the death of many?

So I urge you all at Lit - is you should be asked if you want to contribute - SAY NO!!! Maybe if we all do the peace will come for Ireland one day.

(As a form of disclaimer can I say that I support neither side in the struggles in Ireland - simply feel sad for a mother grieving for her child)

That pisses me off too.

Name the bar and let the wrath of those who don't support terrorism fall on them.

Better yet, let the FBI or a new agency know about it.

We have got to stop funding terrorists. Period. Conspiracies of silence only make it worse.

When the UK leaves the Irish homeland - the violence will end.

STUPID STUPID STUPID!!!!!

You pooor sad sad person!

You really don`t get it do you?

Shame on you......would it be safe to say the same thing of all other areas of coflict?

For Example - If We allow no muslims in the US the tragedy of the WTC wouldn`t have happened? And what of places like Kosovo, Rwanda and others...remove one faction and that is that??

Don`t feed a dog that bites!!! Support for either side is wrong in Ireland, just like terrorism and the support of it finacially!

You might be a patriot for an Irish cause you brainless fuckwit - but you are just as bed as those pull the trigger for supporting them!

Well, I've been on my soap box over this in the last few days, so I shall bite my tongue as I rest my case.

I wish it was that simple haven't really got time nor is the right forum to give you a lesson in Irish history but could you be alittle bit more explicit which brits do you want to leave ?
The ones who's families moved there in The time of Richard 2nd (yep we had an Irish /english problem even back then)
Those who's families moved there in the Tutor period.(yep that pesky Irish problems still popping up)
Those that moved there in the 1800's
or are we talking more recent times?
may be you mean the british army?

who ever you mean terrorism and the murder of innocent victims will not achieve your/thier aims.
murdering British soldiers will not achieve your/thier aim.
only dialoge and the democratic system that is in place and is starting to be used will achieve the aims of the people of Ireland, which might not be the aims of the terorist minorities in Ireland.

DO NOT GIVE MONEY TO TERRORIST GROUPS, THEY KILL PEOPLE.

What comes around goes around.

I pray (and this is no mean feat for an agnostic) that you never lose a loved one to a terrorist act, only those who are truly stupid or evil believe's that guns and bombs are the answer to Ireland's problems.
