Perhaps he was thinking that he could have given her his heart, but didn't have a spare?

Hitler was Catholic.

These topics sound more suited for trivialists than for the intelligent.

What about topics that spark value debate over ideas?

Do Americans take sports too seriously?
Discuss: All American's ought to perform a service to the counrty.

etc.

Close but no cigar. It's Quito.

And Todd, don't be asinine. He said Bible, not Koran or however you prefer to spell it. And to the Mormons, it's the Book of Mormon, as I'm sure you know!

Chopin was Polish, although he lived in Paris
Van Gogh cut off his own ear.
As Todd pointed out, which Bible?

Let's see, there was Sean Connery, Roger Moore, Pierce Brosnan, and the other two I do not know.
Quito
Indian Ocean, I believe
The first man to go into space was Yuri Gagarin, on April 12, 1961

There are different versions of the bible, along with different Translations of each.

Discuss: All American's ought to perform a service to the counrty.

I am...I want the DOE not to trash Yucca mountain.
I clean up my litter. Thats a service.

OOOOOH you mean Country, not country...

nevermind

:D

Perhaps, but it still boils down to a Christian book. After all, how many books say in big letters, "The Bible"? ;)

Well, at least give me points for not looking it up on a search engine!

OK, I'll play.

What's left?

Chopin nationality = Polish
Bonds = Sean Connery , George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan
Capital of Ecuador = Quito
Smallest Ocean = Arctic
First man in space = april 12, 1961 Yuri Gurgarin
The longest word in Spanish = más larga la palabra

You'd be suprised. Last time I counted the different versions at our local Barnes and Nobles, there were 40 seperate versions that were titled "The Bible " and about 50 other sorts of books on the good book.

Chopin was born of a Polish mother and a French father in Warsaw - believe his nationality was Polish

Van Gogh cut his own ear of

1st 3 words in the bible? In the Beginning

How many people in Noah's ark: God knows the answer to this ;)

James Bonds (not in order) Sean Connery, George Lazenby, David Niven (casino Royale), Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan - so there are actually more than five but Casino Royale was not a Cubby Broccoli production! I think there was also one other but can't think of his name

Capital of Ecuador is Quito

Smallest Ocean is is the Arctic Ocean

First man in space was Yuri Gagarin on 4/12/61

Adolf Hitler was a Catholic

Longest word in spanish without a technical meaning (i.e. pharma etc.) is anticonstitucionalmente which means unconstitutionally - there are longer words that are plurals of nouns but does that count e.g. electroencefalografistas (makers of electroencepholagraphs) I think not;)

Now - how about some questions that stimulate debate

The other two James Bonds were George Lazenby and Timothy Dalton, though there was a spoof called Casino Royale made where every British agent was called James Bond, including the female ones.

The only Bible i've got is the King James version and that starts with "In the beginning"

All the others have been answered apart for the spanish word and i havn't got a scooby doo about that.

Well, that's just ridiculous! Who needs that many versions of what is essentially the same book? :p

But are we at least agreed that is not the Book of Mormon or the Koran? Hehe. I'm finding this whole discussion highly useless! ;)

The Arctic Ocean is the smallest.

The first man in space (Yuri Gagarin of course) went up on the 12th of April 1961. Not even five years after the first artificial satelite (Sputnik I).

With the Bonds I can name four actors (one might be a sixth, extra one though). Pierce Brosnan. Sean Connery. Roger Moore.
And Bob Holness, who played Bond in a radio version.

I once had an argument with my Religious Education teacher about the religion of Nazis. I couldn't be more specific than 'Christian', but my teacher insisted that the entire party were atheists.

Yes these are trivia questions. But I like trivia.

I can't say anything about Americans in particualar, but some people do take sport too seriously. But this is the same as any subject you could care to mention.

All adult Americans have two forms of service to their country that they are supposed to do already; pay taxes and participate in government by voting. Furthermore many Americans go into politics for the good of their country (and then get nowhere because you have to be a bastard to do well in politics) the armed services, or even business (the economic welfare of the country). Just like every other country (except maybe with the voting).

Or are you suggesting national service, BigDawg? Then there are good arguments for and against. But as an outsider I can't tell you what to do. Well I can but you don't listen.

[shows you what happens when you type a long post. I started this when the last post was Talk2024's]

We agree on the Koran and Book of Mormon not being known as "The Bible." As for why anyone would need that many versions, you'd have to ask someone who had shelled out the money to read them. I just counted.

What are the first three words of the bible?
How many people went onto Noah's Ark?

I'll just take the questions whose answers I prefer over those already posted.

Noah built the ark and led two of each animal into it. Then, he and his wife boarded with their three sons and their wives. No mention is made of any daughters Noah may have transported. The count is eight humans plus the daughters if they were onboard.

In the original version of most of your bibles, the first three words are (transliterated) Be're'sheet ba'rah el'o'him. That is in Hebrew and means: "Beginning, god created..." I placed the entire first sentence in Hebrew as an attachement if anyone cares to see. By the way, I did this off the top of my head and I'm pretty sure about the spelling; may have mistake in one word.

I hear (no pun intended) that the true story of van Gogh's ear is that Paul Gauguin cut it off when van Gogh was drunk or crazed, then lied to him that he had done it himself.
