Ten Commandments

Put my AH philosophers tin-foil hat on this morning to think about character motivation, and it dawned on me that we need look no further than the 10 Commandments for the source of most human drama. I also looked at Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs but he got it all wrong.

I always thought the seven deadly sins were pretty good at providing inspiration

I've always found it interesting that "Don't work on Sundays" has a higher priority than "You shall not kill" or "You shall not commit adultery."

The commandment isn't, "Thou shall not kill." The commandment is properly translated, "Thou shall not murder."

Read EAST OF EDEN. Steinbeck translates the commandments THOU MAY NOT.

Very good song by The Dubliners, "Seven Deadly Sins", even if you're not a fan of Irish music.

Although you couldn't do a (descent) movie about the ten commandments in the same vein as the seven deadly sins (a la "Seven"). ;-)

Sure you could. Follow a bunch of alleged Christians around and watch them break all of them. It won;t take long:rolleyes:

Hypocritical Christians? No way!!! Next you're going to tell me that muslims aren't really peaceful.

When I saw that movie for the first time, I drove all the way home from the theater holding my forehead. I was so scrambled, I also had the emergency brake on.

I  Kevin Spacey in spite of Seven.

They are! It's only that small percentage that's not, remember?

Well we'll find out during the million muslim march coming up.

That should be interesting as all hell. I keep thinking that what a payback it would be for an American "terrorist" to toss a few bombs in the middle of that disgrace.

Oops sorry, my GB is showing.

You mean someone like Timothy McVeigh...a nice, corn-fed, home grown white boy from the Midwest...

It's actually "keep the Sabbath Holy" and yes it does have a higher priority besides killing would be working so if you are keeping the Sabbath Holy you can't be killing anything on that day. The Sabbath is also family day so adultery is unlikely.

The adultery one is actually about coveting your neighbor's property in this case their wife.
