So a bunch of old threads are being pulled up featuring the golden moments of some of the legendary missing figures from Literotica's illustrious past. I suppose they're supposed to provide an object lesson to the new class on how to behave.

I'm reading these meaningful, thoughtful threads, and one quality comes shining through.
Bitchiness.
Is that what you people miss? Maybe it is.

You complain that the Board has gotten silly, frivolous, and pointless. Well, it has. It's also become a pretty fun place. A group of lively people are coming here and having a good time, and a much smaller group of navel contemplators break from their meditations once or twice a week to come in and try to piss all over a bunch of good natured people.

I've come to a conclusion. It's not silliness that's frowned upon, or pointlessness. It's energy. Look at the people who take the most heat. It's the people who try to liven things up the most. Have post totals gotten out of control? Absolutely. I'm exhibit A. But would I post less if the numbers were eliminated?
Nope.

I was reading a thread earlier this week. Someone was praising certain members for being here a long time without reaching certain post totals. Now that was a silly post. What is the point of being here if you aren't going to contribute anything?
Interaction. That's why we have the Board.

And why isn't there someone around to keep the newbies in line? Who wants to keep the newbies in line? New people mean new ideas, and new points of view. God bless the newbies. There's nothing like fresh blood. Or fresh meat.

In conclusion, I think every member has to ask themselves what they'd like the Board to look like. Do you like positive people, or do you like negative people? Right now I think the positive people outnumber the negative ones. I. glad. I'm going to do my damnest to see that it stays that way.

I'm with ya', you whippersnapper.

I've had it too, I come here for fun, not life enlightenment. That is what I have the fantasy goddess, church, and friends for. I want to bring back some good old natured fun! To hell with those who can't relax, damn.

I was wanting to start something just like this, thank you R Nitelight. I tried to change, to please a few of the bitchier posters here, but to no avail. As soon as two threads show up with my name on them, they attacked. It's like they were waiting a week for me to say something, anything. To hell with them. I am with Nitelight on this. Bring back the fun, bring back the positivity, and to hell with those that must complain.

God, I feel better.

Simple.

I want a good balance of inanity and seriousness. I would like to be able to do both on this board. There is a place for both.

I also have to agree that the chat room style conversations are fun, wonderful, and should be limited to a few threads, rather than scattered hither and yon without consideration.

Some just want seriousness, you just want inanity. You think the board is slow when there is just seriousness I think it's slow when there is just inanity. There is room for both.

I'm with you sugar. I come here because it is a PORN SITE(gasp I said it) The serious threads I posted did take off, after I pointed out that the people complaining about the lack of seriousness were not posting on them.

When I want serious I go here http://www.cnn.com they have message boards and chat. http://www.msnbc.com also has chat that I go to.

I come here for fun and to relax so carry on guys I am with you :)

julia i have popcorn and diet pepsi want some?

I don't consciously separate my socializing (online or otherwise) into neat little categories of inane, serious, life enlightenment, and so forth. To me, the in-depth stuff *is* fun. That is my chit-chat. I used to feel bad about it, but then I decided I will *not* apologize for being intelligent, well read, good with numbers, and interested in topics most people just don't get. I've got a gift. Take it or leave it, but don't expect me to dumb it down and saturate it with banality because I won't.

On the other hand, some folks have the gift of humor, of making the inane entertaining. I'm not being facetious about that either. It is a gift, and it does contribute to the board immensely. I read the silly threads, they make me smile, and life is just a smidgen more spiffy, so I say bring them on.

Ambrosious, I'm glad you're not leaving because your posts are fun to read. I did miss your presence here. I'm just challenging the assumption that, first of all, life enlightenment is serious, and second that the people participating in the so-called serious threads aren't having fun. I have a blast with those. Intellectual challenges aren't tedious to me, they're entertaining. When I'm not having fun is when everyone is bitching about (or worse, dictating) how everyone should be having fun.

This isn't a call for more of this thread or less of that. I think moderation is a good idea - in moderation. Lately, I've been feeling kind of stifled, and I don't know if I should hang around or what. Isn't there room for all of us here?

I agree, now if only we could keep the serious threads limited to a few rather than scattered hiter and yon without consideration everything would be great.

Sweetie if you are gonna quote the Judds get it right It's "Grampa tell us bout the good ole days"

Opinions are like assholes. Everyone has one.

First of all, everyone needs to take one giant step back (Mother May I?) and realize that this BB is NEVER going to be exactly the way you would like it to be. But sometimes, folks, it's good enough. :)

Would I enjoy it more if it were more serious? Somedays I would. How about if it were more silly and flirty? Yep, I have a feeling that some days that is what would make me a happier BBer. I also give myeslf credit for posessing the good sense to seek out the threads each day that interest me and my moods of the moment.

It has come to my attention that some people's idea of a good time is raining on another person's parade. Some people enjoy nothing more than to make another person feel bad about themselves and about their ideas. So be it. Does this board have enough room for people like that? I think we have proven that it does. Those "trolls" make things a little more fun for the rest of us.

To sum up, I am saying that although we could each sit down and make a list of BB Perfection we will never achieve that for everyone, so why not just enjoy being here? :)

Mission accomplished....

Got you to thinking, right? As always, there is never any future unless new people come to the BB. The old threads that I posted of Lasher and Flagg were picked to show the newbies that there is nothing to fear, here. In fact, as Flagg said, there's lots to enjoy. Lasher's words may be harsh but they are only his words. There are thousands of others here who are much gentler and just as interesting.

I have been here for 6 months and have found the site to be very interesting. Don't be afraid of the "boogie man". He can't hurt you!

Welcome aboard, newbies.

Grandpa blue (I wish)!

As one of the "newbies" here. I have to say I enjoy both the serious and the non-serious posts. It all depends on the time of day and the mood. I love to read the posts between Nitelight and Ambrosious in the morning. They bring a smile and start the day with laughter. I don't usually participate in these threads as my mind doesn't think that fast that early.

The Serious threads...I love them, if it is a subject that I'm interested in or know something about.

However, the negative threads, I can do without.

As for making the "newbies" feel welcome. I find that to be an area that had deteriorated of late, as everyone is too busy try to push their opinions down each others throats.

Wake up people, it's a porn site, it is supposed to be FUN!
Now, how many more times does this have to be bounced around the board? It is getting a bit old and boring.

Can't add much more than hasn't already been said. I do enjoy both the silly and the serious. So what if Ambrosious and Nitelight start off the day silly, their threads get moved to page two as the serous threads wake up. It seems to me, and this is just my opinion, more laughter is needed in the world today. Everyone is so wrapped up in the serious, always hurrying, worrying...Take some time to sit back and have a few good laughs with friends...*waving* hi to Ambrosious, glad to see you back hon.

You know, Flamingo. Lasher's a bit like The Candyman. If you say his name 5 times he'll appear behind you!

Oh good. More Board Police.

Such stands! About so little! Why does every issue have to be all or nothing? Why does every conversation here end up with everyone all the way to the left or all the way to the right?

"THE BOARD'S TOO SILLY!"

"THE BOARDS TOO SERIOUS!"

Neither is true. It's in the middle. No need for a Holy Crusade, honestly.

If the Board gets too hard to use because a billion inane posts push the other posts off the page, people point it out, it gets corerected, and everything's fine. If the Board gets too dull, people point it out and start flirting and getting silly, and everything's fine.

Truly, we don't need more people "watching out" for the Board.

Oh, and just for the record, from an "oldie" who was here before there even was a BB, I've always maintained after two bright posts you are no longer a newbie, but a charter member, and that in the scheme of things, there are no newbies.

I'm for chucking the hi-tech shit......

and returning to our roots........

Cave Porn!

Break out the chisels man! Break out the stone hammer's. And let's chisel us some nasty Cave Porn. Pictures of husky males dragging nasty bitches by their pubes and fucking'em with massive, huge CaveMan Cocks.

And pictures of'em, they same CaveSluts - getting pregnant and then slane - cause they'd be used up don't you know.

Now - that's some old shit - grandpa shit. CaveMan shit. Old porn. The first porn. A hairy Adam and Eve, slicing and dicing in da Garden of Good and Evil.

And live snuff - that's what those CavePerves did - kill the bitches live. No film you know.

Yeah - Cave Porn. Old porn. Non-tech as you can get.

And most of them smell bad.

Well, not yours, SS. I have it on good authority that your bum smells fresher than lilacs on a summer's morn.

What's that? Where did I hear such a thing?

Oh, I don't know. *He waves as Dr. Clozoff shooshes him and runs from the thread*

Must've been a little birdy. :)

Rachel, who is the Candyman?

Insofar as Lasher is concerned, I think that the guy is actually quite bright, and from what I have heard, kind and generous to his friends, as well. Maybe this is the only place where he can act "mean and nasty" without fearing retribution. Who knows? Who really cares?

Remember, folks, the BB is NOT real life, believe it or not. It is, however a source of fun and a way to exchange information with people that you would not otherwise meet. So, post on!!!

I beg to differ. Sure it is the fantasy as oposed to reality that makes Literotica so great, but it is very real. Members share very real opinions and very real tales of their sexual escapades. Now don't get me wrong blue, I'm not saying that you are wrong, it's just that I would word it a little more differently. The BB is a place where members (and non-members for those of you who choose not to register) can go and get away from their everyday life and lead on another life, and be a totally different person. It is a way of creating a new reality, but it is by no means fake.

Also, as an "oldie" who went away from the board for a while, I can say that it has changed dramatically since it started "way back in the dark ages". It has changed both for the good and for the bad. One thing that stands out to me is that the board is a little less serious than it was in it's early days. I can (distantly) remember a time when the board and it's members shaped the culture of Literotica. We had chain stories and in-depth conversations about sexual topics. What I see now is a day-to-day war amongst members. Every day someone is angry with someone else, and they need two or three threads to show their displeasure. I also see many of you who have thousands of posts and have only been members on the BB for mere months. How many of those posts can you actually say that you put thought into? In all of those posts, did you actually say something to contribute to the good of the conversation? Or was it just a dumb comment? I know that there are active members, such as DCL, who have many posts, but I can be almost positive that DCL actually says something meaningful in all of his posts.

I also agree heavily with DCL when he says that there are essentially no "newbies" on the BB. We are all really just one big family (Not that kind of family, all you incest fans). Literotica is a great site, and the BB is one of the greater parts of the site. So lets not forget that...

Thats just my 2 cents, take it how you want.... :)
