......story that you posted on Lit !

What was it about?
Was it any good or just mediocre?
Was it accepted right away?
Do you still get back to reading it?
Do you see how your writing has evolved since then?

I'd really like to know.

The first of the Jeferson stories was my first post here at Lit.

It's about two online friends who meet fo the first time in New Orleans.

I think it's one of my best works, description wise, but it is very unpolished. I have learned a lot since I posted it.

Took about three days to accept, hich was the norm then.

I read it occasionally.

Defintely can see an evolution in my writing from that story, but it was my first and is one of my favorites despite the distance I have come as a writer.

Well mine was called "spank!" It was based upon an actual dream I'd had.

It got accepted first time round and I think it is on the bad side of mediocre really*L* I haven't looked at it in a loooonnnggg time but i know my writing has evolved alot with subsequent stories I have written :)

I just had a quick check and it's currently sat at 4.11 so thats not bad really :)

Very cool questions snoop..i think the answers to this could prove very enlightening :)

My first posted story was "Letters From Pohjola", a story about self discovery, personal growth, and new starts, set against a backdrop of a foreign culture and what it can represent. It was written for last year's Winter Holiday Contest in about 8 days, and I wasn't particularly happy with it, because I know it could have been better if it weren't for the deadline (I submitted it on the last day), but it is a good story and it was very well received, winning the contest. I couldn't honestly ask for a better start. I still read it once in a while, sometimes playing with the idea of rewriting it the way I would have if I had had the time, but it hasn't happened yet. And yes, I see the evolution very clearly. Even though "Letters From Pohjola" was a good stronger, "Plastic Love", my latest is much, much stronger in terms of development of characters, tightness structure, plot, depth of the semiotic implications, lyrical rigour of the language. In terms of sheer sexiness, my chapter of the "Literotica Olympics" series was also much better.

There. :)

Five at once!

On 7th July 2002 I posted five stories all based on my Ladies Soccer Team, The Silver Vixens.

They are (including current status):

Lisa Trains Thomas: Rating 4.36 Votes 25
Lisa's Adjustable Petticoat: Rating 4.17 Votes 6
The Cage Crinoline: Rating 4.25 Votes 4
The Procession: Rating 3.22 Votes 9
The Vinyl Dress: Rating 4.00 Votes 13

Within a couple of weeks I had added another half-a-dozen. All had been written over the previous couple of years for specific Yahoo Groups.

I am still fond of The Silver Vixens but the stories need re-writing especially The Stag Party and The Hen Party.

I have about six incomplete stories about them to finish. The total chronicle will run to over 300,000 words when, if ever, it is finalised.

Of the first 5 I am still pleased with The Cage Crinoline - my first foray into erotic detective fiction.

These 5 were not my first stories. I withheld some of the earlier ones. They might be submitted someday or just remain forever as examples of how not to do it.

Og

PS. I would like some votes to get the middle 3 up to 10 votes, but after 2 years exposure on Lit I have given up hope. I suppose Jeanne and Fag-Ash could vote?

First piece I ever posted here was under another name! However, as Alex de Kok my first piece was 'Kate, Ch. 1', posted July 2000. In those days, weeks was the usual delay in posting, because it was all done manually. The current system is a huge improvement. I don't honestly remember, but it must have been several weeks, probably five or six - maybe more. One story took two months.

I think the story's okay. So do the readers, as it's managed an 'H'. I just reread it for this thread and I'm still happy with it. I've improved, I think, but I think my style is pretty much the same. I had a horrible tendency to 'catalogue' back then. That, I definitely don't do now!

I'll give all three a read and vote Ogs. May take most of the day as I am working onsomething, but the breaks will be fun. Hope it helps :)

Do you see how your writing has evolved since then?

It was called "Two Down" and it SUCKED.

First, it was told from a male POV -- and not being male, that's a bit of a challenge. Next, the reader had to really suspend disbelief. Lastly, the style (sentence structure, mostly) just blew chunks. (In spite of all that, it's maintained a score > 4.00 ... which just baffles me.)

In fact, if you wanna read it, better do it soon 'cause I just submitted the REMOVE request.

I just had it up on the SDC and got some great recommendations. I will be re-writing it at some point, but just can't get into it right now. Other things are weighing too heavily on my mind.

Yes, it was accepted right away (2-3 days). It's PAINFUL for me to read it now. My writing has definitely evolved since then.

My first story was posted in July of last year. It is called A Pleasant Surprise Ch.1 and has done fairly well. (4.67 rating with 78 votes) Interestingly enough, it is in the First Time category.

It was the first piece of fiction I had ever written down and shared with others, although I had done a fair bit of "storytelling" with kids and friends.* But those tales were often long gone from my memory before I ever thought to write them down. My poetry I have shared with others since high school.

My writing is getting better every day. I think that I will see more of a difference between this piece and other, later works if I wait a few years and look back.

*edited to add: C'mon now, the stories I told kids were more knight and dragon and princess stuff, don't look at me like that...

Well, so far I've just got the one up.

It's a story about a relief worker in africa exploring her sexuality with a local. Tries to be a bit political with a sub-commentary on AIDS. Posted about a month ago, and so far it's got something like 75 votes and a 4.32 rating. It's in the interracial category, which isn't a particular fetish of mine, but I had an old crush who went to Africa to do similar work, so I wanted to do some fiction about that scenario.

I think the actual writing is okay, but structurally, it's pretty weak. I had some extremely positive feedback and one neutral response, so overall I guess it was well received.

As far as whether I've improved, it was only a month ago, and I haven't posted a story since. I've been playing around with different novellas (I've always preferred writing long fiction to short), but I'm finding long fiction erotica particularly difficult.

My first story on Lit was way back when submissions were still done by e-mails. In my relative naiveity, I wasn't quite as paranoid about keeping my details private when online (something which cost me later) and the story's actually under a nom-de-plume that's very close to my real name. Embarrassment and near disclosure drove me away from Lit before I returned 2 years later with 'Seducing Dawn.'

My first was actually quite good and, if it wasn't for its link with the real me and the near disclosure, I'd probably claim it under this name. It's maintained a 4.30 voting average and is slightly atypical of my stories in that it branches into gay male a little bit. Good read though.

Seducing Dawn was my first proper Lit story and I made sure that people would have to work bloody hard to find a link between The Earl and myself. It was first-person female POV and was lauded quite highly. I still have every piece of feedback that I've been sent. I ended up rewriting it completely after working with the SDC to make it better, but I still have the original on my hard drive.

Have I improved? Hell yes, mostly due to the sterling efforts of my two editors and the SDC. Thanks guys.

The first story I posted was called 'Earth Day Field Trip' and it posted after pending about two days back in March. Since it was a contest story, I think that helped to get it a lot of views, votes and comments straight away. Currently, it has around 67,500 views, 255 votes and has held it's rating of 4.45 since it posted.

EDFT was written in an afternoon and it really shows, lol. I like the story, but it wasn't meant to be "serious literature". It's a story about classmates having anal sex on a field trip, how great can that be? It's a one page modern wank tale, nothing like the historical anal epics I tend to write now.

I've considered taking the story down, now that I've made some more artistic attempts at writing erotica. But, I still get tons of email from people who love the story, so I doubt I'll be removing it.

Lit has helped me so much to improve myself as a writer. Never before did I even imagine I could find an appreciative audience to read the smut that I peddle. :D

I'd never written any kind of erotica when I stumbled onto this website. After reading some of stories, I was curious to see if I could write something that would turn people on. I ended up writing a BDSM story, although it might actually belong in the Fetish category. The subject matter wasn't anything I knew anything about and I don't think the writing is good, but it was an interesting exercise for me since it's so different from my other writing. I'm actually thinking of pulling it, but I've received a lot of 'hot' feedback, 1 public comment, and it has a 4.61 rating with 46 votes and over 18,500 views, so I'll probably leave it up.

I posted my first story on Lit in 2005, just before I left for a year-long sabattical in the South Pacific, where I was careful to limit my accommodations to ones with air conditioning but no internet access. On my return trip, I used my layover in Honolulu to go online and have my story pulled. I never had the opportunity to check my scores. It was a thoroughly rewarding experience. I may post another one before the Antarctica expedition.

Have you started drinking in preparation for the debates? I'm getting ready to. :D

2005?

Am I missing a really funny joke?

The first story i posted here was "The Survivors: Ch. 01."
I took the advice and feedback of the readers and went back and revised and expanded it.

Since then I have posted 2 more chapters of the story with more to come.

I still go back and read it every so often with a fresh viewpoint and note where I could have done better.

Still the story series is getting generally good feedback both private and public.

Lessons learned from writing the "Survivors" series has enabled me to make subsequent stories much better than they would have been.
(with one noteable exception)

My first story was the first of The Loser series. A mind control series about this eternal loser and with an interesting commentary on karma and on power existing as a sort of external force that can take over a human body. The fans were kind to it.

I need to finish the last two chapters some time. It had been, up until the last couple of stories, my favorite works that I had posted. I think 2 out of 3 of my Halloween entries have utterly blown them out of the water though as far as personal enjoyment.

And as far as evolution. Considering, that I am still at work on the series, ask me again in a year. I think I'm starting to learn how to write the stroke scenes better, but...it's really to early to tell.

My first was Fatima which I posted in April/May of this year. I submitted it in chapters which I don't believe I'll do with a story again.

I still read it occasionally, and I still think it's pretty good. I can see where it needs work, but I'll always see that and I don't let it bother me.

It didn't do all that great for number of views and votes, but it has had a very high score.

My first story here was A Weekend in the Mountains. About a couple getting together for the weekend. She had a bad day at work and he spends the weekend making her feel better.

It was actually five seperate stories that were spliced together with a perspective change and dialogue segways. For what it was it wasn't too bad. But I have learned a lot and improved vastly on the first stories I wrote. (Just my opinion, I could be screwed in the head)

It still has less than 10,000 views and only a dozen votes and 3 PCs. I go back and read it from time to time and see all the glaring mistakes in it, but that only serves to help me write better.

Thank you to this thread and to Colly who read some of my early stories.

She has inspired me to revisit the series and tidy it up. There are several missing chunks that are part written. Since I posted above I have lightly edited and submitted two more episodes of the Silverbridge Chronicles that were lurking on my hard drive.

For anyone interested in reading Og - warning - at great length, the reading order is:

Silverbridge Chronicles:
Lisa Trains Thomas 01
Norwegian Petticoat Between 1/2
Lisa’s Adjustable Petticoat 02
The Procession 03
The Vinyl Dress Between 3/4
The Cage Crinoline 04
Silverbridge - The Clam etc. - submitted today
Candice - Not yet completed
The Bridesmaids’ Revenge (This is the main story that started the lot) 05
Stag Party 06
Hen Party 07
The Honeymoon – Not yet completed
Harold Plays the Hero 08
Harold 2 – Not yet completed

Sub-set - John and Sheila stories:
Scarf Dance Pending- submitted yesterday 11
Damp Start 12

I intend to revise all of them so that the titles start 'Silverbridge' but there are other plots in between the ones already written or started so numbering is a problem.

My first story was "Comanche Lust: Ch 01". I got nice feedback (people happy with the wild west setting) and good constructive imput. (shit, sometimes the color of eyes change, don't they? maybe not) I was most pleased with the reception of the female character: an older lonely lady on the western frontier.

I was also happy that it seemed a small group of readers "got it". It stands at well under 10,000 views with seventy votes and 4 PC's plus many emails from fans.

After five chapters posted I'm back at work on the sixth.
