Marcus leaned back and glared up at the man as he ran his hand over his jaw.
"You still haven't given us what we deserve Mr. Reilly and we are fairly disappointed with your results. We paid you alot of money and we want what is coming to us."
Wolf was actually surprised that these people had actually learned his real name but he didn't let it show. He continued to look at the man who had just punched him in the side of the face. Finally he ran his fingers over his goatee and said, "Gentlemen, I have exactly what you deserve right here- in fact I have been holding onto it for the right occasion."
One of the three men moved forward and raised his right hand. Marcus smiled before he put on his sunglasses and dropped something onto the floor with a slight thud. All three men looked down at the floor at the same time and all stared at the same thing- the stun grenade. Before they had a chance to react the grenade went off and Marcus pulled out his shotgun, firing it at almost the same instant- the blast catching the lead man; the man who had had his hand raised a second earlier square in the chest and sending him flying through the air and onto a table behind him. The other two men in the room pulled out their weapons but before either could fire Marcus fired at the man on the right- the blast catching him in the left side and spinning him around. The remaining man brought up his weapon but before he could fire a gunshot echoed throughout the room and caught him in the head, causing him to fall to the floor in a heap.
Marcus slowly got to his feet and looked around, searching for the shooter but the only reply he received was, "You owe me another one Wolf." which left him standing there speechless.
He slowly put his shotgun out of sight and took off his sunglasses- running his fingers through his hair as he did. He looked over at the three men lying on the floor and shook his head- he really could have done business with them but he knew after what had happened in Thailand there was something that wasn't quite right. It was a pity too he though as he grabbed the package off the bottom of the table. He slowly opened it, watching as the orb began to glow again with its own strange inner light. He wrapped it up again and placed it back in his pack then walked out of the bar and out into the street, whistling a tune as he did.
The next morning Marcus was woken up by first his alarm and then by the phone ringing. He slowly got up and picked up his phone, "Hello," he said as he began to slowly wake up.
"Sorry to disturb you at such an early hour Marcus but there is something I have to discuss with you as soon as possible."
Marcus instantly woke up at the sound of the voice of the other end of the line as it was that of his mentor and best friend, Alex Mathius.
"I can be there in about twenty, no wait- make that thirty minutes."
"Good, and I heard that you are in possession of a strange glowing orb."
Marcus was instantly on guard- he hadn't told anyone about the orb that he had found.
"Maybe."
"Relax Marcus- it's me, Alex. I'm your best friend in the world. You must trust me on this but I need to ask you if you could bring the orb with you. I can't tell you why but please Marcus; trust me on this one."
Before Marcus could reply Alex was gone from the other end of the ling, leaving him standing there totally puzzled. He put the phone down and walked over to the bathroom and went to the toilet before getting into the shower, turning on the water and closing his eyes. He stood there for a second, loving the feeling of the water as it streamed down over his body.
After Marcus finished his shower he got out and got dressed- grabbing his pack and a few weapons as he did. He walked out of his home and set the alarm then walked over the garage, smiling as the door walked upwards and revealed his Shelby Cobra sitting there. After he placed his pack on the passenger seat Marcus jumped into the car and started the engine, listening with satisfaction as it turned over.
He backed out of the driveway and into the street before he headed towards Alex's home. As he got closer to Alex's home Marcus began to hear a musical note coming from his bag and pulled over to the side of the road. As soon as he did so he opened up his bag and pulled over to the side of the road. As soon as he did so he opened up his pack and was almost blinded by the shock of light that came from the orb. He reached his hand into the pack and touched the orb, getting a shock and a strange voice calling in his head. He closed his eyes and was shocked to see another world floating around in his head. He quickly moved his hand away and opend his eyes, pulled out onto the road then drove straight to Alex's home. As soon as he arrived there Marcus drove straight into the parking garage and got out of the car, switched it off then walked straight slowly towards the elevator.
As he rode up in the elevator the orb's note began to get louder and Marcus began to get some strange looks which he ignored. When the doors opened Marcus gave a sigh of relief as he walked the short distance to Alex's door. He knocked on the door which opened quickly by Alex who smiled before moving aside and letting Marcus into the large apartment. As soon as Marcus was inside the place and Alex closed the door the orb began to make a louder note. Marcus stood there, looked down at his pack and then at Alex but before he could say anything two other musical notes ran out from another part of the apartment. Marcus looked at Alex with wide eyes and said, "What the hell was that?"
"That my friend is what I called you here for. You see I have- no it would be best if I showed you."
Alex walked straight past Marcus and towards another part of the apartment but stopped halfway across the room and motioned for Marcus to follow him. After he pulled his coat around him Marcus walked slowly after Alex, wondering just what was going on. When he reached where Alex was standing Alex smiled at him then pushed the door to one of the rooms open and Marcus was shocked to see two orbs sitting on pedestals in the middle of a room that looked like it had been taken out of the dark ages. There were ancient weapons like swords and axes with suits of armor everywhere but the strangest part about all of them was that they all looked like there were new.
Marcus turned and looked at Alex but before he could say anything Alex placed one hand on his right shoulder,
"Marcus, I want you to do something for me. Could you take the orb that you found out of your pack please."
Marcus looked at Alex with a skeptical look but without saying a word put his pack down on the floor and opened it, watching with shock and a little fear as the orb slowly rose into the air, followed closely but the tow that Alex had. All three of them moved to the center of the room where they began to spin around each other as they began to sing what sounded like a strange song. As Marcus and Alex watched the orbs began to spin faster and let out a light that began to get brighter as the notes they were producing got louder.
All of a sudden there was a flash of brilliant blue light from the ear in the center of the three spinning orbs and when it had died down enough to look where it was coming from Marcus was shocked to see the same world that he had seen earlier in his head in the center of the glowing blue ring. He stared at it before turning to Alex, "What is that place?!"
"That is Telanius. That is my home."
Marcus took a step awy from Alex, looked at him and said, "What do you mean your hom. What are you?!"
"Marcus, please relax."
"Don't tell me to relax. You have been lying to me this whole time. What are you; an alien."
Alex laughed. "No. Don't be so stupid Marcus. I am human just like you but I am not from this dimension. You see in my world I was a mage and I created these orbs to travel to other worlds, to learn everything that I could about them but one day I was about to travel to another world but I was attacked by an enemy and thrown into this world. I was seperated from the orbs so I could not get back. Now, thanks to you I can."
Marcus backed away slowly while still looking at Alex and trying to think of something to say. Suddenly Alex raised one hand as if to stop him and Marcus reached up to grab the closest thing to him, which unfortunately happened to be one of the orbs. Alex looked at him with wide eyes and shouted out, "No!" seconds before Wolf felt as though he were being ripped apart. He let out a scream that seemed to be ripped awayn from him and disappeared into nothhing. All around him was darkness and everywhere Marcus looked he couldn't see a thing which made him wonder what was lurking out there- what could be hunting him. Before he knew what was happening Marcus saw an explosion of light moments before something slammed into the side of his head and he fell into unconsciousness.
"You still haven't given us what we deserve Mr. Reilly and we are fairly disappointed with your results. We paid you alot of money and we want what is coming to us."
