I hate when I do that. It's one of those words I mistype almost as often as I do correctly. Something about finger placement and 'hunt and peck' I guess. I just can't seem to get the 'e' and 'h' in the right order.

There are a few others too like 'adn'.

And for some reason, I tend to add an 'e' to the end of some words where I know it doesn't belong.

Who's alt is the Oh Pee ?
I axed you a question, now answer

I get hit with adn I also for whatever reason do chpater all the time and my worst is a when I type hands on, I end up with hand son.

One of my others which might not matter here, but could be a problem on other sites is 'accunt' instead of 'account'.

'teh' is the only one I do consistently as a typo. For whatever dumbass reason I always want to spell theater as 'theatre' And I have no clue how I got that shit stuck in my head but that's not a typo. That's me being stupid. 'teh' is just how my fingers hit the keys and it's probably a combination of my typing wrong but quickly. Wrong as in there is a correct finger to hit each key with but all those ones in the middle I tend to snag with whichever index finger is bored not which one is actually supposed to go over and handle that shit. For me the bigger problem was training myself not to fix it. Because most word programs see that as a common typo and auto correct but I know I goofed so I'm fixing it, the computer's fixing it and we're basically battling to fuck it back up again.

One day I tried it in WordPad, typing only that word. I got it wrong about half the time no matter how hard I concentrated.

Wordpad. I shudder to think.

I can type it correctly I just have to slow the fuck down a bit which is hard for me. I type well into the 80wpm probably higher than that when I really get going so slowing down doesn't make sense. Even with mistakes it's quicker to go back at the end and hit fix all than it is to try and slow down and get it right. I'm on a computer not a goddamn typewriter!

I use Ginger on important things, maybe I should use it on all typing.

I am dyslexic.

No, that's you spelling it correctly. ;) That's proper English.

Most of my typing is done on my phone so I usually get tge. I depend on auto correct. My brain has really bad days where I can barely type at all.

it's the brit way of doing it, yep. same as centre.

I used to randomly (and intentionally) insert a "teh" into my posts, mainly because I saw Sean Renaud do it and everyone likes Sean, y'know? ;)

Sadly, that didn't have teh same effect for me.

I also use "babby" for "baby" because Bristol Palin said it was a perfectly good alternate spelling, dontcha know.

Glad to know I am not the only one who spells teh more often than the. It is my most common typo by far. I always blame it on my arthritic hands and correct typing (keyboarding?) left me decades ago.

My father used to be a telegraph operator in the 1920s. The machines then in use did not have a Qwerty keyboard and the letters were formed on a rotating disk.

If he wanted to type at his highest speed he used letters in the order they would be on the disk so a word such as back might be faster input as ackb to appear as back at the other end of the telegraph line.

When he changed to using a typewriter at first he struggled with typos based on that old telegraph machine.

However in his 80s he visited a museum that had a working example of that old telegraph machine. After a few trial runs he managed to type at 120 words a minute. That was slower than he had done in the 1920s but faster than any modern operator could duplicate. However he reminded the museum staff that those old machines only used capital letters and no punctuation. "THIS IS A TELEGRAM STOP NOT A LETTER STOP"
