Titans Tower loomed out of the East River, on a small rocky island owned by the giant corporation of Wayne Enterprises from Gotham City. The ten story tower was still a new sight to the citizens of nearby New York, as were the inhabitants.
One of them was arriving now, though no one watching the tower would see him. A network of tunnels came from the many sub-basements, and it was down one of those that a compact, sleek red motorcycle was rocketing. The machine made oddly little noise as it shot through the passage, which pleased the driver. It looked like the sound dampers he'd installed were working nicely.
He was somewhat shorter than most boys his age, with the slender but tightly muscled build of a born acrobat. His hair was black, originally partedon one side, but the wild had styled it inot a spiky mass that was just as good to his sensabilities. His face was partly covered by a black domino mask, white one way lenses over his eyes. They were a clear and piercing blue, but none of his friends had ever seen them. His face was handsome, in that pretty boy way that girls loved and other guys hated.
Black boots came up to just below his knees, curved metal plates on the front, the metal dulled down so it wouldn't glint in the light. Tight pants of vibrant green were met by an oddly sectioned yelloe belt, a circular bubkle connecting it. His tight fitting shirt was bright red, though the short sleeves were green as well. Gloves of the same green covered his hands and forearms, strange little flaps along them hiding some of his toys. Flowing behind him was a large cape. It had a high collar that fasteneed around his neck, and the outside was light absorbing black, but the inside was a bright yellow. On his right pectoral there was a black disk, surmounted by a stylized yellow R.
Robin screeched the Redbird to a halt as the tunnel ended in an elevator. He punched in a code at a munbered panel, stepping inside as the elevator rose to first the garage level, then to the first floor. As he did so, he marshalled his arguements in his mind. The others still needed convincing.
____________
A loud, gutteral roar met him as he stepped off the elevator. Below the raised area the elevator door opened onto, a massive green bear was bellowing at a third youth. The bear demanded attention first, because of its size and location, then becase of the color. Rather than the brown fur one would expect in a bear of that size, it was leaf green.
The young man it was advancing upon next attractedth eye. He was tall for his age, over six feet already, and massively built. The thing was what he was mostly built from metal and plastic. His head was shaved, which looked better considering the upper right quarter of his head was metal and white-swirled blue plastic, an orange glow coming from his robotic eye. Save for the strong and roughly good looking face, all that was flesh was the skin on his arms. The microship texture blue plastic alos made up the bulky shoulder joints, the plates on his forearms and thighs. The rest was white enameled or gun-metal colored steel. His torso and arms were slightly larger than his legs, though as a whole he was proportionally larger than the normal human form. He aslo seemed unconcered with the beast bearing down on him. "It don't matter how much you complain, it's still YOUR turn to do the dishes!"
The bear made an annoyed sound, and suddenly in it's place was a gangly boy with hair and skin of the same leaf green color. His hair was short cut and somehow jutted straight up for the most part. A black skintight outfit with a purple stripe down the middle, that flared to form mock briefs past his belt, and boots of the same purple clung to his awkward looking form. Long pointy ears stuck straight out of his head, flattening with irritation. "No way!" "Not after you cooked up all that barbeque!" 'You made a bigger mess than when Star made that "glorg" stuff!" "You turned the kitchen into a disaster area, you clean it up!"
Before Robin could intervene, there was an orange and lavender blur that shot past. The blur slowed into a girl, and quite a girl at that. Her hair was a lustersous red brown, straight and falling to below the small of her back. Her large eyes were apple green, and shone with sincerity and an open heart. Her skin was a light orange color, and her body was even more pleasant that her slima nd delicate face. A lavender halter top crested by a silver neck guard clung to the swell of her breasts, a matching short skirt and thigh-high boots showcasing her youthful body. Bands of silver adorned her upper arms, and long bracers covered her forearms. "Friends, we should not argue over this!" Her voice was high and light, pleading with the two boys. "We all enjoyed the sauce laden meat that Cyborg prepared, perhaps we should all take a hand in cleaning up the remains of his culinary struggle."
"....It wasn't the best I've ever had...so you guys go ahead." The dry, rather dismissive voice came from the left. "Besides, it's not my turn, so I'm not going to do it." The girl who spoke was sitting cross-legged, floating about a meter off the floor. Her dark purple hair was parted int he middle, curving along her round and alluring face to fall just below her jawline. A red gem sat on her forehead, and intensely bored eyes of deep, deep blue gazed at the scene. A billowing blue cloak, it's hood lowered for the moment, went about her shoulders, bracelets and small soft soled leath boots of the same blue going with it. A one piece legless black bodysuit covered her body, perhaps unintenionally showcasing her body, one that looked a bit more mature than the orange skinned girl.
Before the arguement could get worse, Robin cleared his throat. "Guys, why don't we just let it wait a little while." "We've got something to talk about anyway."
The four other teens stopped a moment, then Robin sighed as the alien girl hurled her self into him. Though, really...he didn't mind that much. "Robin!" "You are here!" "I am so glad to see you."
He grinned, "I'm happy to see you too, Starfire."
Cyborg and Robin slapped their hands together. "Hey, Robin." "Wondered if you were gonna be late, man." "Hey, can you tell Beast Boy that it's his turn to do dishes?"
Beast Boy glared at his best friend. "Can't you just lay off of that for one second?" He grinned at Robin then, "So we still going ahead with the tryout thing?"
Raven made a disgusted noise but said nothing else.
Robin nodded. "Yes." "It's a good idea, and I think it could do the team a lot of good." "There are lost of other young heroes out there, we've met a few, but there are others." "I think it would help make us all better at what we do if more of learned and fought together."
Cyborg shrugged, "I guess so...but come on, you think there's anybody good enoufh to meet my standards?"
"Sitting around in teh garage or the Playstation 2 all day, being loud...yes, I think we can find that," Raven piped up, her eys now closed.
Cyborg gave her a dirty look as Starfire twirled into the air again. "It is a wonderful idea!" "More warriors for our righteous battle against evil, and more friends!"
Robin smiled. "We can hope Star." "They should be arriving soon, so let's go outside and see how shows up."
