April 15 is almost here. Just filed my federal return, and running the numbers under the old tax code and comparing it to my actual tax liability under the new code, I saved $2,347. Thank you President Trump.

I paid more than that much more than ever before. So, you're welcome. I covered you (and Trump too, I'll bet).

Wonder what compelled you to need to open up yet another alt.

Sorry to hear you’re among the 5% (mostly affluent owners of expensive homes in high tax states) who saw their taxes increase. The rest of us thank you for your sacrifice.

What compels you Trumpettes to blatantly and outrageously lie about simply everything?

Now you can afford Obamacare. Good thing too, because you’re stuck with it.

Sources:
1. KeithD, who claimed his tax liability increased under TCJA
2. Tax Policy Center: “80% of taxpayers will receive a tax cut averaging about $2100 in 2018 due to the major provisions in the TCJA while about 5% will face a tax increase.”

Nice try! 😂

Who's lying? Who's wrong?

Even CNN admits that around 94% of taxpayers win under these tax reforms.

The vast majority of American tax filers -- more than 65% -- will see their overall tax burden decrease by at least $100, according to the congressional Joint Committee on Taxation....

Slightly less than 30% of filers will see very little change in their tax liability and a small percentage, about 6%, will see an increase.

Z. Wolf, Here's who's winning under Trump's tax law, CNN (Apr. 13, 2019), citing The Joint Committee on Taxation, Distributional Effects Of Public Law 115-97 (Mar. 25, 2019).

And, KeithD, when it comes to who's a liar, let's all remember that you're the guy who claimed to be a SR-71 pilot until someone posted this and showed you were lying about being one of those heroes.

You should still be ashamed of yourself.

My tax went up because of changes to what can be deducted (my payment went up significantly more, but that was because of what they stopped withholding). I don't know which ones changed. I have a financial manager who handles all that and I'm just as happy not to know as long as enough money rolls in for me to do what I like. But it remains that I got no money back this year for the first time, and I had to pay a bit chunk. So, the Republicans' "tax break" was a dud as far as I'm concerned (and I pretty much knew it would be).

You probably should have a talk with that financial manager being as he should have made the appropriate changes to anticipate for it.

You're not getting the political point. folks all across the country aren't getting the tax result they were promised. (You Trumpettes can stop lying about that now.) The Trump people screwed up on the carry through. They didn't gain support from the actual voters; they gained support from folks who already were avoiding paying any taxes.

You're not getting the political point.

I get it just fine.

But, my political opinion on it isn't going to change my bottom line one iota. From a pragmatic point of view, the bill was passed and I had to adapt my tax planning to accommodate for the new regulations.

It's just that simple.

I'd be willing to bet that a lot of those folks also didn't bother to do any homework and adjust their tax plans to accommodate for the changes. It's not like the IRS didn't publish how the plan was going to affect things. The information was out there.

If they failed to act that's on them.

Those same people would have avoided paying those taxes with or without this plan. It's part of the game and has been for over 100 years.

KeithD's narcissism is shining through!

Wow. Clever.

Convincing.

You're doing great, being nothing and adding nothing. It's clear who you're voting for.

You're a great teacher and the ultimate disingenuous contrarian. You have this misconception that everyone accepts your point of view and if they don't they're wrong. You're great at furnishing supporting documentation from extreme left news sources and never make any attempt to see the other side. You consistently tear down other points of view with your better than thou attitude along with your consistent cherry picking of what suits you. I don't give a flying fuck what you think!

Not us. This is the first time we've had to pay in quite a few years. But, I've never had an issue with paying taxes federal, state or otherwise.

My biggest issue is how my taxes are used and under the new United Christian States of Incorporated America and Dictator Trump's plutocratic dysfunctional leadership combined with his toady friends I'm not happy.

You do understand that this is because taxes have gone down, so withholdings went down, so refunds went down.

Which means taxpayers got to keep more of their money all along.

From the article you cite:

"Most people’s overall tax bill has gone down thanks to the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, H.R. 1 (115). Eighty percent saw their taxes fall in 2018, according to the Tax Policy Center, while just 5 percent will end up paying more."

Thank you for confirming that most everyone benefited from the Tax Reform bill!

Americans turn to credit cards on Tax Day after dramatic increases — thanks to Donald Trump: Congresswoman

On Monday, Rep. Katie Porter (D-CA) discussed the serious problems the GOP tax cut bill caused for her district on MSNBC’s “All In with Chris Hayes” in response to a report from The New York Times discussing how many people do not realize that their taxes were cut.

“I represent Orange County, California, and the limit in the Trump tax law on state and local tax deductions is a huge issue for us,” said Porter. “I was working on my taxes today, and every time I would put in a deduction, it would pop up, you’ve already hit your $10,000 state and local deduction cap. Put something else, it would pop up, you’ve already hit your $10,000 state and local deduction cap.”

“For folks here in Orange County, we’re hearing from a lot of them they owe $5,000, $7,000, even $14,000 in additional taxes,” Porter continued. “A lot of folks are having to turn to credit cards to find the money to pay the extra taxes. By singling out states that have expensive homes or have significant state and local taxes, Donald Trump is really making the effects of his tax plan felt — being felt unevenly around the country.”

Making America Grift Again!

The celebration of Tax Day can be marking the winning of the 2019 Pulitzer Prize for Explanatory Reporting:

"David Barstow, Susanne Craig, and Russ Buettner of The New York Times
For an exhaustive eighteen-month investigation of President Donald Trump’s finances that debunked his claims of self-made wealth and revealed a business empire riddled with tax dodges."

I didn't read the article because the part I cited isn't relevant to the actual argument Dan, my hero, is making so I'll just quote something out of context. What's that? There's more? Oh all of Trump's cuts went to the wealthy? Damn, well that's ok by me because I voted for him because I really hate brown people.

You said it not me.

Trump’s Tax Cuts: The Rich Get Richer

On Tax Day, many Americans don't think the tax cut helped them

‘No evidence’ Trump tax cuts are trickling down to workers

According to the Economic Policy Institute, most U.S. workers have seen little to no benefit from the GOP’s $1.5 trillion Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA).

“Trump promised that corporations would use their tax cuts to give working families a $4,000 pay raise. It’s Tax Day 2019… Did you get that $4,000?”
—Americans for Tax Fairness

“It’s Tax Day again, and there’s still no reason to believe the Republicans’ corporate tax cuts are doing anything for working people,” Hunter Blair, a budget researcher with EPI, wrote in an analysis Monday. “With a year’s worth of data in, the story remains the same—there’s no evidence the corporate tax cuts in the TCJA have trickled down to workers.”

“The TCJA is set to exacerbate decades of rising economic inequality,” said Blair. “The bill blew apart the individual and corporate tax codes with egregious new loopholes tailor made for the rich and big corporations.”

You've been "Trumped"!:)

I love how the left is mad about paying their fair share. :D

Hopefully things will get more fair in the future and we'll all be paying 35% + state taxes.

What tax cut?

In 2017 my effective tax rate was 12.99% and my tax bracket was 25%. This year taxes were 13.06% but my tax bracket was reduced to 22%. Thank you for the best tax cut ever????? Thank all you Republicans and and that idiot #45
