Tatoos not a turn on

I guess this is a general thing too but I'm posting it here as I want to be more involved here more so here is my deal.

Am I the only one that does NOT like tattoos? That do not thing of them as a turn on. I mean I hate tattoos in fact I almost turn down subs because of it (Mind I don't, but having one does not add points in my opinion). They are not a turn on; there are other ways to leave my "mark."

Its not just in the BDSM community that I see it though. I see friends on Facebook. Girls that I loved and thought they would never get one but they all of sudden post on Facebook, "Well is official I'm getting a tattoo." Whats worse is that I see my other friends go and say, "Omg that's awesome." While I just sit there in disbelief and go "Why?"

To tell the truth even ones that are not offensive are off to me too.

I guess its just my upbringing (mind you look where I'm posting this so that's kind of questioning to ).

I feel like I'm in a new minority or something because I see people getting them more and more. I'm probably wrong, and I really sound like I'm over reacting. That's not how I wanted to sound. Just thought I'd bring up the subject.

When I was 16, Cliff Raven had a shop in Hollywood, and I had a design that meant a lot to me-- I wanted it as a tattoo. back in those days, there weren't laws preventing minors from getting tats, if their parents gave permission. But my father was horrified. "You'll regret it!" said he.

16 years later, my tattoist gave me that same mark for my birthday present. I have yet to regret it, or any of my other ink-- except that, had I gotten it from Cliff, I would be carrying the work of a historic artist now.

Ink has had a long history, falling into fashion and out, but so many people have them now they are hardly remarkable at all.

I have a few and love mine. I got all of them during/after changes in my life. I think that's pretty common, so these FB friends you mention probably went though a change or event in their lives.

I tend to date clean cut men. The last 3 have had no tattoos and I do admit I fantasize about "branding" (but with a tattoo) one with my initial on their virgin skin. Mmmmmmm

I feel it's an idividual choice! My Grandad hates the fact I have them but understands that it's my descision and ofcourse that's influenced by the popularity of it today I would be lying not to admit that but both my tattoo's are meaninful and not just a design straight off the board in a tattoo shop

My husband doesn't like tattoos, and though I have wanted one for over 30 years, I don't have any. He was very clear about his preferences.

I'm convinced I'll get one when I'm a little old lady, provided I don't go first.

Tattoos don't cut either way for me.

Hubby has five: two have very obvious meaning. The other three need explaining but also have meaning to him. And he actively plans to get two more.

My sister in law and mother in law both got tattoos in the last six month; though I'm not sure why.

I would love to have a tattoo but the event it would commemorate is so far in the past I'm not sure the design would have adequate meaning at this point.

I'll probably get one at some point and then my son will look at me the way we looked at hubby's mom when she proudly showed off her new ink. *shrugs*

No tattoos on your body and you're of a dying breed. Times were very different when I first saw that many tattoos as a kid. While I don't hate them, I would never get one, myself. I don't mind seeing tattoos, although certain piercings still bother me in an icky way.

There is a new normal and the way body art is seen today is changing from the way it was when I was a kid growing up. Still, old habits die hard. I don't know very many from my age group who have a tattoo. It's more the younger people who are fueling this new trend. But, it isn't without resistance.

Tattoos and other body art still present a certain image to many people. There are still some types of jobs that you won't get, if you have a tattoo that's visible, such as on your arm or lower leg. Many companies are still conservative and don't want to lose a customer who doesn't like tattoos. Some industries just want to continue with a conservative image. If you want to be a lawyer or even a part of staff, think twice about that tattoo.

Many employers frown on their staff having tattoos. It's not because they don't like them, it's because the customer might not. Nobody wants to piss off a paying customer. But if the tattoo is somewhere it can be covered by clothing, that makes all the difference.

Security firms usually don't like someone with a tattoo or a piercing, but for different reasons. I know firms that will hire you, but force you to cover the tattoo by always wearing long sleeve shirts, even in the heat of summer. Piercings are forbidden because they can get snagged in a fight with a suspect. Even neck ties are of the fake snap-on variety so a suspect can't use it to choke you. Many police departments are the same way.

While some employers will be a long time changing their hiring practices against body art, as more and more people get them, that image will change. It is already changing. As we older people die off, that new normal will just be normal.

I have three tattoos, Sir doesn't have any. Not because He doesn't like them, but because He never found anything He liked enough to get inked.

My former husband didn't like tattoos so after I left him I got my first one at age 43 (10 years ago wow doesn't time fly ). All three have some meaning to events both in the past and current. All three can be covered by clothing if and when necessary.

My grown children do not have tattoos, and my daughter only has her ears pierced. If they ever got one, it wouldn't worry me I love looking at other people's body art, it fascinates me and I love to hear the stories behind each piece.

I dont have any. I dont like any permanent decorations on my body (though I have pierced ears since early age and always wear the same earrings with matching necklace but those were picked by my kids and mean a lot to me).

On others I find them from repulsive to extremely sexy, depending on placement, motif, colors and body type.

Some people do do it to do it-- but then, some people always have. For the most part though, tats are like a journal you wear on your skin. Either people think about the design or they remember the occasion. Very few people don a tat with the same carefree attitude they don a souvenir teeshirt. And if they do, what of it?

This is stupid. Tattoos are for people who want tattoos. Unmarked skin is for those that want that.

Nobody gets a tattoo for the respect/admiration of those with tattoos or those without.

Why do I want a virgin? Well I guess part of it is that I want to stap my flag in so to speak, but really its more so that I know that it was me and only me that conquested this "land." That make sense?
