I've just got home from Symphony In The Park, an annual free event.
I'd forgotten how wonderful it is to listen to a live orchestra :)
Thousands of people, and all sitting quietly, listening intently. Even the kids there were hushed.
What a lovely night.....

Does anyone else here listen to classical music?

I used to be really into classical music. I still listen to some, but not as much as I used to. I am/was a classically trained guitarist and when I was taking lessons some years ago, I was listening to classical music a lot. I still have my collection, but I need to dig it out.

I wish I had paid more attention during music class at school, and kept up with practice :(
I would love to be able to play.

I go through phases - always go back to Copland, Vivaldi and Elgar, so a bit of everything. BTW, it's never too late to learn to play an instrument. :)

I didn't have music class at school. It was offered, but only for band instruments like brass and woodwinds and some percussion. I have a hard time believing anyone could learn in that environment, without private lessons. Perhaps some could. I took private lessons for the instruments I play. Very effective, but costly.

I am considering expanding to the cello. Much more difficult than the instruments I currently play, the fretless beast it is.
