Building upon Senryu...and Haiku...Modern Tanka 5-7-5-7-7 loose rules..apply here...

First we build a haiku/senryu...then you must follow with the 7 7 tanka...then you may post your haiku/senryu...there by you change the flow...making it yours for the moment.....

I offer the first senryu...up for modern tanka ending....let the flow begin... ;)

quatrain created
untethered myth inside out

mercurial man stumbles

perhaps a couple more examples would help me understand how to create such a style.

water falls
from a cliff up high
kissing the sky
showering the earth
in a rainbow of spray

How to write a Tanka poem

The Tanka poem is very similar to haiku but Tanka poems have more syllables and it uses simile, metaphor and personification.

There are five lines in a Tanka poem.

Line one - 5 syllables Beautiful mountains
Line two - 7 syllables Rivers with cold, cold water.
Line three - 5 syllable White cold snow on rocks
Line four - 7 syllables Trees over the place with frost
Line five - 7 syllables White sparkly snow everywhere.
Tanks poems are written about nature, seasons, love, sadness and other strong emotions. This form of poetry dates back almost 1200 years ago.
does this help....

finished your tanka...

water falls from cliff
kissing sky from upon high
earth is showering rainbows
from every sun covered kiss
licking the blue sea

the wind blows
trees and leaves to sway
as the river flows
the world is not still
so I move onward

zmp~ Tanka pebbles

from a foot step
a pebble is brought to life
until it lay still
and from that pebble's wake
other stones become moved
