Hello all! I am happy to report that I will spend the day giving tours of a friend's traditional schooner today at Op Sail- Baltimore's gathering of Tall Ships. A strange phenomenom has cropped up with gaggles of over-dressed young women thronging in an attempt to board these tall ships to party with the sailors. What gives? I mean I love sailing but sailors never appealed to me overall. I see the appeal of the uniforms and the foreign mystic but really now...Well I am off to eplore the mystic myself-preschooler loaded into life vest and already wearing his pirate hat. His chant is "Ho,Ho HO and a bottle of num"
Scary only because when he wanted to nurse he referred to my milk as num-eerie isn't it.Have a great day everyone-this is day one sans Nyquil-hope I don't die of terminal congestion sneezing on a schooner sounds scary.

Sorry to hear you've been sick EG. I wish I could fill in for you on the ship. I love those tall ships. Baltimore has a wonderful waterfront.

Maybe it is the perceived enthusiasm with which returning sailors would greet overdressed -- or underdressed -- young women after six months at sea.

I don't know, personally; I've never been out with a sailor myself. Army, Marines, Air Force, but never a sailor . . .

How could I have had such a lapse in my education?

sunburned yet happy

well ahoy mateys we have returned - The day was glorious as were all the vessels we got to see-did not get to board any others but looked wistfully at them. Yes the crowds were crazy for those tight butted(did not look, only heard)sailor boys. I have always been partial to Army fellas meself so I was happy staring at my hubby. Hope your day was fabulous too!!!

you know what they say about sailors

well, maybe its not really a traditional saying, but I saw it on a T-Shirt!

"Sailors Get Blown Ashore"

anyway.. I think that is the only sailing thing I have to say..
