Ok, this might sound a bit silly, but the thing is this: I'm a dutch (26/f) and I have written some stories.. I would like to translate them into English so I can submit them to literotica.
The problem is that I only know so many words for the (let's be civil) private parts... They do not teach you these things at school nor are they to be found in a dictionary...
So, could you guys please help me.. I would be most grateful :)
Diana

Try asking a Volunteer Editor from Literotica. I'm pretty sure they're all native English speakers who could help you. Those words don't show up in the thesaurus (a synonym finder), nor would an erotic thesaurus help much. I just got one and it's filled with all sorts of silly phrases I would never use.

Best of luck. I admire that you can write a story in a second language.

Thank you for your advise Whisper! I will try that!
And thank you for the compliment :) But I will first have to proove that, won't I ?! ;)

Ok... can't HELP myself!

Penis: cock, prick, manhood, sword, tool, schlong, dick, wood(?)... um, that's about my extent....

Vagina: pussy, the "c" word, womanhood, sheath, cave, cavern, warmth, femininity, keyhole(?)

LOL... I KNOW this is going to offend someone... so I'll just keep quiet now. ;)

dirty words

Myst, you forgot Love Tunnel :)

Make My Day
There is a thesaurus that has at least some erotic words.
It's a freeware download. It's called WordWeb and can be found at x-word.com. Hope it helps.

Myst, how about

Penis: Shaft, Joystick, Tubesnake, Willy, Dong

Vagina: Treasure, Slit, Nether lips, Honey hole, Snatch

Oh and why "C" Word, does that particular name offend women? If so I may have a clue as to why I get so little feedback from women.

Hey! Thank you guys! You have no idea how helpfull this is to me! Especially the download tip! God I simply love everybody here!

And Ray, about "cunt" well.. I find it offensive most of the time. Sometimes it's OK, when it's all hot and steamy.
So for me, it depends much on the timing in the story, I guess.. But there's a "whole" discussion going on about it in the Editor's forum.

And thanx again!

Well, the "c" word makes me a little uneasy, unless of course I'm in the throes of ecstacy, and then you can tell me anything you want. I don't know, I'm afraid to say it out loud, actually, it's a horrid word when referring to something so special, kind of like when your lover calls you a little slutty whore when he's fucking you. I've thought of all those other words, too, and they're not offensive, I just forgot about them.... ;) Ray, it's not a problem, I'm sure for most women.

Try picking up a book titled, WICKED WORDS by Hugh Rawson. It's published by CROWN trade paperbacks. I'll give you plenty of Anglo-Saxon options, some modern, some archaic.

Well Myst I am going to try to avoid the dreaded "C" word in my stories from now on. It may sneak in from time to time or I may use it as an abusive term from a character I want people to dislike but for the most part I shall henceforth cease and desist in my casual use of this offensive term. Hooray for PC!!!

Honestly I write to entertain myself and others and if I can improve the entertainment value simply by being more appreciative of the sensitivites of my readers then I am more than willing to do so. So if,lovely female readers, you have made a decision to not read my stories because of my use of the "C" word then please give me a second chance with stories posted after "Wet Nurse".

Of course if you think my writing stinks on many levels then please feel free to send me feedback telling my why. I would love to improve my erotic writing and one way I can do this is by getting good feedback. I do appreciate it when any reader cares enough to send me an email, but lets face it constructive critisism can be much more helpful than, "fuking grate stori dude. i don tis two nd luved it"

Ray
Oh sure it's all fun and games until someone gets shot in the eye!

Thanks for the tip Moriah, I'll try and get my hands on that too!
:)

The "c" word

First off, I want to say I hardly ever use profanity in my personal life. I try to communicate with others in a respectful, intelligent manner, and I usually get a similar response.

One word that I have NEVER used (and will NEVER use) in conversation is "cunt." I think it's taken on a very negative connotation, especially in recent years. Then again, I have rarely used the word "pussy" either.

When I sit down to write a story, however, that goes out the window. These are fantasies playing out here. These people curse, they use words that would make their mothers faint, they engage in acts that some people would find abominable. Sometimes, in the heat of the moment, things slip out. Yes, that includes the "c" word.

I try to use a variety of terms when describing that particular area. However, you can only use "pussy" so many times before it seems to overwhelm you. In some instances, I will substitute "cunt" in its place.

Is it offensive? Probably. But I think it also adds an element of nastiness to the work. If I'm trying to make the sex dirty (which I tend to do), it works pretty well.

A final note: I do maintain some propriety. No woman in my stories has ever been CALLED a "cunt," and none ever will. My mom raised me better than that!

Well.. you sure seem like a very nice doctor, doctor :)

So, how about the male parts.. do you guys find any of these offensive? I for example have difficulty using the word "dick".. call me crazy..

Actually, I just had a character call a guy a "Dick" in a way that I thought was downright affectionate. It's in "Suck and Blow," my last posting.

BTW, my all-time favorite ridiculous genital euphamisms:

Penis: "Purple-helmeted warrior of love," "Diamond-hard chism pumper," and "the proud evidence of his desire."

Vagina: "Peachfish," "Velvet warmth," and "Fragrant Bijou."

Naming the male organ

I guess dick will do in a pinch. I know I use it from time to time in my stories, when I've exhausted most of my options.

To me, it just doesn't pack enough of a punch to be all that satisfying. I personally prefer the word "cock" because it just sounds cool when a woman uses it.

Some of my personal favorites: cock (of course), slab, meat, rod, shaft.

Like I said, dick will work. So will prick, manhood, and tool.

I generally choose from this list, throw an adjective at it, and see what happens.

I like "the proud evidence of his desire"!
About "prick".. To me it the same thing as with "cunt" because you can say "he's such a prick!" so, somehow it doesn't feel right to use it too often (occasionally would be fine I guess).
It's the same thing as in Dutch with the (Dutch) word "lul" or "kut", they are the words for the male and female parts, but we mostly use them for name calling.

Ha.. I'm turning this into a dutch class here.. haha, sorry guys!
