A media company that employs right wing talk-radio hosts, including Mark Levin, Dan Bongino, and Ben Shapiro, circulated a memo after the pro-Trump riots on Capitol Hill telling hosts to dial down allegations of election fraud, or else face termination.

“Free speech” has always had certain limits. Unfortunately what we are witnessing is that due to an extreme lack of responsibility on the part of so many, the need to protect against incitement of violence has become an increasingly important priority. The real threats to our free speech are those who have been irresponsibly abusing it to foment anger and hatred, essentially playing with matches near a leaking tank of gasoline. Take a look at how the genocide in Rwanda erupted, and if you think that sort of thing could never happen here... well, take a better look at some of the acts of January 6th. The “stolen election” claims have been heard over and over with zero evidence to back the claims, and at this point are clearly nothing but a weapon of propaganda. The time to put up or shut up on those claims ended January 6th. It’s over! From here on, anyone trying to perpetuate those lies is supporting current and future threats of violence and insurrection.

What about all the other lies such as Iraq responsible for 9/11, Obama is a Muslim, climate change denial, Clinton heads a pedophile ring out of a pizza parlor, etc.

Or how about the demonization of political opponents to the point where racist cartoons, cross hairs on political pamphlets, and thinly veiled calls for violence against Democrats is an acceptable and routine form of political dialogue?

This is too little to late. They've worked their audience into violent frenzy based on decades of half truths and outright lies and now they are trying to dial it back. The toothpaste is not going back in the tube. These right wing nutjobs are now even targeting Republicans as turn coats who need to be eliminated. Once these nutjobs have figured out their favorite hosts are cucked and are being lied to, they'll turn on them too.
