Taliban and suspicion -

After many years of war in Afghanistant, the only rival remaining for Taliban is Ahmed Massoud, a brilliant general who ran the primary campaign to drive the Soviets out of Kabul. He hold a portion of the country in the North, and gets along with the US, Russians, Iranians, and anyone else who hates the Taliban.

Sunday night a suicide bomber tried to blow up Massoud. I cannot help but wonder if they knew in Kabul that this was about to happen to us. Did they wish to kill the man (I don't know if it succeeded or not) before the West might wish to install him in Kabul?
