Tales of the Sky OOC

I've been meaning to start a new role play. After a year or so of absence, I won't be surprised if I'm rusty.

The base of the story is Langit, a land far from everything. A place where the wonder of fantasy, and the dreams of technology collide. While the "untainted" land still holds onto the old ways such as magic, some who's urge to realize Langit's dream of mastering the sky, push the minds and technology to the limit.

This is where trouble starts.

The fragile bonds between races have worn and torn, rivalries between the rich and the genius constantly escalate to dangerous levels, more people are turning to the thieves guilds, and the ruling pirates in the sky. To some, the everyday life on Langit hasn't changed, but to others, what they loved most about the land have gone, and the era chaos is soon...

Like the base stated above, this is basically a mix of Magic and Technology, (yeah, I've been watching allot of Anime again.) This role play isn't limited to just the Human race. Catmen, Wolves, Elves, Vampires (traditional and "day-walkers,") Living Puppets, Bio Androids, Birdmen, and such are welcome, if you'd like to come up with a race, I encourage it, so long as you describe the character the best you can.

I'm pretty interested to see how this will go. If you're interested, feel free to post a character, I'll try to post mine as soon as possible, (hopefully by morning.)

Great to hear you're in Cats, it's been a while since we were RPing with each other.

Name: Orin Colt
Age: 19
Race: Human
Hair: Dark Auburn, left side tends to cover part of his eye and nose
Eyes: Dark Brownish-red.
Build: Just short of 5'11, slightly on the scrawny side, light tan skin.

Bio: Orin has been studying mechanics and alchemy for five years, though he isn't very skilled in either. He studied and worked under a retired Alchemist named Rover for a while, before moving to the port town Kode to learn from a popular Mechanic and Alchemist named Alvin, much to Rover's dismay. Because of his studies, (and Rover's aggressive training,) Orin is skilled in various weapons, particularly guns and daggers.

Okay I need more background information. What is the point of flying? Travel, access to supplies, war tatics, why is it in the name?

Similarly are players on the same faction or rival factions, assumeing we have factions at all.

There are multiple reasons for flying. The most common is for trading and supply, others use airships and boards to raid villages and pillage, particularly pirates who prefer the clouds over the sea. The rich tend to hire mechanics and magicians to create flying machines and race other rich people's machines.

For the most part, flight is a obsession in Langit, nobody is sure why the sky is so alluring.

As for factions, it really depends on the player. Pirates tend to stay in small groups, and are constantly competing to be the better group, they control the sky. Thieves own the largest group, assuming they're a part of the Guild, and are not soloist, the tend to stay away from the sky, but are notorious on land away from port towns. There's also a military group who try to keep both the Pirates and the Thieves in check, but they are terrible at their job, only a few members of the military are feared. The military "control" the sea, (assuming neither Pirates or Thieves had run them out of their territory.)

Hopefully that was helpful.
