Write on, Honey!

A writer should enjoy writing for writing's sake and personal satisfaction since writing, telling a story in prose or poetry, is difficult and not something to be taken lightly, nor is it done easily. Writing is hard work even if it comes more easily to some than others.

That is one reason I have said a writer must first write to please herself/himself with which quite a few have disagreed, one comparing writing to please oneself with masturbating, and, in so doing, she/he feels she/he has done a good job and has written something of worth for self as well as for others/readers, so much the better.

There is personal satisfaction and fulfillment in writing as there can be in having others like and enjoy what one has written. The former, one has control over, but the latter, what readers think or feel about ones writing and gift of story telling, one has no control.

Surely, we who write would like to know what others think regarding the worth of what we have written as one way to motivate us to strive to improve our craft. With this in mind we writers would greatly appreciate readers, having read stories submitted to "Literotica's" erotic stories and poems, take the "second" to vote. That is about all the time it takes to vote: A second.

However, we have no control over whether readers vote or do not vote, and so we continue to write, regardless of this neglect, because of our love of writing and the personal satisfaction and joy of having written.

Love masters me, the bitter sweet
O'er thy limbs breathing;
Yea, Eros now, the god born blind
Sweeps my soul like the mountain wind
Through the oaks seething.
