Dan Fortescue-Smyth had finally made up his mind.
His business had grown to the point that he needed a Personal Assistant.
As well as someone who could organise and help him run his business, he realised he need someone slightly younger, who wanted to learn from him and achieve a measure of success in their own way, whilst helping him.
He knew what he lacked in his business was a woman’s touch.
In the world of Corporate Hospitality – the women were nearly always young, beautiful and ambitious.
He needed a woman who could hold her own in negotiations, was able to entertain clients, and yet recognise his authority and support him when he had decided upon the direction the business would take.
'FS Hospitality Agency' needed the grace of a female presence to get to the next level.
Dan dialled the number of a friend, Gail, who ran a Recruitment Agency.
“Hi Gail, it’s Dan Smyth. How are you?”
They swapped pleasantries for a minute or two, before he told Gail the reason for his call.
“Gail – I need your help. I need a woman to help me run the Agency. It’s too demanding for me to do alone any more. I have outgrown what I can achieve alone.”
Gail replied that she knew of a few women who might be suitable.
They agreed to set up a day of interviews so that Dan could take his time and interview the candidates and make sure the successful applicant really suited the look and feel his Agency was going for.
Gail had provided 5 candidates:
1. Andrea Michell
2. Christine Miller
3. Kim Saunders
4. Nyara Adams
5. Sarah-Jane Mathews
Dan had formulated questions and a short aptitude test for each candidate to complete as well as a personality test and an opportunity to present to him - why they should get the position.
On the appointed day, they all arrived promptly, were interviewed, and Dan promised to let them know who had been successful.
All the candidates were intelligent, articulate, attractive, and appeared professional, in their appearance and demeanour.
It was a pretty tough decision, as all the women were well qualified for what he wanted, with test scores very close together - but what influenced him was when asking Sarah-Jane some questions, following her presentation, he sneezed, and suffered a small nosebleed.
She dashed over to him and knelt beside him and took control, offering him a tissue taken from her jacket pocket, and pinching the fleshy part of his nose and holding his hand to comfort him, until the bleeding stopped.
He sneaked a look at her nyloned legs, and admired her taut smooth muscles under the smooth stockings, as her calves were slightly flexed by the fact she wore modest heels, before looking back at her face, to see the mild look of concern upon it.
"Yes, she will do nicely!" He thought.
It was that confidence to act, and her demonstration of taking action without hesitation, which swayed him.
Her other qualities made her eminently suitable, so he didn't hesitate either.
As soon as the situation had calmed, he thanked her for her help & offered her the position, explaining that her composure under pressure, combined with an excellent interview had won her the job.
“If you’re able – I’d like you to start tomorrow morning. We have a lot to do. I have clients to entertain a week Monday in the Caribbean, so we don’t have much time.” He explained, before thanking her again for her help and bidding her "Good night – see you tomorrow".
