Gwen pulled the small jacked around herself as she walked in the dim light. She had spent most of the night dancing with her friends and drinking simple drinks filled with alcohol. She was on her way back to her apartment when she placed her headbuds in.

She had been living on her own for a few years now after her father had tried to force her to marry early. She was part of the elite of the elite. Having grown up in a wealthy family. She had run away from home years earlier, not wanting to be part of her family any longer. She hadn't heard from her prominent father since then though when speaking on talk shows he spoke highly of her as if they were still close.

She was humming to herself, unable to notice what was happening around her. She didn't care, it was late in the evening everyone was asleep or so she thought.

.

Adrian stood in the door way, shivering. It was a cold winters evening in NYC, the snow had stopped, but the pavements were slushy, and the city lights reflecting of the low snow clouds, adding an errie orange glow.

He saw the target leave the bar, and he started to follow her, as she walked the mile or so distance home.

As she closed the front door, he called on the radio...

"Tomorrow night? This weather will be perfect, every one will be too busy avoiding the cold to care about a lonely girl......"

Moments later a van with false number plates pulled up and the door opened.

He jumped in before they headed of to their safe house.

Kay smiled at the reflection in the mirror, running her fingers through her bright blond hair. Her blue eyes stared back at her as she finished getting dressed. Taking a deep breath she stretched. She straightened her short skirt and halter top she slipped on her high heels. It was time to head to her party.

*******

Her neat blond hair had finally been pulled into a pony tail, her heels tugged off to be replaced with bare feet. Taking a deep breath she was walking slowly down the lone street. She was alone and she was cold.

Looking around she wobbled slightly, the alcohol slowly beginning to wear off. She never noticed the van, nor the foot steps behind her.

.

The van drove up and over took their intended victim.

As she drew level, Adrian opened the door, letting in sharp cold blast of arctic air.

He reached for her with a rag soaked in Chloroform as he pressed it against her face..

"Inhale Gwen you sweet... be a good girl......."

It continued to snow intensely as he saw her feet blue from the cold....

As she collapsed Adrian was easily able to lift her into the van, and the driver drove.

In the back, Gwen was placed in a sleeping bag, her extremities were cold. from walking in the snow with nowhere sufficient clothing on. The last thing they wanted was for her to die of exposure on them. They drove for an hour or more, not because of the distance but the roads were treacherous. But the weather helped them as well, the streets were deserted as they reached the suburbs of the city, and their old hideout.

As the Van was parked in the garage, Adrian carried Gwen to a room in the old house, a mixture of bricks and wood; where she was laid on the bed. As she slumped in her induced deep sleep, Adrian changed her attire, removing what clothing she had on, and replacing it with thick socks, leggings and a thermal top before throwing the bed covers over her.

With the door closed and locked behind him, Adrian headed down stairs, and cracked open a bottle of beer.

"Chin Chin"

Gwen felt the hands on her as everything seemed to go black.

She didn't know how much time had passed or where she was. Everything was blurry and as she slowly tried to sit up she was quickly aware that she wasn't home nor in the same clothes she was wearing when she left the party.

Her heart pounded as she tried to bring her mind down from the fog it was in "Ok Gwen..." She mumbled before trying to slide off the bed Taking a deep breath she began to look around what looked like an attic.

Her hands shook as she finally stood, her eyes looking around once more before making her way towards the door. "Where am I..." She muttered

Taking hold of the door knob she tried to open. As she realized it was locked she began to panic. Slamming her shoulder into the door she tried desperately to break it down even though she knew it wouldn't work.

.

Adrian heard the commotion as he ate breakfast watching the news. Gwen's disappearance was not in the news, but in all reality she wouldn't normally be awake at this time to contact anyone.

Her phone was in-front of him, being charged, it had received a couple of texts - not that he could read them. He made her a fresh cup of tea and placed it on a tray together with various fruits and a packet of cereal that he ad observe her carry home from the supermarket.

He inserted the key and turned it, opening the door...

He stood in the doorway, all six fot, and broad as he placed the tray on a table

"Morning Gwen, hope your well, here have some breakfast..."

He looked at her, her breasts loose under the top, her legs still in the leggings he had dressed her in...

"Not too cold I trust, it was rather cold last night, walking along barefooted, your feet were freezing!"

.

Gwen sat on the bed her hands shaking as they held the bottom hem of the large short she wore. Her eyes, red from tears, flicked to the door as it opened. Silently her heart fell at the sight of the tall broad man who stepped inside. She feared the worse, and as he stepped forward to place the tray down she flinched away.

Looking down at the clothes she wore she began to tremble. Had he changed her? Someone had to, she hadn't thought of it earlier. Instantly she became self conscious.

"where..... Where am I and who are you. " She managed her voice a quiver of a whisper. Her eyes darted to the tea and cereal and slowly tears began to touch her eyes.

She didn't know what was happening but what she did know was that a strange man had changed her and was feeding her the same breakfast she made herself every morning. Her memory was missing pieces and she had no idea how she had gotten there. Shaking she pulled back onto the bed trying to get further away from the man she was beginning to fear.

.

"Yuo are in a safe house Gwen, in the middle of no where. Look outside and you will see how much snow fell last night, so no need to escape, you will die of hypothermia.."

He poured her a cup of tea from the pot and offered it to her.

"My name is of no significance. But my boss has an issue with your father. Quite simply youare being held as a bargining tool...... I hope yourfather stilll has feelings for you.... Otherwise your fingers will start endup being sent in the post.....""

She quickly shoved her hands under her thighs as she looked up at him. "Theres... um..." She uttered. "You.... Please let me go. I can get your boss whatever he wants just... please let me go. My father he wont pay he doesn't negotiate... please.' SHe said as tears touched her cheeks.

"I don't want to die.... I.." She shook her head, wiping her face. "Please tell me your name..." She murmured softly her voice cracking.

Glancing to the tea she was suspicious before finally deciding that things couldn't get worse. Taking the cup she sipped slowly, her eyes timid. "Please don't hurt me." She murmured shyly.

Running her shaky fingers through her long hair she bit her lip. "What happens....if he never pays..."

.

"Call me Tom if that will help you.... to take your frustrations out on me!"

Adrian walked to the door, and faced her... "What books do you enjoy Gwen? Might as well get you something to keep you occupied, but if you misbehave, I just use more chloroform again...... But if you want anything.... just let me know..."

He walked over and turned the TV on and handed her the remote before leaving the room...

Blinking she stared at him before standing, holding the remote to her chest. "Tom.... please...What will happen if he doesn't pay." She called but her was gone. Looking down she bit her lip.

Turning to look at the window she thought for a moment before moving to the window. Touching the glass she tried the latch. Maybe, if she took the bed sheets, climbed down the wall maybe she could run for help.

Staring out at the cold winter morning she knew she wouldn't make it, knew that it wasn't enough. Taking a deep breath she stared down at her feet. What was she to do now?

Taking a seat in front of the window she was silent, letting her body go through her fears and trembling. Finally she got up the courage. She had to try.

****
An hour later she began to fiddle with the window trying desperately to undo the locked latch. Her sheets were tied tightly into a long rope.

.

Adrian was alerted to the movement by the security camera hidden. Often it gave false alarms but it also meant that they knew when ever their captives were up to mischief.

He watched her make the sheets into a rope, and giggled.

"A feisty one" he commented.

When she was opening the window, that would be when he would act...

It took some fiddling and some fumbling before she finally managed to get the window open. Flinging it open she shivered as the cold air graced her face. Turning she grabbed the larger comforter. Hugging it to her chest she threw over rope.

Taking a deep breath she hugged the comforter tighter. Biting her lip she stared over the edge before sitting on the window sill. She would use the comforter for warmth as she went towards down.

Taking up the rope she began her decent, walking her way down carefully and timidly. The last thing she wanted was to fall.

.

Adrian saw the opening of the window and stood up, and put on a thick coat. They were in the middle of nowhere, and visibility was poor, due to the low cloud, though it currently wasn't snowing.

HE headed outside and waled tot he spot as he saw the sheet- rope dangling, and Gwen struggling to climb down, her upper body strength barely coping with the demands she is asking, coupled with the cold.

As she descended, she hadn't realised that under the window was a pond. Whilst it was frozen, it made the area incredibly slippery under the snow.

He lent against the wall of the house as he landed on Terra forma..

"A lovely day for a stroll Gwen, I see you are dressed perfectly to die from hypothermia in about 30 minutes when you become disorientated in the woods.... A cup of tea or would you prefer death by hypothermia?"

.

Gasping she turned around holding the comforter tight against her chest she stepped back, slipping on the ice. With a wince she stared up at him.

"S...stay back." She muttered as she desperately tried to get her balance. She was sliding across the ice attempting to right herself.

"At least I can say I tried!" She hissed finally managing to get up and began to run, skidding across the ice her hands shaking.

She had to try, if she didn't she wouldn't be able to live with herself. The wind was cold and she knew he was right behind her.

Adrian giggled as she struggled with the ice before she finally found her footing, and started to try and run in the snow.

She was effectively barefooted, just in the socks he gave her last night as she stumbled in the knee high snow. He didn't bother chasing her.

She would soon stumble when she reached the dip in the garden, but hidden by the flatter layer of snow covering the ground. That would be when he would take her. Otherwise he just started to power walk as much as he could in the snow, and started to gain on her. Despite his thick quilted jacket, even Adrian shivered.

.

Gwen was panting, hugging the large blanket to her chest. She had to get away. Looking over her shoulder she whimpered. Looking back at the cold horizon she urged her feet faster. Her skin was becoming numb from the cold, prickles of pain against her legs as the frozen snow clung to her pants. Taking a deep breath she felt the cold air burning her throat.

Tripping on the blanket she fell, feeling as if she was falling forever. Looking down she realized she was. Rolling into the dip she felt the cold ice agianst her face, the wind burning her eyes. Coughing from the cold she tried desperately to right herself. Abandoning the quilted blanket she dug into the snow, forcing herself up she felt warm tears sting her cold cheeks.

Just as she managed to get to her feet once more she felt a warm hand against her arm. Turning she tried to yank free only to be met with another hand on her second arm. Whimpering she looked up at her eyes red and her face pink from wind burn. Her freckles sticking out against her pink skin. "Please....Just let me go. I wont tel anyone... Let me live." She whimpered.

.

"Please....Just let me go. I wont tel anyone... Let me live."

His voice was down to earth as he replied.

"There is a storm brewing, visibility will be inches. Your foot steps covered in minutes your corpse found in the spring thaw, four months away. If you want to live Gwen, you will follow me."

Before he finsihed speaking, he lifted her up onto his back into a fireman's lift, and headed back to the house, and the warmth. He dropped her inside the back room, the utility room, as he closed the door behind them.

Moments later he joine dher i the kitchen, offering her a a sleeping bag.

"Here, wrap yourself with this..."

He then poured her a cup of steaming tea and added some sugar, and a bar of chocolate.

"I'll be back."

With that, he headed to her room, to close the window and retrieve the bedding rope.

He returend around ten minutes later and joined her at the table.

"How are you feeling?"

Taking a seat she held the cup of tea tightly, her eyes down and her heart heavy. Why was he being so nice to her? She was confused and lost. Hearing his voice she looked up at him. "I'm... I'm better... I guess..." She said as she hugged thesleeping back around her body before looking down again. "W...why are you doing this?" She asked quietly.

.

Adrian entered the kitchen, having closed the window upstairs, and bought the bed linen down, placing it in the washing machine; and putting it onto a 20 minute wash.

"W...why are you doing this?"

He stared at her..

"Quite simple really, you are worth more to us alive than dead Gwen...."

He paused..

"But whilst I may be a kidnapper I'm not a total Bastard Gwen.... So why did you try to escape? Couldn't you see the storm is closing in, and we will have white out conditions for the next 48 hours or so..."

He reached for his own cup of tea..

"So what do youfancy for lunch.......?"

He was much to calm and as he stared at her she tried to keep herself calm as well. He seemed to be staring into her soul. Taking a seat she looked down at the tea her hands shaking.

"Wouldn't you have wanted to escape if you were in my position?" She asked quietly before taking a deep breath. "I'm not hungry." She muttered. Taking a sip of her tea she closed her eyes for a moemnt. "I just want to go home. Is that so hard to understand? Besides..... what will happen to me if you don't get your money?" She murmured.

.

"Wouldn't you have wanted to escape if you were in my position?"

"Of course, but I'd also sit it out for a while, see if I could work out where I should escape to, and wait for the weather to improve... But as an ex-forces guy guess I have had some training...."

"I just want to go home. Is that so hard to understand? Besides..... what will happen to me if you don't get your money?"

"I would love to go home too, but that is another story, but yes of course you want to go home... And It isn't money we are after but for him to use his political leverage...."

He sipped his own hot tea, and opened a packet of chocolate cookies and offered her one first.

"You need to eat, keep your strength and beauty up to speed..."

They descended into silence as the wind howled outside, the snow falling almost horizontally in blizzard conditions

Looking up at him she was silent her eyes looking him over for a long moment. "You were ex-forces?" She asked quietly biting her lip. Taking a deep breath she eyed the pack of cookies. He couldn't have poisoned the cookies could he? Reaching out with a small hand she took a cookie.

Nibbling on the small item she silently looking him over. "So why this line of work if you are ex-forces?" She asked quietly running her fingers along the table timidly.

.

He watched her stare at the cookies and then nibble at one as if she was to taste some poison or other drug. So he reached for the cookie in he r hand and broke a bit of and promptly chewed on it, before taking the next one out of the packet, and started to eat that as well.

He wanted her to feel she could trust the food that he prepares for her.

"So why this line of work if you are ex-forces?"

He smiled. "The population loves us as an organisation. But individuals no one seems to trsut us? We have spent years leaning how to kill fellow human beings, react to orders and leave distinctive life's. I've seen places, experienced situations that I never wish on my enemy yet alone my friend. And so well you send your CV. if you are lucky get an interview but rarely are we selected for..."

He shrugged his shoulders...

"So Gwen... what about you?"

Blinking she stared at him silently before sighing. "Me? I'm in the process of finishing my major." She said quietly. "I keep a low profile and try to keep to myself." She said before taking a deep breath.

Sipping at her tea she leaned back, glancing at the pack of cookies again before snagging just one more. "So... if my father doesn't do as you want?" She asked quietly her eyes glancing at him over her teacup. "What then?"
