I just wanted to stop and take a minute to let you A/all know how incredibly lucky I feel to have found this forum, and how very helpful and generous it's inhabitants have been to a new poster like myself.

You guys have really been amazing in offering to share insight and advice with someone like me who is newborn to this lifestyle and I think you are all to be congratulated for it. It would be all to easy and in my opinion understandable for the posters here to be a very closed and insular community, but in my lurking and limited posting I have been delighted to see you poen yourselves to newcomers without judgement or preconception. It's delightfully refreshing to see in a cyber world where all to often message boards fall prey to flame wars and cutdowns.

Take a minute today and give yourselves a pat on the back. You deserve it.

It makes a refreshing change to be invited into discussion and have your opinions respected. I have also received so much valuble advice that has aided my development within this way of life.

I would do anything to remove the triple posting, caused by a mechanical error (BTW), but I'm not sure I can, so you'll just have to put up with it.

Well true, this is the forum to come to, when you need info or advice about BDSM. But, it isn't given completely without thinking of ourselves.

See, the vanilla world is in charge. Society as a whole sees the BDSM community as strange, sick and down right bad news. There are many out there that would love to get rid of us, as a boil on their backside. The religious right, for one, comes to mind.

So, when we give you advice and info, we are also helping ourselves in the long run. We show you the way to go, because we have done it the wrong way. There's no need for everyone to do it the wrong way, and in some cases, people can get hurt doing things the wrong way.

Nobody wants to read a headline where a dead body was found, gagged, and hogtied, because someone didn't listen to advice. Bad things happen, and if you have the right info, you can ward these things off.

It looks better to not see things like this in the news, because it just fuels the fight for the religious right. They say yet another victim of that evil lifestyle. We lost another. So sad, she slipped through our fingers.

Sad stories like that will always be around, but the fewer of them we see, the better for all of the BDSM community. Keeping newbies from the crazy people in the world benefits all of us.

Oh, and it is nice to be helpful to others, too. Trust is vital to a BDSM relationship. The power your sub gives you as a Dom is amazing, once that trust is there. To misuse it, would be unthinkable, in my opinion.

See? The BDSM world is a much better place for all, when we stick together. The vanilla world doesn't understand us and doesn't want to. It's up to us to take care of our own.
