Taboo?

The "Taboo" part of the name of that category was only added recently. It doesn't refer to just any taboo, but to incest-type situations that aren't really incest, such as non-blood relatives. Anything that goes into that category must, to quote the category description, "keep[ing] it in the family." It's how you define family that makes the distinction between incest proper (for lack of a better word) and taboo.

That's pretty much what I said in the second post on the thread.

I may be mistaken, but I think it's just incest or near incest. By that, I mean something that is not legally incest, but involves two or more persons with a familial relationship. I have seven stories in the category and one involves a brother and sister. That is strictly incest but four of the others are a man and his wife's nieces and two are a man and his stepdaughter. Those six would be considered taboo.

It is important to note that this isn't a problem because they're not actually the same rock. A thing can't be in two places at the same time, sure--but its not the same thing.

But that's your wussy inter-dimensional time travel. the rock does exist in two places at the same time and you've created a causal loop which is outside linear time until the point at which you go back in time but are still there having travelled forward twice in linear time, loop pinches out the only history that's left is you picking up the rock.

Time tends to mend or ignore (loop out) temporal anomaly.

Any way, who said the same rock can't exist in two places at the same time?

And shagging your parent before you exist isn't incest either. In a more substantial way than the rock your parent isn't the same person as before you were born.

I have to disagree with you there, Og. Montana Summer Ch 1 is about second cousins, and at over 210,000 reads and over 1200 votes in a year and a half, I would have to say that at least a few incest readers were happy with 2nd cousins...

Yes, but a well written incest story always performs with big numbers. My incest story (written by request, out of the Story Ideas forum) has 300,000 views and 938 votes, far and away the biggest numbers of any of them.

But what does the feedback say? What do they complain of?
